  1. I experienced this at a rehearsal place years back - it was a dodgy mixer board. I went wireless after that. I figured that I will never be able to trust anywhere, so removing myself from the circuit was the only thing to do. Also, my wife insisted on it.
  2. I preordered the deluxe box version on Amazon seconds after starting the thread. It will take weeks. And I shall need to buy a record player!
  3. Soundmagic E10 for me. They replaced a pair of Sennheiser they broke after a year. I found the E10s so comfortable that I bought a Bluetooth version for times when I need to be wireless.
  4. Sadly, the version of Dyers Eve that has been put on YouTube sounds very much like the one on the album, so we can expect that it will not suddenly be a basstastic LP. Still, I feel giddy like a little boy. This was the album that got me hooked on Metallica, and it was Metallica that made me pick up the guitar and bass. 5. Nice! Whoever grabs these will be well chuffed. I've had the compressor, chorus and preamp on my board for a good while and have no plans to replace them. I think these pedals are, by and large, top of the line of within-reach-of-oridnary-folk-rather-than-gear-obsessives affordability.
  6. A Blue Berry Bass OD, MXR chorus and a compressor. Nothing too fly, but I am interested in investigating a filter again. I’m also keeping an eye on the Swollen Pickle and the Pork & Pickle. Any ideas how they react to active basses?
  7. Oooh...that sound at 1:03 - 1:19 sounds grand as do a few others. Does it play well with other pedals?
  8. Sigh. I cannot seem to find a dirt sound that I like. Current chain: Passive PJ or Active J > Line6 Relay > MXR Bass Compressor > Blueberry Bass OD > Tuner > Distortion > MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe > MXR M81 Bass Preamp > Amp (GK 500MB Fusion) or FOH Other than the tuner, I normally have everything on except the distortion. It gives an excellent sound with which I am ecstatically happy. But for a couple of tracks, I need to get my level of dirt up - think "Ace of Spades" or The Hives' "Hate To Say I Told You So". So far, I have tried a Darkglass Vintage Microtubes Deluxe, a Darkglass BK3 clone, an MXR M85 Bass Distortion and a Rat clone. The best out of all those four was the Rat clone, but it had no bottom end at all. I am after something which will retain a little clarity whilst simultaneously give a heap of dirt. A load of bass so that it hits you in the guts. I bought the MXR M85 thinking it was, essentially, a Rat with a blend, but I cannot get it to make a sound I like. It is either too muddy or too tame. Any suggestions? Or is it time to look at a line selector and a Rat? Truth be told, I have been considering a line selector to help balance the output of dirty v clean and/or active v passive.
  9. I have. It takes to them well, adding a bit of “activeness” to the sound. This is based on my experience of drives (all effects, actually) before the preamp. I have had the M81 for a year, perhaps a bit longer. Edit: as in, I have not tried anything after the preamp. I use it for a bit of extra oomph and got it for the DI. By having it last in the chain, I control the sound going to FOH.
  10. Very nice indeed - and thanks for the tip! I am not in a position to buy (or collect) at the moment. Good luck with the sale!
  11. Dear Keith, I hope you are well. I’m fine. Can I please have your guitar? Yours sincerely, JimBobTTD
  12. Akai Unibass will do just this. They are not easy to find any more. Perhaps someone will chime in with a good replacement. At times, I regret selling mine. I used it in a three-piece for when the guitarist started soloing.
  13. Definitely of interest. Thanks again!
  14. Gracias! I have a midi controller at home, but it would be nice to replace it with a keyboard that doubles as a midi controller, if you know what I mean.
  15. Can you play piano/other with the Impulse without connecting it to anything? Or is it only a MIDI controller?
  16. This is a dream guitar, not really something that will be in my near future. One day!
  17. Ah, you are being rational about a rather irrational lust, leftybassman. The ebony, the blocks, the headstock appearance do it for me.
  18. Not the 335...the 355. It’s the guitar the B.B. King Lucille is based upon, but with F holes and without the tone thing. I am sure there are cheaper versions out there. But this is a lust object!
  19. In black? I’m already very jealous!
  20. I have been in love with this guitar for years. Does anyone here have one? If so, please tell me that it is bad and that I do not actually want it. I think I am at least five years away from being in a position to consider one seriously. They are a long way from cheap. I would be looking at one with the ebony fingerboard, so pre-2011 (I think). They come in at about £4,000...if you can find one. I first saw one when I saw Slash, then in Velvet Revolver, play Last Fight on American TV. It was a jaw-on-the-floor moment and my obsession began! He later played a red one, but, while it is lovely, it is not the same as the black one.
  21. Thank you, Christine. This was an interesting read.
