1. im left handed and play a right handed bass, but am of that certain age where we were converted at school to right handedness as they thought we may be devil spawn, my folks stopped them but when I wanted to play guitar i was offered a right handed instrument and a sound thrashing if I tried any novel ways of playing it other than that of julian breem !

WTF #2

There are some truely insane genious's out there, stop the typical brittish knocking everyone, as they sure play the arse off of me, amazing, although how one ever starts out on that style of playing is a musical mystery to me, I had a go on a chapman stick once, that stuffed me and I do tap the odd chord 4th when playing but as for them 2, the short clip withstanding....im sure a life in jazz on prozac awaits as for the funny faces, go watch robin trower the grand daddy of facial expression. ( whoopsie, ive started having a pop at 'em )
3. Apart from that that has been listed, I also take a 4 pint flagon with me to some pubs with the good beer and take a drop home for later....mmmm
4. I wont knock the tribs, ive played 'em and they are close, but the usa shop basses are just a tad nicer in finish and detail.
5. rotosound 35 to 90 swing bass, I believe they were endorsed by mark king for a bit as were the trace funky guage that are nla, they is bendy too...
6. that makes sense, as I bought 2 1x12 neo's and the leads were in the cab packaging, if I get a newer gk head they may come in use.
7. Let me ask a question, are stable tonewoods as easy to find these days...no. has the use of active eq overshadowed a well balances passive instrument...possibly, are pacific rim licenced instruments as good as luthier finished craftsman built instruments, yes ...until they warp or fall apart,or the frets that were machine pressed in start to lift, an old instrument if well looked after and correctly used will have stabalised over the years and as for the weakening of pickups magnets, this is often somthing that enhances the sound, I have both older basses and newer ones, the oldies are the best for me, I was a music shop manager in the mid 80's and saw alot of poor instruments which are now termed as classic or vintage, but as the old saying goes, you cant polish a turd, so its yes and no, use your discretion.
8.
"I might be a bit out of touch, but Cascamite was what my Dad (and woodwork teacher at school) were always pushing - and it looks like it's still available..." Cheers guys - will check them both out! Nik
yep as above, when i worked in a guitar shop the luthier always used cascamite and made a roux with wood powder so you couldnt see the repair, but the way, how ya doing nik ?
9. Glad I cancelled my gig at the shed this week, it was a long haul from essex to leicester.

12.
Vastly underrated player, he obviously knows the fretboard inside out which you can see when he fills. I think even his playing on 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is brilliant, not exactly flashy or overly technical but extremely melodic and tasteful!
+1 When the bass is that good you hardly notice it, untill you go to learn it, a great tone, good melodic structures and always in the pocket with roger taylor.
