Nice work! Was the bass recorded with your DB500 by any chance? Adrian.

Pick holding hand (right hand) hurts while playing - HELP!
ardi100 replied to larrikin's topic in General Discussion
I get exactly the same thing with my left while playing double bass. I don't use picks often on electric but I do get pain when I do. I'm practicing double bass as much as possible and I hope that will work. -
I'm sorry, Just like Genesis ?? That's probably the first time AC/DC have been compared to Genesis!!

I saw Living Colour in Melbourne in 1993. Wicked show and Wimbish's playing blew me away, even after being a fan. My mates and I went to the only club open late on a Sunday night after the gig and proceeded to get hammered when none other than Living Colour walked in about 2am. I'd had a few by then and got up some dutch courage. I went over to the band and said hello and that I'd really enjoyed their show. Wimbish had a hot looking girl on his arm and I didn't expect him to ignore her but he turned his back on her and chatted bass with me for about 15 minutes!! He was extremely nice and went out of his way to talk to me and my mates. Wicked! Vernon Reid, on the other hand . . .
It's been a while but the last number I have for him is: 0208 691 8300. and he was in a warehouse in Greenwich. Hope this is useful Jake
Thanks for the quick reply. That's the number I've been trying without any luck. Maybe Monday is his day off! Adrian. PS How hard is it to fit your own tail pin?

Hi, Anyone know how I can get in touch with Roger Dawson? It's proving quite difficult! Cheers.

Bass bought, exciting!!

Hi, I've been offered first rights on my school's unused (2nd) Zeller double bass. It feels smaller than other basses I've played and when I measured it, the string length bridge to nut was around 40 inches. So, two questions, then. Firstly, what size is it? Secondly, should I buy it even if it's not exactly 3/4? It's in great nick and sounded lovely. We haven't talked price yet but I think it'll be cheap. Any thoughts appreciated. Oh, and can you just get a longer end pin if it's too low?
I'd take my Squier P on with me it's the most playable bass I have and it's not like I'd have an amp. Anyway there wouldn't be much time for bass playing as I filled out another one of these things but it was '5 hot women to take on a desert island' so I'd be busy most of the time
No amp = double bass!

+1 for a pencil. I put marks on the 5th and 7th fret markers and they wore off as I learned to hear them properly. A week or two and I didn't need them anymore. (and I just put them on again cause I've taken up the DB after a long layoff and needed to!)
Ye cats that GP7's a heejus thing . Still, if it sounds as good as you say... Like Markytbass says, it's really down to just trying as many as possible. I shall just have to go and pester the local music shops. Fortunately, we're well placed for music shops hereabouts...
For those sounds I can recommend a Warwick ProFet 3.2. 300W, £170 odd delivered from Thomann. It sounded great with a 15" EBS cab. Quite heavy, though. Sorted me out for a cheap rig. Or, my new (secondhand) Roland DB500 combo. If you can find one secondhand I thoroughly recommend one. 2 programmable sounds and feels much louder than its 150W.
how about the ashdown perfect 10? Its a belter for 30 watts. 10" cone. Nt too heavy n sounds gd. I jst purchased a 110 tho to go with my 300pro =D
Very happy with my Roland DB500. 150 Watts (sounds MUCH louder) 12" Speaker Portable I'd look around for a second hand combo, they're very cheap at the moment!
Yeah, then you went and sold it to me, who knows how long its going to last Zach
Woops!!! (Nervous laughter. . . ) never had any problems, though!

I used to have no problems lending my rig, but when you go through the settings, explaining the gain knob and then see the red overload light blinking more on than off through their set, that pisses me off. Then we had some advice from an industry insider type. He said "Imagine that some record company guy is there to see you (unknown to you) and you've lent your kit out, it gets broken, and you've got no gear to impress them through." That made me think twice. I have still lent it, but I've been more wary since. Now I've downsized to a small combo, I'll bring mine to every gig I play!

Zach bought my Warwick ProFet 3.2 and was prompt with payments and a lovely fella too.
Actually I thought I'd bought an EBS Microbass
another +1 for obbm, 2 cables ordered arrived promptly and are doin' their jobs!

Are you not interested in a 15" cabinet? I used one with my PreFet 3.2 and loved the sound. 15s and 2 x 10s go well together!
Look at the picture above for outputs, and google will probably tell you the weight.
Hi, The head has: 2 speaker outs, 1 speakon, one 1/4", one DI out (pre or post EQ), a line out and an effects send. It weighs 11.5kg but I've got it all packed up and would probably be 12 - 13 kg with packaging. Hope that helps. Adrian -
I get a drum kit, guitar and guitar amp (1 x 12 combo) jazz bass in a agig bag, warwick Profet head, EBS 15" cab and a double bass in my Peugeot 406 SEDAN!
