  1. i think its appropriate that i share my thanks on the forum............don't want you talking about me.
  2. Now that would be the ultimate Rock pose. But you still replied showing you have a stronger opinion on one handed playing than you lead us to believe. Perhaps you are a secret one handed bass player but too ashamed to come clean on the forum. Take some comfort knowing that its not a death sentence, its an illness that can be cured by proper training, coaching and understanding of why people do this. Always remember you are never alone on BC. Humourous and light-hearted threads or posts are what makes life worth living. Enjoy them for what they are. Dave
  3. Trying to lighten the mood a bit now but does the same count for people taking their plucking hand away from the bass for any reason ? Dave
  4. That's exactly what i do for the bass parts i need to learn. Dave
  5. I'm not far from you Kevin. I'll cancel mine and you can give me the 2nd book for my birthday. I wouldn't be offended in any way whatsoever.
  6. Hold off a few days and it'll be back down again. Seems to be changing every other day.
  7. Perfect example. As you can see nothing naff about this.
  8. Yep that's very acceptable but not just standing there with your fretting hand by your side expecting people to be impressed by it. Rock poses are always good but not looking like a proper ........well you know
  9. I'm with you on this one Paul and i know exactly what you mean with the smug face as if to say "hey look at me i can play bass with one hand". Dave
  10. Good point Paul but a few good quality wigs and some Sabbath gear and they will be sorted. Some of the agencies take on soundalike tributes too so it could be worthwhile thinking about the image side of it. I know some tribute bands where its just one or even two of them that look a little like the originals whereas others in the band have no similarity at all. Not sure where you draw the line on tribute acts Dave
  11. A band this good should be making money. If not then consider some of the tribute agencies. Dave
  12. Think if its a "drop the hand from the neck and pose for the camera" kind of stance then i'm with you and agree it just looks naff. However if its to adjust your amp or scratch yourself (but not your bum or intimate areas.....or anyone else's for that matter) then its probably acceptable. I try not to make it obvious i'm doing very little and would rather keep both hands on bass unless its a crowd involvement section to assist in the clapping of hands. Dave
  13. Liking that a lot. Bass tone is perfect......love it. Have a mate in an Ozzy band but your singer has a way better voice than Ozzy ever had. Great recording. Nice one and wish you every success with it. Dave
  14. Friends being people i socialise with and colleagues being simply guys in the band more like a workmate. Dislike is people i generally disagree with in the band or who don't pull their weight in the band. 5 : 0 : 4 : 0 I don't socialise with the band because we all live in different parts of the country and only meet up for rehearsals or gigs or the occasional band discussion night. We are approx 50 miles apart and living in countryside public transport isn't great after 9pm ish. We would probably socialise a bit if we lived nearer each other tho and that would change it to 5:4:0:0 Dave
  15. Thanks for that. Its been one of those things i kept meaning to look up. I use my GK MB200 head as a pre-amp direct to FOH when using with my JamMan pedal loaded with sampled sounds. I did check the manual that this was ok. Dave
  16. I'm no exxpert but i was always told with solid state or class D it was ok to do that with master volume completely OFF. You can't do it with a valve power stage but i have no idea why that would be different. Best to wait until one of the BC experts comes along with definitive answer. Dave
  17. Think it was a Chicken.....
  18. I never even noticed that In my defence i have been watching that many clips of Crazy Horses i just started to lose interest in anything else other than the start with the keys. In the first clip i watched from one of their Osmond shows the drummer sings the chorus while playing of course. I think the clip you're talking about the drummer takes over on bass as the bass player is doing the lead vocals and of course none of them will be playing anyway as they had a full support group directly behind them.
  19. Not sure what you mean ?
  20. Wee bit expensive for one sample but oddly enough i did think of that as one of mates used to have one.
  21. My thoughts exactly and its the part everyone recognises in that song.
  22. I've downloaded a synth sample of it which isn't too bad and put that on my pedal. We'll see how it sounds at next rehearsal. I personally think its an important part more so at the beginning but its not just down to me. Think once they hear it (or something) they might change their minds. Dave
  23. I'm with you on that Paul especially the start but i'm out-voted. Dave
  24. After all the searching and various replies and suggestions the singer and guitarist don't think its really needed. Thanks for all the help and advice guys and apologies for wasting anyone's time. Singers and guitarists HUH !!!!
  25. Think i need to watch this. I've never been a big fan of Metallica apart from liking the occassional song but i really enjoy these band documentaries. Bit like watching a soap opera.
