Squier 40th Anniversary Precision Bass - thoughts
Davebassics replied to cetera's topic in Bass Guitars
I've got a fiesta red CV P bass from 09. Its a fender killer. I love it so much, I retired it from gigging duties. Its now strictly for home use, it's the bass that I'll keep forever! Over the past ten years, I've had MIM, MIJ, MIA fenders, SBMM stingray, USA stingray and a Warwick thumb. They've all came and gone, none of them fit me like a glove like the CV which I understand is a highly personal thing. For me, there is something very safe about cheaper basses. A lot less anxiety about having money tied up in an instrument that can devalue or get damaged or whatever. I just feel more free to enjoy playing music on it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way? -
There is a channel between both pickup routes to the control route. There is no route to the bridge. Quality is decent as you would expect from a machine made body. Smooth finish, tidy routes. I haven't tested any aftermarket necks on this yet. I'm having second thoughts about this sale, sort of fancy getting a fretless neck and picking up the initial plan!

Could be a connection problem or a bad relay. I'm no expert

When it "settles down" does it snap back to normal volume or does it fade back to normal volume gradually?

It can be difficult to navigate the bass market. I certainly made mistakes when I was new and didnβt know what to look for. Over time, you pick up what to look for and especially on basschat, you get to know the reliable names (if not faces!). I think your biggest tool is the bass chat market place. If you see a deal that appeals to you, try and compare as like for like as possible to sold items in the marketplace. The search function is your friend. Iβve always found the marketplace a good indicator of fair pricing. Try your best to not be sold by the sellers sales pitch. Good instruments find a way of selling themselves at fair prices. Anything priced low should be as off putting as something priced high. And yes, +1 to βdonβt pay for other peopleβs upgradesβ is generally a good rule to live by. -

Good shout on the white! I think you did well to narrow itself down to 2 options!

I could probably stomach grabbing an Electra and putting new electronics in it, but I don't think I could live with myself pulling the trigger on a California knowing id want to replace parts on it immediately.

I super dig the asthetics of these basses, can definitely see myself playing one. Reports are unanimous that they're great to play. They're just not my cup of tea in terms of tone. I'd love it if they did a version that was voiced more traditionally.

Zoom H6 in a very well looked after condition. I've owned since new and was set up permanently in my bands rehearsal space, it then went straight back into the case, so very little usage. Records onto the SD card or directly into a DAW. Was really useful to take feeds from the PA and rooms mics to document our rehearsals. Includes: H6 Recorder X/Y Mic Adaptor + cover M/S Mic Adaptor + cover USB Cable Wind Breaker 2GB Micro SD Card + Adaptor Plastic hard case 4 x new AA Batteries (fitted) Collection from Mirfield West Yorkshire or I can ship at the buyers expense.
