1. Not sure 'happy' is the right word, but perhaps 'satisfied until I find something better'... The key for me was finding the Sansamp RBI, of which I now have two. It has a number of key advantages that keeps it as my 'what-I-plug-into' device regardless of the rest of the kit: 1. It has a flexible and responsive EQ, plus enough input gain range to dial in pretty much any sound you want. 2. Its many outputs include a proper electronically balanced DI, with front-panel level control, which I can connect to the house PA, tell the engineer to flat the channel EQ and I know that what's coming out of the PA is exactly what I want. I can also send him a dry feed from the (also electronically balanced) un-effected output if I wish. 3. Its output topology also means that I can keep my stage sound fairly distinct from that in the PA, because I use the unbalanced effected feed for my backline and then use the EQ on that device to deal with any peculiarities on stage and control my onstage volume 4. Its FX loop is quiet and has a choice of input levels so I can easily trim levels on the odd occasion I use effects. I mostly use it with a Korg rack tuner in the FX loop which gives me silent tuning (by muting the Korg) 5. It has a built-in PSU so no need for silly wall-warts, just shove an IEC lead up it 6. I use it as a preamp in front of a MarkBass head and keep the master output around half with the preamp input on the MB also around half, which gives me plenty of level whilst keeping the noise floor low. However it just about has enough output to drive a stereo power amp if I wished, depending on the amp's input sensitivity (though TBH I don't care for this as the sound is too hi-fi and not gritty enough). I've been using Bergantino cabs for a couple of years and am extremely happy with them, comfortably the best bass cabs I've found yet. 7. Perhaps best of all, by using it I can get consistent results wherever I go, even if I'm using someone else's backline, an unfamiliar PA, pretty much anything I might encounter. It's been with me through various combinations of Trace-Elliot, EBS, SWR and MarkBass amps and cabs, and it's the one thing I always miss when I don't use it. BTW, in case you're wondering, I don't work for Tech 21 / Sansamp, I'm just a happy camper with my RBI - check it out here: http://www.tech21nyc.com/products/sansamp/rbi.html If anybody is sad enough to want to see my little racks then I'll post a pic for you. Enjoy your playing and your gear but remember - almost all the sound is in your hands, not in the equipment! Wiggybass

I've used one of these as my main gigging bass for the last few years...if you're after a P-Bass sound you'll be hard pressed to find anything better. Good luck finding a buyer, someone will wind up with a great bass. DW
3. Hi chatters For various reasons it's time that this lovely instrument went to a new owner. It is a Fender Custom Shop '55 Reissue in their 'Closet Classic' finish. This means 'lightly distressed' so the lacquer is gently cracked pretty much all over and there is the odd minor dent here and there. You don't see these things about too often, either new or used, and in particular in this colour. It comes with the CS case, metalwork and all the gubbins, including the original set of flatwounds, except the CS Certificate which a prior owner had managed to lose. It is very light (under 8lbs) and as resonant as you like. The neck is a fairly chubby C-section, the skinny frets are in good shape and all the electrics work perfectly. It has been slightly modified: 1. The cup-style jack socket has been replaced with a flat version to enable the use of right-angled jacks 2. Because it's a gigging instrument I fitted it with Dunlop Straploks (and I'll include the bits that go on the strap) 3. The original pickup (which, frankly, was crap) has been replaced with a Seymour Duncan Quarterpounder which works very well indeed. The original pickup is in the case. If you're interested and you haven't played one already just be aware that this is probably the LEAST versatile bass ever made - it is really the ultimate one-trick-pony, albeit a very good trick indeed. Forget yer Marcus / Victor / Stanley tones, this thing is all about producing a large noise designed to hold down the bottom end in a band scenario playing any style of old-school rootsy music. Blues, R&R, R&B, Motown, classic soul, dub, electric folk, any ensemble which needs a big bottom (missus) is cannon fodder for this thing. For all that kind of stuff there is really nothing much to touch it - it is the ultimate in simplicity and proves that Mr Fender just got it right first time 60-odd years ago. Cash price is around £1500-ish but to be honest I'd rather trade it for something interesting around the same value, maybe with a bit of cash either way. Ideally I'd like to find a Fender Custom Shop Jazz Bass in a straight trade but tell me what you have. Willing to travel within reason, located near Worcester. Sadly I haven't been able to work out how to upload images onto this site so you can see pics of the beastie here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1...b006&type=1 Many thanks for reading! 7. Hi - I can't quite make it out in the picture, is the serial number E18879 by any chance? Just looks very like a 'Ray I owned a while back. Cheers!
8.
Thanks However unless vintage/mid 90s/classic series then I would require a cash adjustment. Stephen.
Fair enough - make me an offer already!
9. Hi - I have a nearly-new Stingray 4, sunburst with maple f/board, with EBMM case etc. It's really well set up and plays so easily it's ridiculous. I wasn't planning to move it on but I really do fancy a Big Al so long as it isn't too heavy. My 'Ray is about 10lbs which I can just about deal with. No ready cash at present but let me know if you're interested in talking further about a trade. Can supply photos of the 'Ray if you want them. Cheers! Wiggybass
