  1. Ermmmm sorry but UPS has been the only courier I have trusted over the years. Hermes...omg never. That said I always pack basses industrially protected so it could be even the dumbest courier can't break the contents. And always insure.
  2. This is the four knob two band I am going for... https://www.mojotone.com/Pickups_x/Mojotone-Bass-Pre-Amps/music-man-clone-2-band-bass-4-knob Will let you know how it goes (note: I am not affiliated to this company or any other for that matter...)
  3. I have 10 basses all of them excellent. Space is now at a premium i am am on my way to down one (or two..) five strings and a few 4 strings but happy to trade. I have always horse traded, and met some fine instruments along the way. Time to downsize in the longer term tho.
  4. Decided in the end to upgrade the pre amp. Found an intesresting pre-amp that is a 4 knob two band...going for that
  5. These are great basses and a good working alternative to the full fat and blooming' expensive USA stingray. Good price! have a bump.. GLWTS
  6. Nice clean transaction buying my Spector. Good communication, no issues.
  7. Whoa, just dipped into the single figure ownership after a couple of sales. Oh dear, do Rennie do a 'prevent G.A.S version?' For what its worth my herd.. Zemaitis fretless bass (1989) Dingwall combustion 5 Maruczszyk LT 5 string SBMM Ray34 Yamaha 424x p bass bitsa (Dimarzios) j bass bitsa (fender body, Lindy fralins...) p bass bits 'roadworn' Warwick corvette 5 string Steinberger stick bass kit half done refurb of an old stingray half done frankenbass lp bass body Washburn bantam neck..
  8. I have 11 and three maybe four in bits. I have been playing since 1980, and its the 'internet auction site who must not be named' fault and PayPal enabling me to by internationally so at last count I have owned something like 200. Dont make any money at it or anything just like to own 'em for a while. I can give up anytime (honest).
  9. does the bass have a string tree? Some basses dont have enough break angle of the string across the nut. Try putting a capo at the first fret position, does the sustain improve? try putting some pressure on the g string on the machine head side of the nut again does it change the sustain. Another check would be to see if a slightly lighter gauge g string, if that improves things then get the slot for the g string checks in the nut. De-tune the bass by a semi-tone, if the g string picks up then it could be a build issue at that frequeuncy with the woods used..
  10. Yep I am experienced in setting stingrays up. Seems like a low frequency flat spot in the pre amp
  11. Hi I have owned a USA stingray, a handful of USA SUB basses and a couple of ray34's. Ok, yeah I should have stuck with the USA stingray, but I actually quite like the ray34 for price. Thing is I have just bought a ray 34, brand new and its a bit nasal and lacking the low end heft I would normally expect, initially have changed over to 110/50 set strings and that has helped a bit. Any one else decided to replace the pre amp or the pickup? What were your experiences (good and bad)..
  12. interesting, I had an issue with the Elwood (turned out to be a broken jack socket). Whilst in the hunt for the issue (dead pre amp switching and distortion) I asked what the model of the Delano pre-amp. They offered to replace it f.o.c if it was needed. In the end it turned out to be a broken jack socket...something I have had go on other makes (including high end basses) so I can't take a pop at them for that. I thought offering to replace the pre-amp was a good gesture in keeping with the price tag of the bass... Hope they get their act back together because skimming the above posts they look like they need to get a grip.
  13. Ahhh geddit now. TBH I bought the elwood 'almost' on a whim, primarily becuase its chambered and hence light. 38 years of playing have limited my neck and back to basses less than 10lb if poss. Tonally excellent and nothing has fallen off. The whole expanding through success model is a tricky one, Sire for example are in the same boat (other guitar makes available..) With substandard tuners creeping in after the first flush of success. Who knew that the bean counters dont actually know how to build guitars.
  14. Erm, somewhat bemused by (and new to...) the thread. Seems to be a 'bits I don't like about.." thread rather than a owners thread. I have an Elwood 5 stringer I bought off of this very site and its a quality item. Or am I missing the point?
  15. lol. yeah me too. GAS is bad...bill paying is worse 'cos you don't get a bass at the end...
  16. ok god the last pic of the lego speaker...got me thinking of building a lego cover for my expensive cabs to look ultra crap like that...think is that much lego would probably cost more than the can itself
  17. Nice transaction, promptly paid, good comms, would trade again no issues.
  18. Its currently bolted to the other bits I have up for sale..doesn't have a f***der sticker on it . Frets polished and levelled, one fret extra..21 as opposed to 20
  19. Still here. May part this out if things don't develop..
  20. Looks like I may have to move this to the dark side on on-line sales....to the place that must not be named
  21. Tough market this summertime..check behind your sofa who knows a mid year pressie to yourself might get you over the World Cup hangover....
  22. Can swap a maple neck on for the rosewood averse players out there...even drop the price if I swap the pickups for the more budget minded folk. Talk to me...yeah I know you're broke from watching the glut of sporty things on the TV, but a bass isn't just for the summer...
  23. This is the most excellent active version. She has bite and sits well in the mix. If it wasn't for cash flow I'd be keeping her.
