1.
I'd say go for it. But then I didn't realise that people still get offended by it. I didn't really realise people still cared that much about the queen, to be quite honest. I should probably watch the news more. ._.
I have always had a very simple rule in life, never manufacture a situation that's likely to turn around and bite you in the arse. I'm 48 years old and have never punched anyone or been punched - I'm kinda proud of that.
 2.
Thanks guys, thats really helpful - although it hasn't produced the response that I can go to my better half to say "I definitely need to increase the size of my rig to do this properly - see what the guys on basschat said!" .
Well I disagree with everything that has been said here. You need a rig at least twice the size as you currently have, maybe even as much as three times the size. Obviously, this will mean that you will need to increase your stamina and it has been medically proven that a combination of being fed favourite food and sexual favours on demand are the best way of doing this. 3. Reckon you'll be treading on dangerous ground there I think it'd be like getting hired to play at Gordon Ramseys birthday party and then sticking 'Gordon Is A Moron' into the set list. He might find it funny, but the chances are that he wouldn't...
 4.
Ampeg SVT 7 Pro. Only had it a few months. But having thought about it, I did raise the pickup height on my new Precision, and was digging in on the Jazz having dropped the tuning. So I think I'm to blame...
Yep, that'd certainly be a good contender. As I said earlier though, the 'clip' indicator generally comes on as the amp removes that peak. Obviously, it makes sense to try and avoid it if you can but it won't do any damage if it cuts in occasionaly.
 5.
FNARRRR - OOOWWPPHHH GWOP... <snigger>
[sigh] Can someone please reboot 51m0n...
 6.
Where's that 'like' button when you need it . . . . ?
You can do it via BACS...
 7.
[whisper] I don't want a hollow body so I wont be bidding either [/whisper]
[whisper] I don't want one either but I love whispering... [/whisper]
 8.
All the setting were exactly the same as usual. Nothing knocked or altered. The clip light was coming on for pretty much every note played - with the gain past 10 o'clock. But when I pushed it to 1 o'clock the clipping led was no more active than at the lower setting. Weird.
Well assuming you weren't getting carried away like 51m0n obviously does ( ) then the amp is starting to look like the prime suspect - what is it?
 9. The room being smaller won't make the clip light come on and the ambient noise within the room won't cause it either. The most likely causes are going to be knocking the pre control to a higher than usual setting (if you have one of course!), using the 'hi' input socket instead of the 'lo' one (again, assuming you have those options) or perhaps an amp defect. The clip light coming on isn't necessarily a 'bad thing', all they generally do is tell you that the limiting circuitry has kicked in to remove a peak that could potentially have caused damage.
 10.
I'm sorry but that quote just has to go in my sig.
Fame and fortune at last!
 11. I have a very simplistic approach to it. The drummer is there to keep time, the band is there to play the tune. My job is to keep the band glued to the drummer - If there was such a thing as a UN Timekeeping Force then that'd be me.
 12.

I moved away from Luton many years ago but I don't actually remember people speaking like that. However, I have been described as a cockney by a brummie who was on the recieving end of a rare diatribe...
 13.
Nah, Luton van, not Luton, Luton. Unless he's gone mobile, in which case it could have been.
Ah I was thinking place names not vehicles...
 14. I do four or five of these most summers. The ones with full PA support are the most prevalent but, on the couple that are done without it, all I do is crank the bottom end up a little.
 15.
He turned up in a luton outside the studio, I thought he'd come to rob us!
Is this the thing set up by Doog Moody up in High Town?
 16. You don't need to apologise for something that happened two months ago mate You're talking to a man who can't remember what he had for dinner two nights ago. Just let us know how you get on with the amp - it might help someone else with the same problem in the future.
 17. Dead easy. timo and the new Albion Band. Too broke to go see them on their UK tour this time round, but some of my mates have seen them and reckon they were fab (the actual phrase was 'tighter than a ducks ar*e' ).
 18.
Mrs. W. may even get the plastic nozzle repaired on the vacuum cleaner now!
Result! Lets hope that Mrs W doesn't hit upon the idea of getting you to give it an extensive road test...
 19. I had a few unhelpful run-ins with shop staff when I first moved up to the East Midlands but it's a pretty tight musical community round here and it didn't take me long to become part of it and don't get any problems at all now.
 20.
It's a documented fact that white (or off white) Precisions do sound the best.
I have seen that written somewhere... in crayon because the hospital doesn't allow sharp things...
 21. I don't recognise it but if I had to take a guess, looking at the tailpiece I'd say something like an old Gretsch.
 22.
I was looking at these yesterday. They're Rockbass, that's why they're £350. I've only ever played 1 Rockbass & there was nothing "Rock" about it. The components was the nastiest things I've touched. But Thomann give a 30 day return period so if it's junk, then you aren't stuck with it.
Well Warwick are leading manufacturers of musical marmite.
 23.
Where are these £350?? Looking to upgrade my Takamine.
Here ya go http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_alien_standard_fretless.htm
 24. About 75% of the stuff that I end up playing is 'acoustic' and I went down the acoustic bass route about ten years ago because I felt it was the thing to do. Total waste of time, effort and money. Apart from the 'look', there are no real advantages in using an acoustic bass. It'll get drowned out as soon as it has another instrument to compete with which means you'll need to amplify it. Then you start having to faff about to cancel the inevitable feedback. As soon as you amplify it you may just as well have stayed with an electric bass in the first place! Nowadays I either use an EUB or a bog standard electric bass with the bridge pickup rolled back and nobody gives a damn!
 25. How about a Warwick Alien - not bad for just under £350...
