doctor_of_the_bass replied to Ou7shined's topic in General Discussion
Mostly Squire's bass sound there - he's doing a good job at playing along - listen to the original track and you will see what I mean.... -
No comment! I know what might take place and it will not please my bank manager/accountant! Will have to use some major restraint...!

doctor_of_the_bass replied to NJE's topic in General Discussion
You're not stalking me are you!??!... Would love one mate but I think that they will be a bit out of my league in terms of dosh! There's another bass I like the look of! Won't mention which one as someone will gazump me!!! Hehe! -
Aww! Thats a shame, was looking forward to popping round for a nice cup of tea and some custard creams! I'm actually doing a days worth of bass tuition for a chap in Great Totham - might have to nip and see Mr Green before I start work!
Hi Nick, my one is number 64..I'm afraid I don't have a digital camera so I can't post a pic. My one is also walnut..but not quite as pretty as yours. It is my favourite bass and is pure quality ..as I'm sure you know. The only thing I find very weird ,is that mediocre precisons and jazzes from the 70's(not exactly a glorious decade for fender) now fetch more money than my Alembic when it was new,and in terms of build quality and "hi-fi ness there is absolutely no comparison...Go Figure!!
Blimey! Thanks for the comments! Mine is indeed a lovely piece, I'm very lucky to own it - and yes, you are dead right about the 70 Fender prices - some silly figures out there!!!

..that may be the case, but Kol is a *Klingon - never pick a fight with him!!! He's a great guy and as noted, will play for donuts! * well, he used to be!! -
Yup! Come and say hello! Am in the pit at the front of the stage.

Hello to a fellow Anniversary owner! Here's mine - number 61 ! Which number have you got and post some pics if you can! Cheers! Nick (the GAS man!)
-
He is!!! Meant to add, - young Chris from Angryman is also local - he needs to take a spare bass to gigs - if he's reading this!!! Bless him - superb set at the beer fest but his A string went down... great turnaround tho! Karl - not sure about Colin's gig yet - think I'm gigging that nite. Rex is an awesome bass player - really very good - one of my unofficial `bass teachers' when I started out. Am looking at perhaps organising something bass bash-wise for early '09 - got a very busy autumn coming up at the Key Theatre etc.

Prose! Just for info purposes: http://www.freewebs.com/ebasses I'm not really involved any more (and never actually took any money out of the business when we first took off - everything was ploughed back in!) as such but have helped Ian design the new basses/pickups/circuitry etc! He's now my bass tech - anything I need doing, he is the man! His new basses are incredible - he's building me one at some point! Nick

...its the bass that I just seem to use for all jobs - from the theatre through to rock gigs in pubs, the function band, jazzers and folk stuff - it covers any situation and nails the sound - the neck is perfect and its overall light weight means comfort on long shows etc. I love my Status basses too, but at the moment, I seem to be favouring the Arpege!
Its NEARLY as cool as mine ;0)
..think we will have to agree to disagree! I was quite impressed by your bass at the Bash...! Hehehe!
-
Er! Nope! Tis the chosen one! She's currently working very hard down in the pit here: http://www.peterboroughkeytheatre.co.uk ...providing solid and yet lush bassness to the production of `Dream Nights' - the MD won't let me use anything else!
-
..actually sir, tis the logoage on said pickups that caught mine eyne! (sorry - doing bass for an adaptation of a Midsummer Night's Dream in theatre this week!)

..the Blue Bass! with Baldy!!!!
-
Allo! The Series I was the original `big' bodied bass - as David as posted, it was just over 15in wide. The Series II models were similar in body length but narrower - the top cutaway being much smaller than the Series I model, and the front pickup was moved further away from the neck in order to accomodate the `funk groove' - cut out to enable easier pulling of the strings! The Series III was actually a scaled-down Series I but again, the pickup placement was such that there was a gap between the end of the neck and the front p/up- I do have a pic somewhere of my old MK bass, a Series II and a III together - may have to email it to one of you guys for uploadage! Cheers! N (am on a theatre show all week, hence lack of postages!)

I'm not a religious person as this particular `reality' is just a series of waveforms decoded by our DNA/RNA strands but ask, and thee shall receive! I'd love some of my old JayDees back, espec. #00002
