I love everything about a Precision bass, but I don’t like the chunky neck, I prefer the thinner Jazz neck, and others love everything about a Jazz bass, but they don’t like the narrow neck, they prefer the chunkier Precision neck, and many like either bass just the way they are, but why do they not offer each bass with a choice of either neck? I have always played Precisions with a replacement Jazz neck fitted, but I would love to be able to buy a Precision with a Jazz neck fitted straight out of the factory, you only have to read the many posts on here, and on Talkbass, to know how many would love to have the choice. I know there are a few Precision bass variants out there that have a Jazz neck, but most are usually in a JP configuration which many don’t have any need for the Jazz pickup. I'm now looking at the Fender American Professional II, but I won't buy it because of the neck, but if I had the choice of buying it with a Jazz neck fitted, then I would pull the trigger now. Surely a standard Fender Precision fitted with a Jazz neck would fly out, wouldn't it? 🤔

Rather than paying for a strip and professional paint job, why not get one of these? I've done a few Precisions using Northwest bodies and the finishes are superb, alder body and painted for £175. https://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/jazz-bass-bodies/

I'm always a bit hesitant uploading my playing videos because there are so many great bassists on BC, but here's my take on Tie Your Mother Down. I'm going straight into my interface and Reaper, no effects added. The original backing track was downloaded without any bass in the mix. Tie Your Mother Down - Brian Darke.mov

Are there any BassChatters who make Custom Scratchplates?

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will research them all -

This, I go to my local most weeks to see live bands and if they are too loud, then I leave, and many others do the same. When I play live with the band, we always check with the venue owner and the bar staff to make sure we are not too loud. Just out of curiosity, why do you need to be so loud in a pub?

I checked out the website, unfortunately they don't do like-for-like replacement pickguards and recommend using TinyTone -

I had one made by TinyTone not so long ago, they did a nice job but it was a bit pricey. -
Ibanez GSRM20 miKro Bass Guitar (Black) NOW SOLD! I purchased this lovely little bass through the marketplace as a travel/backup bass, but it is now surplus to requirements. It plays and sounds great with its PJ configuration. It weighs just 6lb 4oz, and measures 38.5" (980mm) in length. It is an very good condition with just one small mark on the back which you can hardly see. You are welcome to try it out at my home in Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

£148 + £20 shipping for something that I would take to the tip, I never cease to be amazed at what some people will buy. 🤔

I could use the guard it comes with as a template and have one made I guess 🤔
-
Do any of you know if replacement pick guards are available anywhere for the Sterling HH version? I've done a few searches and haven't found any yet, or would the Ernie Ball guards fit?

Like you, I don't like these type of sellers either, but I think I will pass on making a £1000 bid just in case eBay does bugger all about the seller 😉

To be honest, I never even noticed the bridge plate, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, and if I was to replace it with a smaller plate, there is always the chance that the outline of the larger plate would be pressed into the paintwork.

Well he's still calling it a Fender, so it looks like you will have to make your bid of £1000,😲 I would guess that the bidders (28 at the last count with the highest bid £122) probably know it's not a Fender and are looking to purchase it for a project.🤔 I would still like to see eBay take action though.

👍 Thanks for heads up, I might just treat myself to an early Xmas present. 🎄

I've mostly played P basses with a Jazz neck fitted because I prefer the narrower nut, but I'm now thinking of getting myself a Sterling by Musicman SUB bass HH to give myself something a bit different. The specs state that the nut is 38mm, so if anyone owns one, I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts on how the neck plays, are they similar to a Jazz neck in both feel and playability? Thanks.

Urgent help needed. Drummer forgotten kick pedal.
thebrig replied to mrtcat's topic in General Discussion
Unfortunately I've only just seen this post, I live in Bridgnorth (No "E" Bridgnorth btw), 😉 and probably could have helped you out, I don't have one myself but I know a few drummers who I could have contacted on your behalf. Glad you managed to get through the gig ok, where were you playing? -
Sennheiser HD 595 Headphones Now SOLD! I purchased these high quality headphones brand new, but I hardly ever used them due to listening to most of my music through my Hi-Fi system speakers. They are practically unmarked, and there is minimal wear to the pads and headband. Unfortunately, I no longer have the original box but they will be well packaged in another box for shipping.
