  1. Having checked the photos, I can see exactly what you mean now. I'd not realised that I've taken the photo of the side at an angle, and the dots are just out of sight as a result.
  2. Great - thanks all for these comments. Certainly gives me some food for thought.
  3. It does - dots in the normal positions, between the frets.
  4. I presently have a Boss OC-5 and an EBS Unichorus as my only effects, which I use rarely anyway. I keep toying with the idea of acquiring a TC Plethora X-3 instead, just to tidy things up, but was wondering how (especially) the Sub 'n' Up on the Plethora compares to the OC-5. Anyone been in a position to compare them?
  5. No surprises there - you've probably saved me from myself anyway. 😁
  6. Oh Gawd, I keep coming back to this because it's...oooh, a couple of years since my last multi-fx unit was purchased, played with for a bit, boxed and and moved on after another six months when I realised I was never going to use it. This looks soooo nice and user friendly though - and at such a saving over a new one! Stop it, stop it, stop it!!!
  7. Thanks JA. Still a little wider than my cabs (15"). I'll need to decide whether I could cope with that...🤔
  8. @JapanAxe- the manual gives the width as about 19" but I'm not sure if this is with the rack brackets (as shown in the manual picture) or not. Would you mind checking after all for me?
  9. @JapanAxe- as you were. I've just found the manual online. It's going to be too wide for my 1x10 cabs and will result in a serious case of overhang-itis, sadly.
  10. @JapanAxe- how wide is the amp please (excluding the rack mounting brackets - I assume they are removable)?
  11. I would love to try something like this (i.e. British built, and that I've never come across before) but it's just too wide for my tiny little Purple Chili 1x10 cabs.
  12. There's a thread about this kicking around already: Not sure if one's been seen in the wild this side of the pond yet. I'm interested myself - it certainly ticks all the boxes for a completely unnecessary and over-powered purchase for my current bass 'needs'! 😄
  13. I've been kicking this ball around for a while but am thinking about changing to a combo from my present (albeit tiny) 'stack', which consists of a TC RH750 and 2 x 10" custom cabs. Anyway, the combo I'm most interested in is the GK Fusion 112. Any users out there who might care to share their experiences and thoughts? Especially how they've found them for gigging - small/medium pub gigs, pop covers is going to my use. Thanks.
  14. Well, I tend to doing pretty much zero slapping so, in all honesty, I can't comment personally. I suppose my observation would be that - if 16.5mm spacing works for Mark King...
  15. You could always get Mike to make you a fretless neck for it too, Martin? 😉 Have had a couple of enquiries about this, but nothing concrete at present so - still available.
  16. I'm really saddened by this. Steve did some work on one of my basses a good few years ago and I spent a really pleasant couple of afternoons over at his place in Birkenhead, dropping off and picking up the bass. I'd been listening a free Mojo CD on the way over and was telling him I'd been in raptures listening to Half Man, Half Biscuit's 'National Shite Day' on this thing. He proceeded to regale me with tales of the lead singer, who happened to live just a short distance away from him. I found Steve to be a thoroughly engaging and decent guy. Hell, it was only a very weeks ago he commented on a thread of mine. What a sad, sad loss. My sincere condolences to his family.
  17. In fairness to her, my wife has never objected to me buying anything bass-related (or anything else for that matter). This has resulted in me now owning 5 Zoot customs. I sometimes wish she would object.
  18. I'd forgotten what an utterly brilliant band the Feelgoods were. BC (5'4" of "never thought about it" when wielding any of my current stable of Zoots...)
  19. One thing I should mention is that neither Veijo (Rautia) or Nuno (Lusithand) claim their respective products to be copies of the original, Wal items. I don't believe they have tried to backwards-engineer (taken apart!) the original, Wal parts, and set out to copy them. What they have done is understood the design concepts (eg, 8 coil, humbucker per string, pickup design), and sound they were trying to emulate and apply those to their own products. On this bass, they both work together brilliantly.
  20. Thanks Russ - an accurate and thorough response that's saved me some typing!
  21. He did. He may be along to shed some light - if he can find time to take a break from building basses! Mike really knows his stuff so I'd be surprised if this was anything other than awesome.
