New, boxed, completely unused, simply never needed it.

2.
Another luthier I spoke seemed to be very reasonable told me you didn't always need to take the top off you can glue the bass but there is always a chance the cracks will reopen, you know considering the bass cost around £25 its a risk I might take, this guys sounded spot on but was really busy and you know I fancy a wee shot on the bass you know how it is :)
Looks like these have come from a school music department.
The top has to come off that 1/2 size to repair the crack. The wood has shrunk too much to re-glue. It needs a fillet, not filling!
You are now the "Curator" of two old basses. Don't spoil this instrument by botching it, for the sake of a few quid.

3. Hi Phil,
sorry but Warwicks have never appealed to me.

cheers
Keith
Keith,

Thanks for the reply. Sounds perfect (and I'm sure it does) - would a straight swap for a Warwick 4 string $$ be of any interest to you?

Regards,

Phil
4.
Hi - is the cab still available, and how much would you accept for it? And what's the impedance?
Regards,
Phil
Hi Phil,
the cab is 4ohm
both are still available although someone is interested in the amp only.

Pricewise £325
could meet half way or I'm driving to cornwall from yorkshire maybe thursday this week if your anywhere inbetween!

cheers
Keith

5. Nice lot! great price.
Could be expensive to repair though!

To repair a crack in the top, the top has to come off!

I have a mid 19th cent German flatback that had cracks repaired some years ago at a cost of over £800 according to its previous owner.

This book http://www.henrystrobel.com/booklist.htm#bass is worth a read, but it costs nearly as much as your bargain trio!

That lower bout crack needs a proffessional repair, don't bodge it!

Please try and preserve these old instruments.

cheers
Keith

6.
Did Wal ever make a 6 string, I'm sure I saw one once in a shop called the Embassy in Mansfield.
Pete introduced the Wal 6 in 1994

I met him at one of the trade fairs in London and he showed me a photo of a prototype 6string with the new mach 111 body (which was designed for the six, & later built as a five for Laurence Cottle)

I asked him to make me one, which he did. I took delivery in August 94 and used it as my main bass for about 5 years.

7. With one of these you can get any sound that you want! (even a wal sound!) :)

Thes are great cabs, I built & used a pair of these with EV 15's until recently.
3/4" chipboard is fine if you want to keep the cost down.

It's not really for "singing" it's really for "ear training". No, it doesn't make sense to me either
I've got the Korg DTR 200 which has a built in mic and sound generator if you fancy trying it!
