3.
Well jobs mine if I want it! Always helps if you can fix the PA when you get there (Behringer desks... pants). They were particularly impressed with the Ox sound that I had (courtesy of 'W' & TF with a liberal application of finger attack) added to which I rattled through the 9 songs that I knew, did 3 that I didn't know, then did some harmonies whilst playing. Damn I was having fun Luckily they are sound-a-like but NOT look-a-like (couldn't get away with that fringe cut I'm afraid) Which leads me on... The jobs mine if I want it BUT their present bassist didn't even know about the auditions. It appears he's getting tetchy with the band as they want to step back from 8 gigs a month to an average of 3, problem is that he's just shelled out £6k for bass gear on the never-never. Ah! I don't want to dump on a fellow bassist so I need to look into the background to this situation. Thanks for all the help guys, I'll update if anything happens.
Could be a difficult situation, especially if the existing bassist is a BCer!! Handbags at dawn!
4. I really doubt that they will be like the lesbians that feature in my many "documentaries" that I have at home.
5. I dont have any of the effects as such, but I use the AB100 switch box to switch between my 2 basses. It does the job. Boxes are plastic so wouldnt stand up to heavy gigging. I would recommend the GLX range of pedals over the Berrys. They are BOSS clones (metal cases)but half the price. They are available from Dangleberry Music on Ebay.
6. Si The pics certainly do suggest a genuine 57 P Bass. The serial number is 1957 The slightly raised pole pieces under the A string are year consistent. The button on the back of the stock (missing) is consistent. The slot screws instead of Philips on the machinehead plates is correct for 1957. If the bass is the sellers, it’s a 57 P alright. How much?? Neil
7.
Another one from Chelmsford! Whereabouts?
Near to ASDA...........and Im happily married thankyou very much!!

I dont have the space for it anymore, and she dont want it so its got to go. Its quite a deep sofa. Its a darkish lime green colour. Could do with a bit of a clean. Very comfy. Its free to whoever comes collect it. Im in Romford, Essex. Nick
Have you been burgled?
9. Accept a butt kick for not knowing any Who songs. How about I do the audition, impress the arses off them and you do the gig? I know a site with all the who songs on, most are accurate!! Its split into sections for Guitar and Bass. Handy!! Who Songs PS PM received!! Best of luck Warwick mate, Im only a bit jealous. I will teach you The Real Me if ya fancy a trip to Essex!!

15. Yes...and yes. Just run a jack lead from the line out on the rear to a power amp. I use one and love it, but I think we are a minority bunch. Great amp for the money (if you get a good one). Ive read about reliability issues with some.
16. I think i know what the problem is, I has the exact same thinh happen when I bought my TE cab in from a garage where it had been for the winter. You will find that the voice coil on one or both of the drivers has corroded and is sticking, hence the noise being intermittent. The damp cold air gets to the coils if exposed long enough. I had my drivers replaced and the cab was fine after that. Take a look at www.bluearan.co.uk for replacement drivers.
17. May I suggest a 100w solder gun. I used one to do some work on the mains fusebox in my house. I'm in Ward 4B if you want to pop in and say hello.
18. Its a fake....Fender didn't start fitting pubes to basses until well into the 80s.
19. The "er" was only attached to the "Fend" on the transition logos, never on the spaghetti type (as used from the start and on reissues etc).
20. This new logo was introduced in 1995 on the Deluxe USA P Basses. The SN should be on the back of the headstock if its genuine. Looks OK to me. Just be cautious if your thinking of getting it. Its a 22 fret neck, standard on the Plus and Deluxe Ps of the period. These models had longer top horns than standard Ps to help with balancing the longer neck. It will look daft on a standard P bass body, in fact it may not even fit the neck pocket.
21. No wonder they split, using all that sh*te.
22.
Cheers Do I need flux in a tub?
Not unless your doing the central heating pipes too! Electronics solder is fluxxed already.
23.
I've had loads of goes. always messy and the solder comes off the base of pots etc .. Any clues? What sort of iron should I use? What's the best/easiest solder - type? make? sources -Maplins? Is there a book? Youtube instructions? Online tips and stuff? Anyone near Cardiff offer to teach me? Thanks
A small 15w iron from maplin will do. Solder is solder - get the thin stuff. Get a solder iron stand with sponge, makes life easier. Thats all you need. Best thing to do when soldering wires on to pot cases is roughen the metal case first with a small file or screwdriver. This will give the solder something to bite onto.
