Got our debut gig with The Americana Revue https://www.americanarevue.com/ coming up in 2 weeks, so I went shopping with my wife for some new clobber.
The gig is completely sold out, which we are very proud of.
Anyway, here's the gear
Anyone else buy gear exclusively to wear at gigs
Looks a good project to be part of. Will try and catch you if you get over my way…

Are you talking covers or originals? Or does it matter (other than there's an extra creative phase, licking a song idea into shape)?
I was going to say covers, but why restrict the discussion?
I managed to get a song into the set of the last originals band i played with by digging out a demo from 1980 and playing it to the songwriting duo. They thought it had been done last week, snd I only told them later😂 -
Every band has a way of introducing new material.
How does your band do it? Does anyone have a veto? Can anyone suggest songs or just one/a few? What if it stretches the band’s envelope? How many songs make it to rehearsal and not the set? Have there been fallouts and fights?

He played a bit of bass in the TV series Manchild I believe - I have a distinct memory of seeing him sat on a sofa playing a Precision next to Don Warrington.
He is also a Fulham fan! I am warming to him even more…

Having a gear rationalisation and decided one U-bass is enough. So, up for grabs is this metal-strung Kala Journeyman. The ideal first U bass for a traditional bassist, being far more playable than the rubberised variety!
Great nick, no damage but - full disclosure - there’s a small fingernail-sized gloss patch below where fretboard meets body (there when I bought it, too insignificant to see in my photo). The finish is otherwise matt.Deluxe Kala gigbag is the icing on the cake. UK postage included in price.
Oh, the sling around the top of the neck at nut is where I attached the strap - will remove!
Here are the all-important figures:
Specification:
Size: Acoustic electric uBass

Body length: 13.9375 inches
Width at upper bout: 7.875 inches
Width at lower bout: 10.5 inches
Width at waist: 7.062 inches
Body depth: 3.125 inches
Fingerboard width at nut: 1.75 inches
Fingerboard width at neck/body joint: 2.25 inchesAnd the blurb
The Kala Journeyman is the grandest u- in the new line up, made of laminate mahogany with white binding, f-holes, and a cutaway. The Journeyman is a great for gigging, has the original u-Bass tone, and it won’t break the bank.
Hone your skills and perfect your craft, this u-Bass is made to take you as far as you want to go. The Journeyman will set you on your way to becoming a master. Being the first u-bass with a cutaway is handy for anybody looking to make the most of the whole fingerboard!
The preamp features a built in tuner, so no need for any clip-on tuners. And with the wound strings, you have a decent acoustic volume as well as a crisper bite to the sound if you want it! You can of course dial this out with the onboard EQ so you get that lovely warm woody thumpy double bass sound if you want - but you can have a more contemporary, rocky sound as well which is impossible with polyurethane strings.

Rationalising my stuff, so I only really need one of these.
Sure you all know how useful they are as insurance against amp failure. Yours for £20, UK post included.
-
We all know front-people see themselves as the be all and end all of the band.
So my question: do you treat them differently to other band members? Are your comments and criticisms tempered by the knowledge that they are likely to be more sensitive than the average musician? Or do you treat everyone the same?

Hard to find collaboration between master bassist Graham and Prince. Features Chaka Khan.
Excellent condition, UK postage included.
Blurb!GCS 2000 is the eighth studio album by Graham Central Station, and their first to be released by NPG Records. The album was co-produced by Prince (as ), who co-wrote one song (Utopia) and appeared on every track as a musician or vocalist (mostly uncredited).
The album was released on 2 February 1999, the same day as 1999: The New Master (on which Larry Graham also appears), and was third and final album in the 'trilogy' worked on with Prince (as ) and Chaka Khan from late 1997 to mid-1998 (New Power Generation’s Newpower Soul and Chaka Khan’s Come 2 My House were the other two albums in the trilogy).
The booklet contains a long note written by Prince, titled "’s dare" in which he describes with superlatives Larry Graham’s style, how "he is funk ITSELF" and dares anyone who listens to the album to "try not 2 make the 'funky face'."

Hey folks
I'm thinking of buying the markbass cmd 102p for gigging with a 5 piece wedding band and a 3 piece pub band. I play a 5 string g&l l2500 tribute and I'll have FOH support on both gigs.
Will the combo sound nice and full for a stage monitor and will it handle the 5 string low end stuff pretty well?
Many thanks
Derek
Used one for five or six years without any problem.

That’s a great bass fest Mick, forgotten that one!
But we screwed it up by letting the vocalists imitate the brass section at the end with kazoos!
Needless to say, it didn’t make our live album… despite my excellent bassline.😂

For me it’s missing Jim’s rather more interesting original walking bassline - Dave Hill sticking pretty much with
just the root notes ( probably to allow him to stomp about like he does).
Totally this! The fave one I ever played was How Does It Feel…

@neepheid I spy the MarkBass cab you got recently - how is it performing?
Oh, and get well soon. I shut my finger (left index) in a car door before a gig once and the feeling has never totally returned…

! Backstage there are lots of photos of bands who’ve played there over the years,
including The Stones, Thin Lizzy, Quo, Judas Priest, Ozzy and Motörhead.
( They must be slumming it these days having tribute bands on like ours! )
What are you on about? The Stones are their own tribute!😂

Hope so Mick. Being northerners we sometimes think weather reports for southern regions are maybe
a bit exaggerated, but you’ve had it grim down here just lately. Seen loads of trees down and the sea
front last night in Folkestone was wild. Still blustery here today ( we are near Canterbury ATM) so hope
things improve as the day goes on.
Good luck and safe travels! It was pretty stormy in Bournemouth at 7 this am (off to Craven Cottage to see Fulham - United).

Nice to see ‘Keith’s cab’ contributing to your sound!👍
