  1. A lot of drummers used headphones back then when playing to click tracks incl Neil Peart so its not that uncommon altho these days its probably IEM that are used most. Dave
  2. Came across this but sorry about the VID clip itself.
  3. Sorry to read about this Bill. I'm afraid i can't helpwith the headphones question but hope some others will be able to offer a way for you to continue with a lifelong passion. Wish you all the very best and i'll be following to see how you get on. Dave
  4. I usually get :- we can get you to play at our bike rally free of charge cause you'll be there anyway (band are not bikers at all so its gonna be a bit boring with just me playing tho) Could you play my birthday party - mates rates. .......... They get upset when i say the band doesn't know you !!! My son / daughter has just bought a bass.......any tips ? ........... Yes take professional lessons to get the basics and then simply practice a lot. To be fair most of my freinds are either bikers or musicians of some kind so the conversation is nearly always one of those topics. Dave
  5. Emergency Exit - a female fronted punk covers band at our Harley Rally in Aviemore this year. I'm not generally a punk music fan but these guys were so good with so much energy in the songs. Its amazing how many punk songs i remembered liking back in late 70's / 80's And i was stone cold sober too so no excuses. Dave
  6. I met him at one of the Bass bashes when he was sitting with Chris from Overwater and he was very approachable. I have no issues with the guy at all. He's helpful when asked and i've picked up a few helpful tips from his free VID clips and he knows his stuff inside out. Dave
  7. Mines has the active circuit (Precision deluxe model MIM) so is seperating the pick ups an option with an active circuit so that i can get that P sound Dave
  8. Its certainly putting me in the mood for another P bass as i find the Fender P/J just doesn't do a proper P bass sound no matter what i do with the EQ, pan settings or Passive setting. Nothing sounds quite like a P bass and i'm a Jazz man myself so i don't know what's going on there. Dave
  9. Tuner, either Korg rackmount or TC Polytune.
  10. My Warwick Thumb NT is the same. Need to tune it every day i play it. Its hung on a wall hanger in bas cave with a reasonably stable house temperature whereas my Jazz bass or my Overwaters remain in tune most days. Dave
  11. Can i live there
  12. Are you sure Ped. ??? I reckon its the main reason i've never been a hugely successful session bassist.
  13. Low to High and for some odd reason the last thing i do is double check at 12th fret. Dave
  14. I'd never heard The Grateful Dead until you joined a tribute and posted a track of theirs while back. Surprised me how good they were. I knew off them but hadn't actually listened to them for some strange reason. I'll blame you Dave.
  15. I bought one few months ago and it is by far the best sounding amp i have ever played thru and i've had everything from Marshall, Ampeg, Genz, Mark Bass, GK, Trace, Matamp, Roland, EBS, Aguilar, Orange and probably a few i've missed and this amp just knocks them clean out the water. The depth of tone, warmth and flexibility is excellent. The sound simply surrounds you rather than just hearing it. I'm amazed no-one local has bitten your hand off for this amp. If i had been closer i would have bought this one as well. Dave
  16. Was never a big Zep fan back in the day but got to like them as i got older. There are some bands i didn't buy specific albums but went for their greatest hits the Stones being a prime example. Have most of what i regard as classic albums or at least something from a classic band. Zep, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Rush, Sabbath, Dio, Maiden, Genesis, Floyd, Simon & Garfunkel, Allman Bros, Doobies, the list goes on and on but the topic is a bit subjective with regards what you believe is a classic band or album. Dave
  17. Sound of Contact altho its really just one album really impressed me with Dimensionaut.
  18. I'm same not a metal fan to be honest but i generally like a band documentary. I know a few Metallica songs right enough and enjoyed playing them in a Monsters of Rock covers band but wouldn't buy any albums. I could see the Metallica one being interesting as they have quite a volatile singer. Dave
  19. Oddly enough i remember thinking he wasn't a bad drummer back then either. He seemed to put a lot into his drumming. I could get along with Luke but think i might struggle with Matt's ego. I just couldn't take him seriously because of his attitude. Dave
  20. The maple necked 77 just sounded so much better to me. More zing but still having that P depth. Dave
  21. Last band that really got me was from Jools Holland show few yrs back. Fantastic album.
  22. I'm the same as above. I'd heard that before and the Gibson quite surprised me. I love my Jazz basses and i have a gorgeous 1989 Thumb NT but the P and Tbird were my favoured tones Dave
  23. And don't forget the Sneakiness.
  24. Had a mate who's a singer went on one of these shows and he said they dictated what he sang and almost every aspect of his show. He was asked to come back again in 2018 for an audition and told them no. He said he was treated badly by the team and it was all false so i have no respect for any of these shows.
