So as some of you may know i have a thing for white jazzes and finally bought a 75ri in white (again!) and had enough to buy the bartolini neck and bridge humbucker and audere preamp to create a totally awesome looking and sounding bass. I took it still stock back to a rehearsal in Leicester at the weekend intending to drop it in at my regular luthiers afterwards and pick it up next time... Only It was awesome as it was!, it sounded lovely and fat and burbly and now im unsure wether to do the mods even though im a pretty much dyed in the wool active bass player! I bought it specifically to mod Grr! Im wondering about just doing reversible mods first so just sticking in the pair of regular barts and an east pre off my blue jazz so there is no routing, rather than having an MM bucker fitted and side jack for thr audere jz4. That way if i think its a mistake then i can restore it to stock!, or proceede with the audere/MM mod. I understand the audere sounds quite natural anyway. Darn! Thoughts? ( I think i know what you'll say!) But just think how cool it would look (shallow! :blush: ) with the bart neck, Bart MM in the bridge, badass and a four knob audere!

Im having some trouble resisting a barrage of knob gags here but ill cut to the chase! Just got an EMG btc system and it comes with foul black knobs, i have sourced a suitable stack knob replacement but none of my spare chrome knobs fit the split shafts, they seem a tad larger than usual (see how hard it is to resist!) Anyonw know where i can lay my hands on a pair of shiny new (pref flat top) chrome style knobs for EMG size shafts??? (phew, i was pretty restrained there!) will these fit??? Pearl pickguard, detuner, badass (already done) followed by an audere jz4 a bart jazz pup at the neck and a bart MM bucker at the bridge....pimp! Then im replacing my east retro in my blue 62ri with an emg circuit to match the pups better and poss either selling it (the pre not the bass!)... ... or sticking it and the pups from the fender into my squier VMJ jazz, ...... or just the stock passive stuff from the 75 and selling the guts of the squier and the east and getting the squier deluxe V! ?!?! (im an endless modder!!) ...Except for my ray and KSD which are just perfect....apart from detuners and a boatload of extra shielding!, and pearl pickguards....(im a lost cause!)

Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!! Reckon ill just try and pick up a used regular v-amp as that seems to be the easier option its just for home practice, but going straight to my current 2 channel headphone mixer thingy sounds a bit uninspiring so the regular desktop vamp sounds like a plan!

I didnt get along with the GT6, i found it too long winded and variable in terms of effects volumes from patch to patch from gig to gig, i also strangely preferred (and still do) the sounds from my crusty old zoom 506 (i know!) i really wanted to like it, but just found seperate pedals and the zoom worked so much better (for me) but im sure im in the minority on this one!

Thanks, i checked but couldent download the manual (vista complained) it looks like it has dual quarter inch line inserts on the back which i assume would do it???

I m curious about the behringer v-amp pro (the rackmount one) Anyone know if i can plug an ipod into the back and use it to practice along with through headphones?, so i can get the music unaffected and get the modelling and fx etc on the bass at the same time?

I also found the Profet VERY quiet for the rating, although nice sounding i believe the volume pot keeps adding all the way round rather than topping out at 12 o clockish, but not 100 percent sure

I played there a few years back with another AOR act, nice place went up and back in a day in a transit though, that sucked!

so glad not not be alone! i also punched the hell out of fender jazz bass special a la Duff when i was like 17, only to realise i was wearing a ring, and it now had pockmarks all over it!, ah well

I did my first ding in my new cij jazz today, a brand new less than a monh old 2008 75ri jazz and while screwing the badass on, looked away, slipped and put a small dink and a scratch in the paint on the forearm bout. Thankfully i intend to gig it so im not too gutted, but i was kinda hoping to keep this one a bit nice looking as my blue jazz is tatty as hell. Pics soon when the mods are finished! Any other painful dink stories?, especially that painful first walllop!
