Hi Sarah and welcome to the site from a relative newcomer but very regular visitor.

LOL sometimes buying new mic leads can take a fortnight of decision making in the band !! We have a couple of wedding gigs coming up soon so I am thinking of getting the wedding videographer ( if that is the correct term ) to continue filming at the night do and let us have the raw data as one of the band members has access through work to all the editing equipment. Looking forward to seeing your video's Tony
Gotta say..... we have just had ours recorded at a Corporate gig we do regularly..... it's not cheap (5k) but I've seen the pre-production and it's astounding.... HD too.... I have the contact details if your interested
Spotted a tiny flaw in this, the decimal point in the 5K appears to be too far to the right and has left an extra nought lol In fact I think some members of the band would be shocked if I said it would be £500 !! Would love to see the finished video though if at all possible Tony

Hi, we have decided that we want to have a decent quality DVD made at one of our function gigs so we can send out promotional DVD's to the enquiries we get. Has anyone any experience of someone they can recommend ?? We are working to a sensible ( read low ish ) budget but are prepared to pay for something decent ( we have tried doing things ourselves with home camcorders etc and it just looks amateurish ) Hope someone can help Tony

Shake Your Tail Feather and Valerie for soul/funk function band Boys are Back in Town and Rosalie for rock band Tony

Sorry, I also meant to say good luck with the search Tony

I visit another musical website quite a lot ( Rock of the North based in West Yorkshire ) and there seems to be a lot of vacant drumming positions at the moment. Our drummer deps for five more bands !! Might give my Roland TD3's a bash this weekend !!

No gig this weekend but we spent the best part of 6 hours on Sunday learning new songs that are well overdue. 4 of them will be played at our next gig so that should be an exciting night. Tony

Also having a play around with Nina Simone's, "my baby just cares" for a wedding "first dance" that is coming up soon. Lovely descending bass line Tony

Carwash, up early Sunday morning to play it a few more times before rehearsal later today

No gig for me this weekend but thought I would bump this up to remind others to post as I really enjoy reading the mini gig reviews. All the other areas of the forum are excellent to read but when all is said and done it's playing the live gigs that ultimately drive my passion to learn, buy new gear etc Tony
-
Ahh yes the search function, apologies for not checking first and thanks for all the help Just need to keep playing it now and try to get it to fit in the right space at rehearsal Tony

At long last we are rehearsing this weekend and one of the songs I need to master is Carwash. The bit I am struggling with is the fast slap part. I have been on youtube which has helped quite a bit but any more assistance would be most appreciated Tony

Our first visit to the Three Horses in Keighley and another cracking gig with a very friendly audience singing and dancing along. Set up was a little tight ( and we don't really have that much gear ) but we squeezed it in and went on to have a brilliant evening and got re-booked for later on in the year BEFORE they asked what our fee was so we must have impressed the landlord and landlady as well. Tony

Just joined my second band playing rock covers with a great bunch of very enthusiastic and fun to be with guys with weekly practice aiming to do two to three gigs a month max which hopefully should compliment my other band ( soul/funk covers ) nicely ( about 35 gigs a year ) If I am honest I have tried to push the guys in the soul band to do more gigs over the last two years but trying to get 6 people available at the same time ( we occasionally use deps ) seems to be bloody hard work and I have handed the diary responsibilities over to two others in the band who now appreciate the hard work it is ( but shouldn't be ) Looking forward to my new bands first gig Tony

The "Worlds End" is a lovely pub in a beautiful location and I must try to get us a gig there. Glad to hear you had a good night. Tony

Actually it was Thursday night and it was at the Zephyr Bar in Huddersfield where we had an excellent and very lively night to a brilliant audience. Highpoint of the night for me was when a member of the audience came up to the stage and asked the guitarist to move out of the way as he wanted to see the bass player better !!!!! Only downside was when we got talking about a re-booking and we were advised that they were now looking at paying much less to bands in the future. We fully understand the business aspect of venues and that they have to make a profit so we will see what happens when our gig organiser speaks to the manager during the week. Hopefully we can negotiate a mutually agreeable fee as we get a good crowd in and we really enjoy playing the venue. Roll on tonight when we play a new venue for us, the Three Horses in Keighley Hope everyone's gigs go well this weekend

The Deer House in the caravan park at Rudding Park in Harrogate which is a regular venue for us. Another great gig with lots of dancers as everyone is either on holiday or having a weekend break so we always go down well. Two more gigs this week to look forward to plus third rehearsal with my new band.....excellent week of music....I love it !!

I have played about 70 gigs over the last two years with the Behringer BX4500H complete with matching 15 inch and 2 by 12 cab and pound for pound I think it is excellent value for money. I had a problem at first gig with the 15" cab, sent it straight back to GAK who had a replacement to me within 48 hours and had no problems since. I would like something lighter ( Mark Bass perhaps ) but other things taking priority at the moment All in all I have been very happy with it

Wedding anniversary private party at one of our regular pub venues. Another cracker and first with my Geddy which sounded good to me. Just need to get a wireless set up so I can hear it from a distance Tony
