Don't suppose anyone spied this semi on the 'bay? I like. I like a lot. I want to put thin strings on it. I don't know why.

I'd like a Squier VM but I can't decide which to get. I like the look of both the Precisions and both the Jazzes. Don't think it matters anyway because I always swap the bridges for BadAsses and pickups for Duncans. But they look awesome and I've not heard any bad reviews of them and you an get them for really reasonable prices. If only there were a 5 string version.
I'm not a fan of that bass, or of Epi's in general, but in fairness the Jack Cassady looks & feels a lot better when you've got one in your hands than you'd guess from the photographs.
It's just the fact that it's got a 335 horn on the top and a Les Paul horn on the bottom that I don't like. I just think it should be symmetrical. The sunburst one isn't too bad but you don't see many of them around.

...But doesn't look so hideous? I love the sound but hate the shape. The bass, not puppets, not cars, not winged creatures that control the elements Honestly, some of the people on here...
-
Also, thats a beautiful EB 2 but I find myself drawn to the Epi headstock over the Gibbo. Anyway, my girlfriend would never allow what she describes as a "big fat bass" in the house
-
There's an Epi Jack Cassady. I don't like it. Gold, and not symmetrical. Actually google image has thrown up a black and a sunburst finish too, but still, ewwww!

I saw that one too. It certainly looks the biz, but it's the original one. Fender re-did the Highway basses, and the new models have a Badass II bridge, Greasebucket master tone, a graphite re-enforced neck and a 70s-style logo. They look much cooler IMO and considering you can pick them up for about £500 it's pretty good value.

I had no idea Michael had left. Just checked their Myspace there and there's barely anything to indicate he'd ever been in the band, which is lame because I really enjoyed his drumming. It was all over the place and one of the things that drew me to the band, what was the reason for him leaving? I've gotta say, Cain looks better without the moustache

Fender Jazz bass - lined fretless - sunburst - MIM.

That is nice! God, why are there always nice basses when I'm skint -
What did Chris Cain play on With Love and Squalor? I've just been listening to it and the tone is awesome! I saw them a couple of years ago and I'm fairly sure he was using a Thunderbird, but part of me seems to think he used a Rick in the early days. Anyone help?

I just like the look. Not the antigua one, I've seen some effing awesome blue ones. I wouldn't ever spend that much on a bass, even if I had 2 G's to spare. I'm sure they are horrible, they were given away as an incentive to join the US army and go to 'Nam. It was that or a radio. True story. That red Hofner's really nice, except it's got sh*tty toy guitar tuners on it. Actually I'd rather have a sunburst Rivoli.

Fender Coronado Outstanding! I've wanted one of these since I first saw one about 5/6 years ago. Probably not in that lovely mushroom-burst tho. Good old Music Outlet Shop have a pretty rough sunburst six stringer too, for a grand less.

Specifically an Ashdown one. I just think cabs look better with out them, but would I risk damaging the bit it's attached to? I don't know if they're screwed on or not (I'm getting one, but don't yet have one) and it'd be good if I could re-attach it if I go to sell it on.
-
Try them both, it's really the only way to decide. Looking at specs and reviews online can't compare with getting your hands on them and trying them out yourself. Although going purely on looks alone, that VM Precision is the one I'd go for. Jazz looks nice too, with the block inlays.

Also you'll be stuck with that Clandestine Industries Bat logo

That Eastwood looks awesome! Very cool. Same with this Di Pinto: Belvedere Standard In Black or Sunburst, not keen on the gold. And for some reason all the Deluxe models have that horrible silver headstock that doesn't even match.
Nice- sounds good, might be worth persevering with. If THIS is any good as regards to a low B then I WANT ITS BABIES
That's nice but what you really want is the sunburst one. There's no picture but the white with a maple board sounds delish! But you fancy a Precision tuned to B? They aren't everyone's cup o' tea but give this a listen: Reuben - Kick in the Mouth: Youtube As a bassist you probably know to watch Youtube with headphones if you wanna hear bass properly, but what a great sound. IMO of course.

I have a MIM Jazz that I bought instead of a P because I was horrendously hungover and tired and couldn't cope with the weight of the P at the time. But last February I went to see Brand New and decided I needed a Precision, and eventually got one about October time. It was a state when it arrived, needed a clean, set up, string change etc but I thought it was weird that it felt a lot lighter than the Jazz. I don't mind though because it sounds a lot bigger which is where it counts!
-
Then the guy's lying, or stupid. Not getting it anyway I don't think, just thought I'd check it out.
-
Yep. That's basically it. Or does a bass head need to be connected to bass cab? And why wouldn't work, if in fact it wont work?
-
Don't think they are as good the XLs, just going by price. Been looking at the 4.5, possibly even the 215, 8 and 4 ohms respectively, but they'd both weigh a ton
-
I wasn't sure cos the 410 XLs £319 and the 2.5s only a tenner less at £239. Soundslive seems to be one of the best for online prices and they have it for £300. Even on ebay there's a second hand one for £225
