I have a set of Rotosound swing bass 66 stainless strings - 45-105. Bought these from sound control just before christmas, but bought the stainless ones instead of nickel and haven't been back to swap them. Offering these at the same price as i paid for them (£14) but including P&P or I'll go back and swap them when i get the chance/can be arsed Also got a set of Fender Super Bass 8250M 45-110TW (the ones with the 110 guage tapered E, the string is tapered down to near the core over the saddle - i suppose they're designed for string through bridges) brand new and unopened. I bought a few sets of these when I was breaking strings regularly, but haven't broken a string in over 18 months. £14 including p&p for these as well. Cheers
Have you not been breaking strings because of the Fenders? Or just a happy coincidence?

I messaged him. Here's what he said
Thanks but this doesn't seem to be the case as even with the string off and the tuner been rewound plenty of times, after a few times going the other way (right way)it gets stiff then stuck.
-
I'm sorry to hear that jono . It ought to be their problem if they don't get the right information from you over the phone. A quote should be a quote. I think I would have have had a rant. It's not god enough. So they had the package and asked for more money? Did you have any options?
If this were ebay APC would get neutral feedback from me. They gave me a price that I paid, collected it next morning, and it was eventually delivered about 2 days later, but no one was in so the buyer had to collect from the depot. So far, so good. However, about 4 hours after they picked it up they called to say they mis-quoted me and it's be another £11 or so, because the volumetric weight was too close to the actual weight (about 40kg) and as it was over 30kg it was deemed a two man job even though I'm weak as a kitten but I could carry it about. If the volumetric weight is 41kg, surely that indicates that the package's going to weigh over 30kg? Anyway, buyer has the amp and no-ones been to collect more money so I think I'm in the clear. Still they were balls, but I think that was mainly Speedfreight, as sh*te-y Kilmarnock company that's part of the APC family or something. APC +0 -

Right, adjusted the hight of string, and it isn't any better.
If you file the nut so that it grips your string then you end up not allowing to move freely in the slot.
I don't want it to grip the string but looking at the nut and string side on, less than half of the string sits in the groove. Also, changing the gauge of the strings doesn't help, it actually makes it worse. I wouldn't have said that filing the nut was a permanent solution, they are easily replaceable.

A friend of mine has a Behringer 8X10 and his brother who is a better friend of mine says it's f***ing awful, poorly made and heavy as hell. I like the MAG heads, I used one for a gig and had loads of compliments on the sound. I thought for a while I was using it through a MAG cabinet but looking at a picture of me using it I can see it's an ABM one. Still great sounding. So aye, +1 on the Ashdown. Go with soundslive.co.uk, MAG 300 heads are £191 and you can get a MAG 410 cab for about £220.
Does it make much difference? OBBM on this here forum will whip you up really high quality leads for a stupidly low price depending on what you need.
Yes. If I've got the head and the cab I'd like to have something to connect them together. At the minute I've got 2 jack to jacks and 1 patch cable for connecting my bass to to the amp through my 2 pedals, but the amp isn't going to work without a cable connecting the head to the cabinet is it?

Anyone?

I'm using 105 gauge strings. I detune the E to D for about half our set. It was a problem that popped up seemingly overnight. I thought it might be from when my local tech fitted me a new pickup and set it up. Should I fanny about with the set up before doing any filing?
-
I've concluded that the problem I'm having with my Low E string is that the nut slot isn't cut deep enough which is why the string keeps jumping out of the slot when I detune (which I have to do, a lot) Is the file I need the sort of thing I could buy at my local hardware store? I don't need or want a whole set of files. What sort of width should I get if I'm filing a low E slot?
Anyone interested in this semi? I quite like it myself.....
I like it too. Might take a punt if it doesn't go too high
There's also this Tokai Jazz Sound. Looks right to me, same as mine only a bit earlier. It's a lot of money. Pluck
Gotta love that headstock logo! Lovely bass! -
That was lies. One more query: Is it speakon or jack sockets on the back of the cabs?

FS: Bass amp (Ashdown ABM 300 head and ABM 410H cab)

That's all I needed to know! Cheers fellas!

The other day I got an Ashdown ABM 300 head from Jay249 on here, but I don't have a cab for it. I've been looking at getting a MAG 210-T, I've used these cabs before but with a MAG head. Will it work with the ABM head? I know the ABM is 325W @ 4ohms, and the Soundslive.co.uk blurb say the cab is 200W @ 8ohms. Will these two be compatible? Or will something blow? I've a vague knowledge of amps/cabs/resistance, and I know that putting the head through the 8ohm cab means the head won't run at full power. If at a later date I get another MAG cab, will they cope if the head is 325W and both cabs are 200W? Does that mean my cabs will have a power handling of 400W? EDIT: I know that someone on here has a similar set up, think it might be Machines.
I picked mine up 2nd hand for <£200. They were on sale at soundslive.co.uk for £250 for a bit too... they ran out around December I think. There was one on the for sale section for £200 but collection only from Bristol. Might be worth asking the seller if he's still selling.
It went on ebay, and in a prickish feat of prickness decided not to mention it on here, and now it is mine. I know, I'm a prick.

Why no refunds? That seems odd to me. Even if there's nothing wrong with it, why bring it up? Also note it is read (sic) and you can see the wood lines on it
-
How much though?
-
I need to get a new lead, but I don't know which kind to get. Can anyone suggest a decent make/manufacturer? I need something long(ish), probably about 2 or 3 metres, and preferably with a right angled jack. Thing is, I can't afford anything stupidly expensive. About £15-20.
-
I'm thinking about buying a cabinet I've seen, it's an Ampeg 2X15 but its a bit of a state. Structurally its fine but the covering is a bit wrecked. Does anyone know how much it would cost to have it done properly and where I could get it done, or how easy it would be to do it myself and what I'd need to do it.
Just called APC. £31.02 inc VAT and insurance, and they're picking it up from my house tomorrow. Just got to find out now if the amp arrives in the same condition it leaves in. It's well packed, several trees died to protect this amp
APC just called me and said that the volumetric weight is about equal to the actual weight, and this'll now cost me another £11 because it's over 30kg and needs to go freight. Surely the volumetric weight is to give an idea of the weight and so when I tell them that the volumetric weight is 41kg that should surely be an indication that it's a heavy f***er? Why charge me £30 and then call me to tell me the weight I gave them was right and that I have to pay more. Not very happy at all. This has to come out of my pocket too because the buyer said they didn't want to pay more than the £30 i charged which is why I went APC.
