First ambition I ever had was to be a lighthouse keeper. It seemed a wonderfully romantic proposition. Out on a small wave beaten rock, miles from anyone. Bliss. Perhaps not a 'normal' dream for a very young boy, but there you go.

I removed a pedal which I thought was introducing some unwelcome noise. Imagine my distress then when I plugged in at rehearsal to have my band mates recoil in horror at the racket coming from my amp. Before I started playing that is. I only hear a half of it as the upper end of my hearing is pretty shot away, but what I could hear wasn't good. I had, in my naivety assumed that using battery power would eliminate such issues, but evidently there is more going on than I realised. I am assuming that I need to strip it down and go through it lead by lead, pedal by pedal to find the culprit. I'm posting here for you to chip in with ideas, what to look out for how best to test it.

Just received mine from Thomann and it's a great pedal, thanks @Baloney Balderdash for the heads up. The boost setting alone is worth the money and having the option to boost the bass makes a highly desirable racket.

I actually enjoy soldering! I suspect because it reminds me of my dad. I am however really bad at it. If I want to make a mundane set at the local a truly exciting experience I just use my own homemade cables.

I had no idea about licensing. The router we use with our wireless desk is 5.8 too so we're really living life on the edge.

It's difficult when people queue up to bash a brand. How do you know how many of them actually used the gear versus how many just join in repeating received wisdom? As you say you may have been unlucky or Behringer pedals may indeed be unreliable. I know plenty of people use their PA gear without the slightest hesitation. I have an amp and cab from way back when which still sounds great.

I thought so. He has a knack of imparting information clearly and succinctly. Doesn't hurt that he is such a versatile bassist either.

I have to say it - some of them are way better than Boss. And the plastic they're made from doesn't affect the tone and is actually a hard substance which doesn't dissolve on contact with the air ☺️

They don't make effects but Funny Little Boxes is an independent retailer. Another smashing bloke to deal with too. If he hasn't got it he will track it down for you.

I fear I'll miss mine horribly when it goes but health issues have put me out of a couple of gigging bands and I can barely lift the thing so all in all it's not going to get used.

You need an SVT in my opinion. I have been holding mine for another Basschatter ever since I had it completely overhauled and revalved. If he decides he does not want it, I'll be listing it here.

Let me know how you get on please. I'm a comparatively dainty size 9 but was struggling to land on a couple of switches at rehearsal. I wondered if these toppers might help.
