  1. Combining my Beatles outfit with my Country & Western outfits. Just a trend setter back in the day. Wonder what went wrong 😁
  2. I inherited all my Mothers older singles including Frank Ifield and Freddie too. 👍
  3. That'll be the one i had back in 63/64. I even had the EP All My Loving for my birthday and still have it. I dont have the wig or guitar tho. Dave
  4. I used to be in a Beatles tribute too. Had the wig but the outfit and guitar needed some work. It was actually a Beatles guitar. 😂😎
  5. Just watched that and altho not look-a-likes the band looks good on stage to me. Enjoyed that and if up my way i'll make an effort to come see you. Dave
  6. Any band that does Magnum material well is good enough for me to go to a gig. Not a huge fan of their modern material but loved the older albums. Is there anyone in Magnum that is particularly noticeable ? I met them once when i was helping them load into our local gig and all pretty normal looking. A bit aloof to be honest except for Mark Stanway on keys who was very chatty with us. It kinda put me off the band after that. That was early to mid 80's. I'd still go see a tribute to them. Dave
  7. And what about the bass ? ..... 😂
  8. Maybe it was the genuine article just looking for something a little easier than full on tours. 😂
  9. Seriously great fun. Took a bit of practice walking on platform boots again. It's like having a 70's Glam Rock party night every time you play. Dave
  10. If its good enough for Nick Beggs .............
  11. I used to be like you Andy but i took the plunge and went for it. Best fun you'll ever have in a band.
  12. I believe your current band is a tribute to rock Anthems. There's no specific look-a-likes in the band but the music is perfect and it looks like a good show to watch based on the youtube clips i've seen. Dave
  13. Saw Cetera a few times in Dressed to Kill and it was like watching the real thing. Cetera being quite tall add the authentic Simmons boots and standing next to him you have quite a scary character. My wife had pics taken with the band but Cetera was the star attraction for me.
  14. I saw a Genesis / Phil Collins tribute show at a bike rally in St Tropez few yrs back and they had a Phil look-a-like and a Peter Gabriel look-a-like. Both sounded very much like the originals. Rest of the band looked normal but the show was excellent. Gabriel look-a-like did come out with some of the costumes too. He didnt have the shaved front of his hair tho 😀 Dave
  15. That is gorgeous. Like the neck on that. Is it a roasted maple ? Dave
  16. Chin-strokers. 😀 Never heard that before. I like it and i'd probably be one. 😂 Dave
  17. I'm in a 70's Glam Rock covers band and altho we dont try to be anyone or band in particular we do wear the wigs and the jackets are all authentic made by the very same guy that made outfits for Glitter Band, some Bowie outfits and some Sweet kit but he is known mainly for the Glitter Band outfits. We know him thru our drummer who played with Glitter Band in 90's era We are very focused on sounding like the original bands but the outfits are just part of the show and creates an element of fun as you can see in my avatar. When it comes to tribute bands i like the music to spot on. If a band can look like the originals i think it brings another element to the show. They dont need to be spitting image accurate but similar for me. But the music has to be good first. Dave
  18. Good to be back again. I was completely lost yesterday. Some nice wee touches added. I wasn't aware we had a "like" button on the old system. ? Thanks for all the hard work done by the team. You are very much appreciated. Dave
  19. ooohhh that's nice. Did you change the neck or did you buy it that way. Just curious why the neck was changed. Dave
  20. In recent years i limit to circa £1k for gigging basses. My Warwick ive had since 89 and Overwater was for my 50th 11yrs ago. Those 2 never leave the house these days. Warwick was my only bass back in 89 and gigged a few times until work got in the way. I started playing again circa 2009 and never been busier. Dave
  21. 110% agree that is quite stunning.
  22. Thanks for that @drTStingray lot of good info to think about. Might head into Glasgow Guitar Guitar for a wee test run on some of theirs. Dave
  23. Not heard of that version. Cheers for that. Its good that there seems to be a few folks that have had the expensive Stingrays but prefer the feel of the cheaper versions with little difference in tone from them. Dave
  24. Yes that sounds like it. So a US EBMM Sterling bass rather than a MM Sterling Ray34 if i picked that up correctly. Dave
  25. I've recently had a wee notion for a Stingray bass but i have no idea what the different models are like. Obviously the £2-£3k versions are top of the range but what about the others like the MM Sterling, Ray34, etc Have a mate that had a MM Sterling bass and he said it had a Jazz like neck and great bass to play. Is that the same as the Sterling Stingray bass or completely different version. Also i've noticed that the 3 way switch is missing on them now. I look on MM site and they have a Sterling bass I check on bass shops and it s says Sterling Ray34 under the Musicman heading so its all a bit confusing. Can anyone offer some clarification. I do prefer a narrow slim neck like my Sandberg or Jazz basses Mates Sterling was circa £900 maybe 4 yrs ago. Dave
