1. My tip would be to answer your pm's and/or respond to replies in your advert. If you had replied to my pm or responded to my reply up above, you would have probably had your yes by now.
2.
Gary, you said it! You know it's true! ;-)
Yes, I will start the search.
3. Never tried flats on my old Wal and now it's too late. I think I need another Wal in my life Trevor.
4. I've been using this stuff for the last year or so, on all of my basses http://www.ducksdeluxe.com/ddaxwax.html Not cheap but it does all surfaces and the strings.
5. let me or one of the mod team know which post and we can help.
6. Pm'd a couple of days back.
7. I was very nearly bidding against you then but got distracted with family stuff and I forgot to go back for the last minute bid.
8. Sounds like a miserable experience I had spotted this one on Ebay. Prices vary, I would pay that sort of money for a good example. For me, that would have to be all original, everything functioning as it should and with the original case, also in good condition. Put it down to experience and keep on looking, there are some lovely early 70's ones out there. Hope you find the one.
9.
Oh no, please buy it now as I find myself all of a sudden in a fever-and-tremors-inducing GAS attack!
I can't help, I'm all spent out.
10. If the look of this bass appealed and given that this is local to me, I would have already gone to have a look. I love G&L's my main gigging basses are 1980's G&L's. This one doesn't do it for me but if you like the colour and you like Precision basses, I'm sure that you wouldn't be disappointed. It's not a bargain price but I think it's a fair price and I would be reasonably happy to pay around that sort of figure for one.
11. He is a regular sell of basses and always waxes very lyrical in his ads. I've been tempted by one or two of his instruments.
12. Really enjoy playing this one with the band and it has been a real crowd pleaser
13.
The idea is fine so long as nothing goes wrong... Who ends up responsible if the courier looses or breaks it? What happens if the bass turns up and it's not as described? seller blames shipper etc... could get very messy.
Was just about to post the same. I still like the idea though
14. Last time I did it, I'm sure it added approx 25% to the total, so that would be £188ish on this. You would be better off trying to calculate it properly though, even if it is a little confusing.
15.
I just killed my set of Daddario Nickels in two gigs - they sound like old dead flat wounds now. Pretty gutted really. I've ordered some Rotosounds which i've had better luck with before now. Maybe Elixirs are the way forward tho - how are they with plectrums tho? I've heard somewhere they start to peel if you cane them hard.
I mostly use a pick when gigging and not had any breakdown of the coating on the Elixirs. One of the sets has probably done a dozen or so gigs now and still no sign of wear.
16. Good for you, sounds like a decent deal
17. I've been wondering the same, given that they are generally held in such high esteem.
18. It's heading up North
19. I always use the same method as Twincam, makes easy work of it. Having said that, I've not encountered them glued in, just normally a tight fit.
20. Having trouble sleeping Nick or is just the hedonistic, rock 'n' roll life style?
21. I like seeing pics of kit, old or new, with or without a review. It's one of the reasons I started visiting Bass Chat all those years back. Will look forward to a full review though
22. Gold seems somehow, more right for that era but Tort is just such a lovely looking material, particularly the 60's variety.
23.
I agree, there is a gorgeous '72 Precision for sale here for less than £2K, I know it's not a 60's bass, but it's complete, and will only become more valuable.
Yes, feeling very tempted to go for this one myself but my bass fund is at present depleted. It is a great example at a very good price but I suppose if the OP wants a Jazz, then it's not going to fit the bill.
