1.
Right off the bat -- if you love something and are willing to pay the price, it's worth it. Enjoy. Now, let's move on, shall we? One can argue that MIM aren't as good as a Squier VM, therefore it's overpriced, and that may be a viable argument. There are dozens of boutique and custom built basses that cost 10 times as much as a stock Fender but aren't 10 times as good so the cost can't be justified. Maybe. But which company do you think is the most outrageously overpriced? I have to go with Fodera. True, personally I'm not that impressed with the basses. They play well but don't sound all that great and don't look all that great. But that's subjective. And even if I loved them, I'd STILL think the price was nuts. THIS http://www.fodera.co...%20Feb.2013.pdf is not only obscene, it's insulting in my opinion. And those numbers are American dollars, so double that. (And add shipping costs from the U.S. ) And Fodera's don't even come finished! It's bare wood, so it looks worn just a few months after purchase. I feel this is a product that depends mostly on "snob appeal." The funny thing is, besides a few famous endorsees (who I assume get basses for free) it seems that the people buying these instruments are more hobbyists looking for that "dream instrument" than pros who need a solid workhorse. No offense is intended toward Forera owners. But if there's anyone out there more bonkers in regard to cost, let's hear it!
Janek Gwizdala saved up for both of foderas and gets a small artist discount (he didn't get one on his first one) so he's spend $20k on fodera instruments. He says that he values them like he would a car
 2.
Take a suitable box with the electric bass. When the electric is finished with, pack it and courier it home. Then bring the DB back on the train. If you use Collect plus you'll only just have to drop the bass at a news agency or petrol station where ever the local point is.
This may be the best idea yet, I may take my hard case and pack it nicely
 3. I already own the electric bass, and I am taking it down for a lesson. The double will be a new acquisition while I'm down there
 4.
Assuming you have a driving licence; would it not be easier, and more cost effective, to do a one way car/van hire?
I am only 20 years old, and despite my two and a half years driving experience, I believe that this is not an option for me
 5. Hey guys, I'm hoping for some good helpful experience here! Anyway, it may come up in the next month that I'll have to get a train from London to Hull with not only a Double Bass, but an electric too! Has anyone been crazy enough to attempt this? I've read the other thread on DBs on trains, but it doesn't cover this senario. If needs be, I'll pick the DB up a couple of weeks later on its own. Thanks, Alec
 6. If it's ever near Hull, contact me!

 8.
Well I'll be damned. I won :)
That's incredible news, congrats! 9 months on and I'm still to buy a copy. I guess it's a worthy investment of my next pay check though!
 9.
Drop to £900
I'm guessing no trades then?
 10.
I believe quite a few on here use the Planet Waves clip-on tuners... which seem popular. http://www.planetwaves.com/PWVideo.Page?ActiveID=3985&MediaId=9297&sid=4a10d3fe-4e50-4bec-8458-679be55edd66 http://www.amazon.co...k/dp/B005FKF1PY Just clip and tune. Or did you specifically mean tuners that fix to the body of the bass?
The NS micro is an amazing piece of kit!
 11. http://youtu.be/z04XZXCLDtU I tried to find a link without the weird half-naked video, this is the best I could. Insanely groovy, so deep...
 12.
Hi everyone, Yeah it's for college entrance, I have decided on the two pieces (finally) thanks for all your suggestions.
Depending on the college (I've done quite a few of these auditions and so have my friends) I would pick more obscure standards than suggested below. It's very refreshing for a judge to hear something obscure instead of the same group of 20 standards that everyone plays. Just my 2 cents
 13.
I agree, way over-priced. It's getting close to a late 70's P price and that's, generally, a much nicer instrument. Lazy listing for Central London shop as well. There's stacks of information around about Musicmaster basses. Feels like they are trying to use a lack of info as a rarity factor sales pitch.
What I thought as I managed to find quite a bitof information over google this morning. I expected better, but then you may have a case with the rarity factor. What are the better short scale fenders?
 14.
It's about £250 too much I think. I don't think I've ever seen one that expensive! Most seem to go for around £400-£600 depending on condition and case/candy. Maybe some especially good examples could be worth £700-£750 but that's at the real high end. It'd have to be in perfect condition, unplayed, original case and candy AND a decent player. Most Musicmasters I've played have been pretty bad instruments. Great tone, but horrid to play and cheap feeling. I've owned two and played maybe another half dozen and there's only one of them that I wish I owned! Sorry mate, but I think you could do better if you held on for a while! Alex
That's a shame! I thought it seemed a bit expensive, but all I know about is early 60s precisions. I'd like to own an old fender short scale some day but not for a bigloss like that. Thanks anyway, Alec
 15. I'm in London tomorrow, may check this out, but is it worth the asking price? Fender fans assemble! http://www.macaris.co.uk/guitars/Bass/fender_bass/p/78_music_master.aspx
 16.
Very nice! I'll need to sell this first though, unless you're interested in a part exchange?
Unfortunately not, all GAS sorted with me (for now at least!) PM me with if you get anyway with this and I'm sure that we can sort something out!
 17.
I'm looking for a combo for rehearsals / small gigs, preferrably valve, and something nice and simple (I can't get on with those fancy Line 6 modelling thingies!). Otherwise, I'm pretty open minded...
I have one for sale here... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/216003-hughes-and-kettner-all-valve-combo-l175/page__pid__2194602#entry2194602
 18. I only own two basses (at the moment!) so it isn't as hard for me. For pure enjoyability of playin it and the tone I get from it, my Bitsa P with Chromes on it and a Wizard Trad pickup. If I had to do all sorts of gigs on it, I guess it would be safer to side with my Lākland JO5 as I get done work that occasionally needs the lower and higher notes. I prefer the P though, I love it!
 19.
This one:
That's a Fender Custom Shop right BRX?
 20. I know that Janek Gwizdala rates them highly and plays one on most of Bob Reynolds new album
