Yes, I saw your bass on his website and drew his attention to it, I also showed him this one which was also on his website which would have been the sort of relic that I wanted.

This happened to me early 2018, I was after a Fender American Standard P Bass and although they are discontinued, a major online store had one at a discounted price, it was advertised as NEW so I bought it. When it arrived the next day, I opened the case and there was no "case candy" (tags, strap, etc), and although the bass was pristine, I called the shop and said that I suspect that it was an ex- display model and that they should have pointed it out on the website, I also mentioned that the "case candy" is important to some people if I was to sell the bass on. To be fair, the person I spoke to agreed and offered me £50 compensation which was paid into my account immediately. The bass was already £300 below the normal price so I actually got a whopping £350 off altogether. 😉

At the age of 67, I think I'll be well gone before my bass with a poly finish will start to look aged 😉

KORG X50 for sale PRICE DROP!!! £195.00 Posted!!! I purchased this from Digital Village for well over £500 a few year's ago and hardly ever used it, I thought that I might be able to learn how to play keys, but unfortunately I just don't have the talent so have decided to move it on. It is in fantastic, unmarked condition, and I still have the original box, mains lead, and manual. Collection from Bridgnorth, Shropshire would be preferred, and you are welcome to come and try it for yourself. The Korg X50 is a descendent of the Korg Triton and is capable of producing unbelievable sounds, here are a few YouTube links where you can see and hear just what it can do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRO9x6wswl4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP6poZjnKEU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGj9YU6LQjQ Here is a link where you can read more about it: https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/korg-x50-synthesizer-display-stock

Bass players who take their hand off the neck
thebrig replied to PaulWarning's topic in General Discussion
Exactly this with me, arthritis in my hands so it helps to drop my hand and let it rest a bit, and besides, it's usually only for a few seconds. I also suffer from shoulder problems, so again, it helps to ease the pain. Why do some people stop and have a rest when they are walking? there's usually a reason why they do. -
That's right, and to be quite honest, if I had a bass thats finished in nitro then it would wear naturally after plenty of playing anyway
-
His work looks first class but from what I can gather, you have to send your instrument to France so he can relic it, and I guess the paint has to be nitro. I went onto his website and clicked the English version but it still isn't very clear. 🤔

PRECISION BASS BODY (Alder) IN BEAUTIFUL SURF GREEN FOR SALE SOLD!!! I purchased this body brand new from "Guitars Electric" seven months ago because I was intending starting up a surfing type band, but the band never materialised, so this body is surplus to requirements. I did make it into a lovely precision bass but never gigged it. The Fender neck I fitted to it was a very tight fit and had to widen the pocket very slightly, there is a very small chip (circled in pic 3) near the pocket but doesn't notice because the under-coat is the same colour. Also, the holes which were pre-drilled are fractionally out, so if you want to put an existing neck that already has the holes drilled, then you might have to fill the holes in the neck first and then re-drill them. Otherwise, the body is in great condition with hardly a mark on it. Weighs 4lb 9oz (2.2kg) I've added another pic to show what it was like when I first built it, the parts are not fixed in the photo because I had already taken it apart. Please note: THE SALE IS FOR THE BODY ONLY!!!

Squier Body & Neck £25 Posted!!! NOW SOLD!!! Might be good for someone starting out on a project for the first time. I acquired these some time ago but never got round to doing anything with them, it's dated 2003 but not sure what Squier model they are from, but apart from the obvious "relic'ing", they seem sound.

I think the Nate Mendel has a 41.02 nut, it also has a 7.25" fingerboard radius which I find too curved for me 😒
-
No apologies needed sir! 😉 I particularly want a P with a J neck, so I thought a custom build would be a good way to go, and judging by all the reviews on here, Limelight basses are top notch and a joy to play, and if I can get one built and I really like it, then I would sell my American Standard which would go a long way to paying for a custom build.
-
It is for FIVE sets though! 😉

Strange one that, you say that in your opinion, the solo in Comfortably Numb is one of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded, did you not like the song enough to seek out some of their other material? If ever I hear something I like by an artist I'm not familiar with, I have to go on YouTube and look at what else I can find. 🤔
-
Yes, I would want one made for me which is why I tried Limelight first, I also contacted Bravewood but they said that they no longer take on orders/commissions.
-
I don't want to deliberately damage my bass, which is why I said that "I'm not sure I want to try it on my lovely American Standard P" and why I want to get one made. I want a relic to fit in with the tribute band I have just joined.
-
Looks impressive, is it a nitro finish? it's very hard to get a realistic look with modern poly finishes
-
I've done it on a cheapish squire, but not sure I want to try it on my lovely American Standard P 😮
-
I want a heavily relic'ed precision bass in sunburst, I contacted Mark at Limelight, but he says he doesn't do sunburst because they are too time consuming. So can anyone recommend a luthier or company that could do a really good job for me at a reasonable price?

I've googled this but can't find anything, have you got a link please? as I would like to have a look at the spec, Cheers.

Your experiences of playing in a tribute band.
thebrig replied to Grassie's topic in General Discussion
I think the problem is that they ARE "Dr Feelgood" and have a right to continue to call themselves Dr Feelgood, one by one, they replaced members who replaced members, but because they ARE "Dr Feelgood", people go along to see them expecting the Feelgood vibe. In my opinion, Steve Walwyn is a better guitarist than Wilko, but he quite often plays long bluesy solo's like in Mad Man Blues for instance, and as good as his playing is, it just ain't Dr Feelgood! I get your point though, Dammed if they do, Dammed if they don't! 😒 -

I saw the band that call themselves Dr Feelgood after Lee Brilleaux died, Pete Gage fronted the band and was a good frontman, and to be fair, they were pretty good, but I saw them a few year's ago after Robert Kane replaced him, and I must admit, they weren't that great. -

Just started a Dr Feelgood tribute with three other Feelgood nuts, we have our first session together in a couple of weeks, and having all played the music in previous bands and knowing their music well, we are hoping it will all come together quite quickly, we are aiming to get the sound and feel as close as possible but we definitely won't be a look-a-like tribute act. We know Dr Feelgood weren't a massive band and lots of people won't have even heard of them, but having played about a dozen of their songs in a previous "old school" R&B band, I know that their no-nonsense, in-your-face music appeals to many ,and certainly got people up dancing. We are not looking to play anything more than local pubs, clubs, and maybe the odd local festival, so we know we won't make money out of it, but we will be playing the music we all enjoy. 😉 -
