1. Do you have more detailed/better pictures? Body/neck/headstock stuff? Cheers
2. You could always stick it in the MarketPlace on here, someone might be tempted. It's on hell of a looker, wish I'd put a tortie scratchplate on my P now instead of the black one
3. That. Is. Gorgeous! How much do those Darkstars set you back with customs and postage added on?
4.
thedontcarebear.
IMO it looks god-awful with the red control panel. But anyway, it looks like what is essentially and ABM combo and a the MK head, so my guess is it's Chinese made
5. As good as SX basses are meant to be, I can't get on with that headstock, it's just too big. I know it'd just take an hour or so with a hacksaw and some sandpaper to fix it but still, bleurgh! I quite fancy one of those 'unbranded basses' that were posted in the ebay links, but their gone
6.
Thats guitarists for you, talk a good game .... thats why mine brings his to me, a humble bassist to work on..... New link sorry about that... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;hl=soldering
Cheers! Invaluable info in there!
7.
Whoever told you that was missleading you.
Total Guitar Also, that link don't work
8. Is that a good 'un? I have no idea about these things, but I'd heard that 50W was too much for general guitar/bass soldering. Wouldn't surprise me if I was wrong though.
9. Bought a set of Jackson guitar pickups (2 singlecoils and a humbucker) from Lee, bargain price from a US-made axe, quick post, well packed, quality guy!
10. I'm looking at buying a soldering iron for my Strat project so I can do all the connections myself but I don't know what to look for. I've heard I should get a low wattage one. What sort of price is good for an iron too? I've seen them for a fiver on ebay, but I assume they'll be junk. Someone on here also bought one recently but it was bigger than he thought. What sort of size to I want it to be? Cheers

12. What difference does it make whether a scratchplate is single ply or 3-ply? Is it just purely a cost saving exercise?
13. I'm glad I stumbled across this thread, it's inspired me to do something with an old Squier Strat body I have festering under the bed. It's not a bass though, would a guitar build diary allowed on here ? A question though. Where can I get spray primer from? Is it a B&Q-able thing?

15. It's odd, why does it have holes drilled for a neck thumb rest and that wee black thing, I dunno what it's for, but not for a bridge cover?
16. oops! got it the wrong way round! still sounds great tho!
17. I was considering having a punt on that one, but I couldn't really justify another P. Nice bargain!
18. That's weird. I saw it yesterday, and should've finished tonight, but when I searched it again today it had 6 days or so left to go. Something seems wrong, but I'd love to have it.
19. Moved, really? I wasn't meaning to draw people attention to the link, it was just meant to be an 'are these basses good, they look good' thread. Oh well.
20. If you don't know what I'm on about:
21. Sorry, wasn't very clear! There's a button on the ABM amps below the input knob. Pressing it in engages a pre-set EQ. Pressing it out engages the amps EQ, which comprises Bass, Middle, and Treble knobs and 4 EQ boost sliders (180hz, 340hz, 1.3Khz and 2.6Khz).
22. I know there's a few: Who uses the Flat/Shape button on it? Mine's an ABM 300 and I was arseing about with it today because it's still new to me and thought I'd give it a go, and I actually quite like the sound it gives! Only tried it with the P, it's nice and punchy, and little bit middley/trebley but not bad, nicely rounded across all 4 strings. Will give it a go with the Jazz tonight too. I like the sound I originally had with it (everything set to between 1 and 2 o' clock, the 4 sliders pushed up to the third or fourth dot), but I like the flat EQ button too. I sit cheating to use a pre-set EQ? I feel it is
23. Really? I'm looking at about £260ish all together then. Just need to find out if it's worth it now or not!
24. This has been on ebay a few times from the same seller, either he has a few or it just doesn't sell. I think it's the latter. Anyway, assuming I bid on this and no one else does, I'd get it for £163-ish and then another £50 for shipping. What sort of customs charge would I get? I bought a Seymour Duncan Jazz pickup for about £33 last year and had to pay £5 for customs, but Royal Mail chucked another £8(!) on for handling. Anyway, has anyone tried one? It looks sexy, and I fancy a nice 5 string. Would I be better off getting a 2nd hand Mexican 5 string for similar money (or possibly less)?
25. With both my Fenders I've found that lightly sanding the neck down improves things a lot. Cuts out any sort of stickiness but I appreciate that not everyone wants to go at their bass with sandpaper.
