Pedalboard Newbie, easy question, with pics...

[quote name='xgsjx' timestamp='1359549263' post='1956366'] I've never had any trouble with pics & there's proof in the photography threads. But I think I know what it might be... Did you put the Flickr URL in the picture link (by clicking on the wee box & then pasting the code in)? If so, that might be the problem. If you take the BBCode from "share" (on your Flickr page image) & then just paste it straight into this comment box, it should show ok. [/quote] I'll have a look at that, I just right click on the image, copy, and paste it into the thread reply. Its been working fine like that forever, but i may try a different approach. From what I'm reading, pretty much ecveryone seems to be having difficulties with pics on BC at the mo. Thanks for the help, and tip. -

[quote name='NoirBass' timestamp='1359528377' post='1956085'] Still can't see the pic! [/quote] Photobucket site seems to have been crashed for the last month, Flickr images posted only last 24 hours before disappearing, who knows why??? It would appear from other posts that picture uploading is still a major issue on this site, I'm sure the powers that be are doing all they can? -

[quote name='xgsjx' timestamp='1359398579' post='1954211'] Albums on Flickr are called "Sets". click on a pic so it's the only one you can see & then at the top of the pic, click "Actions" & a dropdown will appear. 5th thing down say's "Add to set", click this & name your set. You can then add photos to the set. Hope that helps. I'd get rid of one of your EQs & add an octaver & a filter. But you're right to play about with what you have just now. [/quote] Fixed. Many thanks! Yeah, I'm gonna have a play around with 'em, see what suits. They'll probably be on ebay after a month!! -

Pic back on, not sure what happened there, my phoitobucket account doesnt seem top work, so i started with flickr, just as crap, as you can't seem to create albums? Anyway, here it is again; I thought i knew what i wanted, but after the last 6-8 posts, I'm more confused! More playing with what I have first i think! That space on the right is killing me though! Thanks for all the comments, and help though, been more than helpful. Rick -

[quote name='xgsjx' timestamp='1359295243' post='1952570'] If you get an octaver, I'd have a shoogle around with your pedals & see what order is gonna give you the best use. I like the OC at the start so I can affect the sound that it makes. If it was at the end & used on -1 oct only, then I think there's little point having the other effects on at the same time. But play about, getting your layout is 1/2 the fun of having a board. [/quote] This makes sense, its all new to me (I'm used to max 2 effects, normally none to be honest), so there'll be lots of shuffling around, and playing going on. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Rick -
[quote name='Chris Horton' timestamp='1359273380' post='1952266'] Rick your collection looks just fantastic up on the wall! I could look at those bass guitars all day What a beautiful collection , much more fun that hanging a picture on the wall I love the whole display but I particularly like the little extras , like the tweed guitar case stand? The fender wall logo's and the '52 bass man amp ! That's my faviorate. Is the tweed guitar case a vintage item or something that is currently on the Market ? Thanks for sharing the pics Rick it is really appreciated as you don't get to see such great examples like this everyday. [/quote] Thanks for the comments Chris, appreciate that. The tweed stand/case is still available. I think they started making them in the early 90's, they do a 3 or 7 guitar version. Also available in black tolex. I think GAK have some?? The wall signs are actually old plastic advertising boards, that sat on the front of cardboard guitar display stands in fender dealer's stores or on the fender stand at exhibitions, guitar shows. There's various different styles through the era's. These are from '61. This is what the complete stand would look like; Best, Rick

[quote name='johnDeereJack' timestamp='1359199368' post='1951396'] Another +1 for the OC-2, Rick. The OC-3 can't hold a candle to the OC-2 even though it claims to have the original OC-2 mode .I had an OC-2 years ago and was looking for a new octaver so I A/B'd the OC-3 nad the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe (couldn't find an OC-2 and the MXR was getting rave reviews) and the difference was night and day. Tracking issues asside, the OC-2 is so much warmer and way more organic than it's newer counterpart. OC-2 all the way but if you're having trouble locating one then the MXR does a pretty good job too. Have also heard good things about the Aguilar Octamizer if it's specifically an octave pedal you're looking for, but have never used one. [/quote] Thanks for the info, and recommendation. Looks like the OC2 is in pole at the minute. I'm going to have to stick with Boss, I'm afraid my OCD couldn't cope with something different in that board!!! It even has to be brown, so the Octave gets it, i think sound wise we've covered enough bases there too, so all good. Now on the hunt, there's a few about, although not cheap, we'll see...... -
[quote name='BassBod' timestamp='1356715925' post='1912905'] Fantastic collection...but the lack of strings on the '56 is bothering me! Please explain.... [/quote] Bassbod, apologies, i didnt mean to set people's OCD's off, I have enough of those myself !! I hope it hasn't caused you too many sleepless nights! I took it apart for some close-ups pictures of the parts, for a magazing article i've been helping with, and didn't have any spare strings when i hung them all up. Here it is, back together, the covers are also back on the '52 now, so you can rest at ease now that everyones fully clothed! Rick.

[quote name='Doddy' timestamp='1359155214' post='1951045'] It's more 'synthy' than some other octave pedals (like the EBS) but it's just a great sound, especially with the direct signal turned all the way down. It's got a few glitches, but you can work with them. If I only take one effect to a gig,it's the OC2. [/quote] Useful info, thanks Doddy, I think I'm gonna youtube the oc2 and oc3, and see what's what. Thanks. -

[quote name='Beer of the Bass' timestamp='1359151237' post='1950980'] The OC-2 works nicely with bass, but as it's monophonic, it needs clean playing to track well. It's quite limited, but cops the slightly synthy sounding Tony Levin/Pino Palladino thing perfectly, as I think that's what they both used. I haven't used the OC-3 - it looks more versatile but the OC-2 is the archetype. [/quote] Thanks. I quite like the traditional, vintage thang, so i may have to do some more research on these two. Appreciate the info. -

[quote name='Beer of the Bass' timestamp='1359150400' post='1950947'] An OC-2 would be a great choice for the empty spot IMO, visually and sonically. OK, it's not the Bass series, but it's 80s Boss and a bit of a classic. I must pick another one myself some time! [/quote] The OC-2 is a better visual match for sure, but can it be used with a bass? I assumed not which is why they did the OC-3?? -

[quote name='tonyquipment' timestamp='1359150348' post='1950942'] stick an oc3 on the end of it.. great pedal [/quote] Yeah, thats what i said above, seems like the best fit! Thanks, second opinion is good enough for me! Cheers. -

[quote name='tonyquipment' timestamp='1359149446' post='1950915'] tape them up if you dont need them, simple as. edit: ohhh vintage boss bass pedals... [/quote] Many thanks, appreciate the info, I should have worked it out. Something didnt ring true, i thought it should return somewhere to complete the loop, but it would appear the wiring is parallel not series, which makes sense. They look nice together the Boss Bass stuff, trying to work out what to use as the 6th (They only made 5 in this series). A Super Octave might fit in, similar colour, albeit a bit bronzier than the brown of these ones. Thanks again for the time replying, Rick. -

[quote name='lefrash' timestamp='1359149297' post='1950912'] Do you mean your power supply has one cable coming out that fits each pedal? Like a dasiy chain? If thats the case, I'd just gaffa tape the spare ends up and tidy it up. Dont think they need to go anywhere really. Just gaffa them up and they'll be fine. Make sure they dont touch other metal things whilst there out like that! [/quote] Yes, as the picture. Thanks for the time to reply, taping them up until i get a tuner in there will do the job then. Nice one, appreciate the info. I thought they had to be looped.
