My attitude is that you're either committed to being in a band or you aren't. If not then walk away and let the band replace you and get on with it. I'm quite lucky that in both bands we all have to drive to get to gigs so there's no drink involved. Dave

Awe Jings something else to be wrist slapped for Seriously tho i wasn't aware of that thread. ? Dave
-
I can appreciate that sometimes things go well off topic and that does annoy me at times so i just need to be more aware and careful of what i post. To be fair @mcdaddy was only suggesting that the whisky comments could be of value on the whisky thread so all good here. Dave
-
Sometimes a slight drift off-topic can be fun, provided it doesn't go on too long but appreciate its not the rules and will no longer post comments that detract from the thread. My apologies. Dave
-
Was only slightly off-topic, even less than the footwear comments. Dave

I like that and definitely an unusual bass style too. 2 bassists in a band is quite unusual too. Dave

Port Charlotte PC7 Apologies @Leonard Smalls has already answered your question but here's the bottle anyways.

Amazes me when we play a ticketed sold out gig and we still get requests for totally unrelated to Glam songs. We even had one young lady ask for anything by Beyonce. ??? At a Glam Rock Tribute show .............. really. Did you read the posters or adverts on FB for the venue before buying a ticket at £15. DUH !!!!!!!! Dave

post a better pic to let me see it as the lighting doesn't really show it off. Dave

Great wee afternoon gig at Fisons Club in Boness for BLOCKBUSTARZ Glam covers yesterday. Sold Out 1-6pm event that we've played before. The organiser called it a Xmas gig so 2x1hr sets with the obligatory Xmas songs thrown in. Even with it being sold out there were a shortage of tables and chairs and people were still coming in looking for seats all thru the first set. Mostly women audience too and they were all up for a great party afternoon. Dancing from 1st song. Oddly enough the floor cleared for our first Xmas song Let It Snow by The Sweet which usually does a good job of floor filling ? Lots of people singing along and taking pics and vids to the song so we are a bit confused with that one. Other Xmas songs filled the floor. Gear for the afternoon was Sandberg VM4 into Shure wireless then a Keeley Bassist compressor only just on with very little compression to keep a nice even level. Mesa TT800 Boogie channel into Mesa SW210/115 cabs. Footwear pic below :- This was our first set. Busy wee dance floor.

I'll probably just stick with the Godin on P setting as its a reasonably good bass and altho not THE best neck i have its pretty comfy. Dave

They're pretty impressive. Not seen them before. Dave

Last nights gig with punk covers band Emergency Exit in The Cave went pretty well. Few mistakes as we have been winding the band down with this possibly being the last gig altho there was some discussion amongst the longer serving members last night about possibly continuing provided there are some new songs added to the set list and some other/more gigs added. Who knows where it will end up. I'm the new guy and being the bassist just go wherever the flow takes me. Decent wee crowd, very appreciative with several calls for encores at the end. (Please note the audience are not aware the band might be folding.) Anyhow it was a good night. First set i decided to dust off my Geddy Jazz which was great to play but i forgot the Markbass strings i fitted a few yrs back always seemed to get lost in the mix no matter what bass i had them on. 2nd set i went back to the Godin PJ mostly just using it in P position and it was a lot deeper but just lacked that mid boost to cut thru altho my wife did say it was deeper but she could hear the notes quite clearly and much preferred that tone. Ideally a P bass with a narrow neck would suit me better but the Godin does sound pretty close. It does have quite a nice neck on it too. Wondering if getting a pan pot added might work better with the 4 way switch for parallel and serios positions if that is even possible. Usual Mesa TT800 in Boogie channel into Mesa SW210/115 cabs. Absolutely. That was one i made a point of learning at home just for the sake of it and it took me a while to get the finger stamina up to scratch to keep it going all the way thru. Brilliant song/ I'd love to hear a gig band play that. Dave

Yep done a few Blue Angels gigs with our punk band and apart from the guy that booked us and possibly a few others you're just background music. Did have one night where a lot of wives and girlfriends were there possibly Burn's Night Jan 25th and they were all up dancing most of the night but that was a one off. Have to say its the only gig i've ever done where i don't need to carry my gear. They unload our gear at the start and then load it back at the end of the night. Got underpaid the first time i played there but not as many turned up as they were expecting but fair play they paid us without issue after that and even allowed us to get some Blue Angel T shirts. At the end of the night several guys said we were a great band and thoroughly enjoyed it ??? Dave
