bump the measurements were taken from the scanned image not from me holding a ruler or tape against the item btw (which i would argue with my cad/illustrator knowledge is more accurate than eyeballing a measuremnt with a ruler! but nonetheless still open to 'interpretation' as to where you place your start and end points for measuring - if you print the image you should have an accurate 1:1 scale to be able to take measurement from) -
I think some semi-pro bands have ideas far above their station about what they actually do and some of them are very misguided about how good they are and what they sound like.
having done a few function band auditions just lately id say this +1 some have been fine and i would have accepted if they had offered but some were just a bunch of egos riding the 'function band reputation' and even if i had been offered would have politely declined
Steve, you know too much about this
... as leschirons said earlier ... he is probably one of the most discussed bass players on here everything i know - i learn from basschat edit - in fact if any mods are reading this then they really ought to consider setting up a separate subgroup for the HJ threads
Just realised that in ... hang on, quick calculation... 38 years of playing bass I've only played one cover. It was Badge, the Cream ditty, eons ago. Am I missing out? Judging by the videos you lot have posted I might be.
most excellent! from henceforth all songs/tunes/numbers etc are to be referred to as Ditties

have done a couple of function band auditions just lately with unsuccessful result and always the bands end up with a least a dozen hopefuls to try and squeeze in on each occasion ive told them that im ok with 95% of their set list anyway and they just send over a list of about 5 songs one thing that has struck me recently is that with the way things are financially, more players are looking to function band gigs as supplemental income rather than the pub-band ethos of doing it for the craic and a wee bit of pocket money so to go completely against what mr skanks has said above, to draw an analogy, if i were applying for a part time job i wouldnt be asking the potential employer if i could choose my own interview questions i dont think having the songs specified by the band is unreasonable or precious in any way - unless they prove otherwise by their behaviour when you meet them! edit .... and dont forget... you are auditioning them as well!
