1. Dylan Howe's Unity 4 featuring Tony Kofi (alto) Mike Outram (guitar) & Ross Stanley (Hammond) are on at Coopers on Thursday 15th May.

Blockheads drummer Dylan, son of Yes guitarist Steve Howe, is touring with his own band and Coopers is the chosen venue for the Leeds/Bradford area.
    Tickets are £10 / £6 (club members/students/M.U.)

Any basschatters not in the M.U. wishing to come to the gig can get in for £6!
Just see me or me missus (Ruth) on the door and mention Basschat!

  2.
Hi all,

Hoping you can help. There's lots of 'recommend amps' threads on here most of which contain several posts recommending Genz Benz, Aguilar, Eden, Epifani and what have you amps and cabs and at least one post saying 'buy what sounds good to you'.

All this is very fine, but take, for example, someone who lives in the East Midlands. Someone who, for example, is looking for a new rig. Someone who, for example, goes by the username of trent900 on basschat.co.uk.

All the music shops near me seem to stock Ampeg, Trace, and GK. I have two questions: those of you who have all these wacky amps - how did you hear about them? And second - where did you try them?

I would love to have a session on an Epifani UL310 since it sounds ideal for my requirements, but where the hell am I going to find one to have a bash on without spending at least £60 and most of a weekend trogging down to the big smoke that is London?

    Yours in possibly retarded exasperation,

    Jon
If you can get to Harrogate up't A1 sometime you can try my UL310 with an LMK

  3. Jes Platt - vocals, guitar & organ, (sometimes simultaneously), "Roomdarkener" Rod Mason - keys, sax & flute (sometimes simultaneously), Richard Hammond - basses & Chris Sykes - drums.

    What a line up!

  4.
Hi all - recently sold a couple of things on the Forum. All feedback (constructive of course!) on transactions welcome. Might persuade others I am not a crook/scumbag/etc and am a reasonable human being to deal with! Ta Clarky
I bought Clarky's Underwood pickup and it turned up the next day well packaged and in great condition as described.

Anyone thinking of buying from him, or selling to him shouldn't have any problems.

    cheers Clarky

    Keith

  6.
Seems Genz-Benz have a riot on their hands, as the Shuttles are getting feverish reviews and GB are struggling with supplying the equally feverish demand. The one I ordered over a month a go, is not going to be in my hands in time for this Saturday's gig. Carelessly, my spare amp was sold recently to help pay for it!

Anyone local with an amp I can borrow for this Saturday please? It's for my semi acoustic band, so it doesn't have to be very powerful. I will be using my fretless JB with a J-Retro pre-amp, so an Active input choice would be useful. The cab is a Schroeder 1210 4ohm. We are doing it as a freebie for a new pub that's starting out with live music, so hiring is out.

If you can help out but are wondering if you'll see your amp again, I dare say I can leave you with something of equal value as collateral (a nice bass for example). I live in Harrogate and will happily pick up & drop back promptly.

    Ta.

Seen this post too late but if you need anything in the future I'd be happy to help out & I'm in Harrogate.

  7.
Hi, just realised I should have posted this in the Double bass/EUB section. I have a ten year-old MiniBrute (metal grill, 12 inch speaker) in mint condition (never left the house) which cost £480 at the old Bass Centre in Wapping (I still have the receipt). Never use it and its just gathering dust. When I bought it, it was the premier double bass amplifier although obviously things have moved on in the amp world since then.

Anyone know what its worth and does anyone want to buy it off me! I am in London, near Hammersmith. Could offer it as a package with a similarly dust-gathering and never gigged Underwood double bass pick-up (cost >£100) ...

    Cheers Clarky
How much do you want for the pick up?

    cheers
    Keith

  8.
Hi All,

I'm currently selling a Walter Woods Amp up on Ebay...

Obviously, these are wonderful handmade American amps. I estimate mine was made sometime in the '80s.

I'm getting asked a lot of questions which i'm not 100% of the answer for... does anybody either have any detailed info (like an old catalogue or manual) or perhaps know of a good website? google isn't throwing too much up! I've just used the amp over the years and some of the exact specs i don't know.

Any help would be most appreciated...

    Thank you

    JAMES
Have a word with Rhino on here, he's got a Walter Woods and knows some stuff about them.

  10.
I'm in the process of trading two basses (valued at 3-4k each) for one better one. If anyone wanted to have a peek at either of them before they go off to the chap (Peter Tyler) for assessment I will happily post some pics if there are any interested parties.
One is an 1880 swell back, ebony board, lovely dark tone
the other is a turn of the century flat back stuttgart "factory" bass, also ebony board (factory means each part made by different makers and assembled in one workshop) Lighter tone bright and full
Both have been expertly repaired/set-up by the genius luthier Roger Dawson

Hi Jake, I would like to see some pic's please.

    cheers

The one shown is the 4u high version, mine is about 3 1/2" taller.
    http://www.gatorcases.com/productsdetail.a...ID=1&PID=29

It has a removeable velcro cover and I've fitted castors.

I bought it last year to leave at a residency, but have since changed to a mixer/amp and have no further use for it.

    £50 o.n.o.
Local pick up in Harrogate or could deliver in Yorkshire area.

  12. I've had the opportunity to play this bass on a couple of occasions & I'm very tempted, but as I own a 5 string fretless I can't justify having another.

It plays like a dream and is as described in great condition.

Jonty is a genuine nice guy and anyone interested in buying this bass should have no worries.
