Any thoughts or recommendations for a 500W (ish) micro amps out there?
tonyclaret replied to Raslee's topic in Amps and Cabs
I see the Fusion has 3 tubes like the Genz Streamliner; Discreet i see you have a Streamliner - any thoughts between the two? I recently had a Streamliner and didn't really get on with it in my functions band, found i was always fiddling to get it less bassy and more mids, but equally it was great for the reggae band i play with also - however i chose to keep my Carvin over the Streamliner mostly due to the versatility of the Carvin. Now, I'm mostly looking for something small and easily portable and perhaps with a bit of warmth as both my Carvin head & current Genz Combo are very clean sounding - i have really enjoyed the Orange Terror in the past but obviously that is too big for the gig bag. Candidates i briefly considered are Eden WTX500, Markbass LM2/3 (are they small enough?), GK MB/fusion, Genz shuttle maybe although something different would be cool, Possibly the EA micro thingy...any others???
No consideration of the Aguilar Th500 then? P.S. My genz shuttle 6.2 is up for sale if you haven't already seen it :-) -
What about the 6.2? I have one for sale on here :-)
It is Solid state. The only worry I ever had was with the VERY first BH500 I had died within the first half hour of using it at home. Thankfully, the replacement sourced for me by the shop is awesome &-touch wood-problem free! I really like the features on the BH500 too & it's lighter than the Hartke head, whilst still being sturdy. So, IF anything did go wrong, having something that has the exact same sound would be best. Now, The Tone Hammer sounds awesome! Again though, it's not cheap. Ta for your feedback though! It's very much appreciated.
Just got a th350, just done 2 gigs with it. Absolutely awesome tone. Love it.
MB1. So Good I bought one Twice! Excellent piece of kit BUMP
Same here, then I sold them both again and bought an ms-60b, but do miss the ease of the zoom b3, so many features too, dr machine, sampler, DI. God im talking myself back into buying one again!

Super pre-amp pedal with built in DI. Great tone shaping. I bought this off here last year, it's in great condition, previous owner sorted the grounding hum which was apparently on some if the early units. Following guides provided by Aguilar. No hums. Superb piece of kit. £120 plus postage This is an 18v unit, adn doesn't come with a power supply. I have a Diago 18v - 9v adaptor that I use, so you can useit with a standard 9v daisy chain. If you require this I can add for a £10 Cheers Pics to follow

Hi, A while a go I installed a varitone in my spare jazz. Having a play with it tonight and I'm still not convinced it's set up or wired correctly as he differences between the changes are more a less unnoticeable tommy ears. Could it be a wiring issue I was definitely expecting more than I'm getting. Is it just meant to be super subtle! If anyone has a diagram of how it should be set up it would be appreciated. I'm using Kent Armstrong lipstick pickups on this if it matters. Cheers Tony

fender 78 jazz transition with micro tilt neck?
tonyclaret replied to jassbass's topic in Bass Guitars
Really, a 1978 with dots? I'd love to get a look at that. Are the pots and pickups dated to '78 too? I always thought that the transition was from late 1980.... Just to note, though many sites, including Fender, state that the S8 serial number was used for 1978, they were often used until a lot later if Fender were clearing out old necks, for instance on the International Colour series which came out in 1981 and used old 70's parts. It could be that the info on the net is of people who have had early 80's ones with dots and S8 or S9 logo's and presumed it to have been made in '78 or '79. Though perhaps they used some of the necks with dots and serialed E0 in 1979 to trial them? Would be pretty cool and quite rare if they exist. At the end of the day though, I'm just interested in the Fender oddities, it shouldn't really matter at all what year the bass is
Yeah, sorry mine dates to 1980. Haven't checked the pots and pick ups. Need to do a bit more research perhaps. -
fender 78 jazz transition with micro tilt neck?
The dots instead of block inlays is wrong for the period so be suspicious. Maybe it had a new fingerboard (which is reflected in the price). If it has a new fingerboard, then other stuff could typically be changed too. £750 is fair if you like the bass and it actually is mostly original. Take caution though mate,
Not strictly true, I'm led to believe. I have one with dots and after some research apparently there were quite a few made with dotted fret boards. Although can't believe every high you read on the net. I bloody hope so though! -
Lovely looking pedalboard there, but the weight could be an issue for some...
Agree, really look the business, but weight would put me off. Dragons den here you come ;-)

Genz Benz shuttle 6.2 plus ToneHammer best of both worlds
tonyclaret replied to tonyclaret's topic in Amps and Cabs
I sometimes run the TH pedal into the return of my Tecamp Puma head in order to get a more vintage type sound. Indeed, compared to the Puma preamp, the sound has much more push in the low mids, and in some rooms, loses definition. You can partly solve this by playing around with the parametric mids of the TH pedal. I don't think you can mix the signature Aguilar sound with anything else and get a good result, because if you add back the treble spectrum, you will lose the warmth again...
Wise words. Just bought the th350 and giving that test drive. See if I can live with the Aguilar sound completely. If not I'll revert to the flexibility of the pedal.
