Bought a box set from me. Ian, that is. Was a present for a friend, which makes him even more of a fine upstanding Basschatter👏

Played in Scarborough this evening, a return to ‘The Lookout on the Pier’ cafe restaurant which
we do quite regularly. Always a great gig with a truly appreciative audience made up of many
regulars. As usual we did the set list from written audience requests, and managed most of
them including ‘This Masquerade’, ‘Make you feel my love’ and finishing the second set with
a very extended version of ‘Another brick in the wall’. My guitarist partner Gary had a bad
cold but still managed to sing all night, albeit more raspy than usual. We’re back there again
in three weeks time.
What’s that you’re playing?

Sold a book to this fella. No problems, great communication- recommended!

A Guild B301. Fretless, if that’s relevant.
Action was okay before.
Same gauge of strings used.
-
It’s a set neck.
Since being last set up, the action has been much worse from the eighth fret upwards which my local guitar shop says means neck needs a reset.
Also there is no play left in the bridge.

I have a bass that may need this doing and have no idea of the cost/complication that might be involved. Can anyone enlighten me please?

May I cheekily resurrect this thread to point out… 😈

Tonight:
The Lounge at Boldmere (Sutton Colefield) with the rock band. Nice place - when we got there, a bloke was being ejected for some light-hearted comedy racism and the bouncer told us there were a lot of d!ckheads out tonight. Yay!
It was full of wideboys, the manager told us it wasn't really a 'Rock' venue and asked could we not play the Motorhead, Pistols, AC/DC type stuff that makes up pretty much our entire setlist. 🤨
We said we'd see what we could do and played the Motorhead, Pistols, AC/DC type stuff that makes up pretty much our entire setlist.
During the first set, there were three or four people dancing at the front and about seventy people watching from the safety of the bar at the back of the room. Gotta love that huge, yawning chasm between the stage and the audience.
A bloke came up to the singer mid set and gave him some money, I assumed they were mates.
When this happened three or four more times, I wondered WTF was going on... was he a staff member paying the fee bit by bit?
Turns out he was some random bloke just giving the singer money.
Bit weird but he cut us all in, so no complaints.
Second set was loads better, everyone was suitably refreshed and they really got into it, the whole place was up by the end.
The manager came up as we were packing up and told us how wrong he'd been, he and everyone else had loved it and that he would definitely rebook us, so that's a win.
Sterling (love that Bass for rock stuff) -> small board -> Sansamp PBDDI -> Markbass CMD 121P.
Used my wireless and went and had a boogie on the dancefloor during the last song - I can heartily recommend it!
Feet update: Red socks and silver Converse.
Second gig with the ACG custom earplugs, they felt tons better than last time, it sounded like us just quieter.
I've lost my voice which meant no BVs... I really missed singing but I did notice myself focusing on the Bass more rather than just doing it on autopilot.
Spent the fee on a Pedaltrain Novo 24 on eBay inbetween sets - Apologies if you were bidding against me. I'll be selling my Classic JR this week if that helps? Now that’s a review! All that’s missing is the band name…

I have a band where I am the youngest at 68!
The 74 year old lead singer is our ‘blockage’, but when I suggest songs for me to sing he is keener to redress the balance!

Not sure where you are based @NancyJohnson, but a visit to somewhere such as https://www.southernukulelestore.co.uk/ would offer a chance to try more than you can possibly imagine ... I've whiled away many happy hours there!
SUS! Were just around the corner from me but now moved cross town to the juggernaut Absolute Music.

Just got in from a Spacewasters gig at Signature Brew in Haggerston, London, first gig with our new guitarist and the singer just doing stand up vox having now dropped guitar. Went really well, one of those gigs without sound check, just plug in and off you go. No errors, very receptive audience and home in time for an Uber kebab and Match of The Day (with Lineker muted of course).
Unfortunately its Alex Scott - Lineker too busy as leader of the opposition. 😈

My interest in music peaked when I could download easily from Pirate Bay; I'd have a listen, buy the album, and often go and see a band.
As the option withered away, so did my interest and I've not really got into watching on YT as much as I might've.
The last band I saw was James Oliver at the Kempton Park Guitar Show - he was really good.
James is a force of nature. He can’t sing but he can sure play guitar!
