1. they were also vinyl covered pre Gibson.
 2. Hi mate I have racked my TE amp, albeit not one with the UV light fitting at the bottom. However, I have a Stagg 4u case and the lids are about 3 to 4 inches deep themselves, so would easily cover the protruding light casing.
 3.
Is this the model that doubles as a racklight?
It probably is, if its the BTR2000,yes, its has a rack light. Here's mine, very pleased for the money!!
 4. Beauty (and what constitutes porn for that matter), is in the eye of the beholder. You ask for views - to me that is about as "porn" as Anne Widdicombe pleasuring herself. Ive always disliked Gibson style basses. Im sure someone here will give a differing view.
 5.
You're not wrong and personally, I find it a bit much that people come on selling stuff at this time of the year that's overpriced and their post isn't even prefaced with any kind of pleasantries or season's greeting.. Let alone not contributing anything else to the good life of this forum at all.. Sorry - Just makes me cross!! New Year rant over!
have to agree mate.
 6.
Well, you see the reason I ask is that through most other amps I've tried, it sounds fine. I just have a feeling its the Peavey/Ashdown combo thats screwing with me.
Ah, I see.
 7.
Tell me if I'm wrong guys, but haven't these been going for £700-£800 at most on e-bay? Nice bass and a happy new year!
Yes, as said above, the asking price is optimistic, to say the least.
 8.
And the new rig amplified (no pun intended) this problem?
Probably. Sh*t in, sh*t out, however good your amp/rig is.
 9.
I'm currently running a MIM jazz (Stock apart from the Series/Parallel switch) through a Peavey MAX450 and an Ashdown MAG 115. The thing is, I can't get a "classic" jazz tone out of it. It sounds way to honky in the parallel mode, and when its in series, its beefy and a great. but It sounds too much like a P-bass, which Is not what I'm looking for. However, Ive also got this thunderbird type thing, which I built myself. Mahogany body, Maple neck, J+MM pickups (generic no-name brand ones I got off the bay and an old cheap plywood bass) And it sounds like how my Jazz should sound. Punchy, beefy, and not honky at all. Is there something I should know about Peavey/Ashdown gear? I know that Ashdown rigs sound very beefy, and I found that Peavey's are more "transparent", but I don't see how it can make my previously average sounding thunderbird sound awesome, and make my previously awesome sounding Jazz less awesome. Suggestions? My old Laney practise combo had a built in compressor, but I don't think the Peavey really has one (unless you count DDT?) so could that be making a difference? I've just got some new batteries for my little zoom Multi-FX, I might give that a shot.
Probably the cheap pups in the MIMs is the problem. Install a set of Wizards to give you the growl you search for, young Padwan.
 10. Hi Davide. Verona is a beautiful city, you are lucky. I got married in Italy, so Im biased. Neil
 11. I know that this is a "subjective" test but i would appreciate any comments from Bcers who use or have used TE amps with warwick cabs. I currently have a TE AH300SMC which is great. i run it through a 4 ohm 2 x 10 Peavey cab, which again sounds really tight and gives me that TE sound I missed so much. However, for larger gigs, I would like to get a 4 x 10 4 ohm cab and the Warwick takes my fancy: http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_wca_4104_pro.htm Would the warwick cab "colour" my nice TE sound too much? The Peavey sounded quite neutral so didnt detract from the "scooped" sound of the TE. Any comments/advice appreciated. HNY to all!!!
 12. Also, really like the philips screws holding the plate on. I accept that he has not put any descriptive text on the auction, but the header states its a 66.
 13. Bought cab some months ago, nice bloke. Comes from Essex.....need I say more!!!
 14. You may get specific advice if you ask a specific question Cliff. Do you want views on what pedals/effects do what? Do you want advice on connections/setup etc? In other words, your question is a bit vague.
 15.
The EBS and DHA all have a lot of happy users on here.
I use a DHA Purist Bass as a pre pedal. Luvvly jubbly.

 20.
I'm interested in all this talk about sticking 2x10 cabs on their ends. Nearly everyone on here seems to recommend doing this, I just want to know why? How does this improve the sound? Especially if you had a couple of cabs, surely putting them one on top the other is the same as them both on end side by side? Tell me why!! I need to know!!!!
theres a techy explanation to do with the dispersal axis of the cones, they tend not to clash if on their ends. Sounds better on their ends IME.
 21.
I'm not much of a slapper, but I'd say plenty of compression and a scooped eq.
+1
 22. The s/plate is not original, theres no thumbrest holes above the E string. Also that "access slot" next to the neck heel is not authentic. The logo etc seems date correct, however the string tree looks like a replacement. Anyway, the phrasing in the summary eg: During the professional setup of the guitar the bridge as replaced to help the setup of the action. The bridge that was fitted in its lifetime was not for this guitar. sounds like some foreigner has written it. So, its probably a genuine 75 P with a few replacement parts.
