2. Hi, A top rig for sale. Mark Bass LMII 250 head (so light its unreal) and a 6x10 cab. The rig is in perfect condition, all original, still have tags for the cabs. Very HIFI and very punchy. based in Blackburn if you want to come and have a noodle on it. Got to be £900
3. On a sensible note it has been refreshing to learn something completely new and I am enjoying it, I dont really think it will take over my style etc as I play all rock material and have no songs it would suit. Need to go now and make youtube clips of me slapping away
4.
You're being a bit overdramatic here...do it if you want preferably somewhere I don't have to hear you
lighten up dude
5. I have played bass for many many years and like a lot of folk on here I have often slagged of slappers especially bad taste over the top slappers, or slapping for the sake of it when not required. (Oh and music shop slappers) Deep down though I don’t know if it was just jealousy as I couldn’t play that style. I have had all the books and vids on it and copied a few you tube licks but never really got down to learning properly, I even have a Jaydee that’s never had its bottom slapped properly. It won’t go away though and I have over the last few weeks given it some time and effort and I like it, it’s giving me “bass buzz” again, my Jaydee is out of storage, my strings have shrunk to funk master 30/90s, and I have a seg on my thumb. Am I going over to the dark side? Will slap take over from my rock style playing? Will all bass players hate me from now on and slag of the slapping? Will I be a changed man? I can’t stop myself from following this terrible path and like a star trek tractor beam it is drawing me in. Help
6. get an east retro fit, they are brilliant
7. dont bother with marine ply, its expensive and the only difference is the glue used, the bare timber of the ply is the same as cheaper ply, marine ply has glue that wont break down immersed in salt water, just use cheap sheathing ply but paint it
8. I am still wanting this cab, please dont make me beg
9. yes it is the goliath sorry, will post pictures asap
10. oh come on this is a monster rig

18. Hi Kev, Didnt know you were running SVT stuff, we are gigging at the cricks on Saturday or I would have come along, I will defo come along to the Talbot on the 7th though. How do you think it is in comparison to the SWR rig as you have used them both Cheers Rob
Hi Rob, If you're not gigging this Saturday come over to the Derby Arms in Colne and try my Pro 3 and 2 4x10's, get up for a couple of songs too if you want? Cheers Kev
19. Thats highly likely to be honest, I can get a bit carried away, thats why I moved from eden to the SWR rig the 750x has a ton of power and the 610 goliath is indestructable no matter how I play with them matched up together. I may be better sticking to the SWR rig and using the sansamp for a bit of grind. 20 years plus and still not happy with my sound, will the quest ever end? will the GAS ever stop, perhams I need a new guitar.............
20. I dont need 2 8x10s thats way over the top for what I need. I will play a pub as smallest gig and up to festivals for biggest, however the bigger gigs would have PA support so are not an issue, its the mid sized large pub/club size that bring me issues. I got the 2 x 2x10 edens thinking that would be enough and driving them both to max at 2ohms would be fine, but I have pushed them a few times and suffered the blown speakers because of it. I tend not to use a compressor much and as I have an aggressive style it can cause problems when you are getting to the upper limits. With a 6x10 I have enough
21. I have all 4 ohm eden cabs so can play 210xlt for small gigs, 210xst &210xlt medium gigs and 410 xlt with 210xst for big gigs and I run it at 2 ohm. I have blown the 210xst once and the xlt twice through driving it too hard. Again though if I was playing Jazz, nice clear blues, pop etc the eden stuff would be great but my main focus is with a rock band and I need some attitude, I also need to cut through a noisy busy drummer and a couple of marshall stacks
22. I have tried a lot of kit and sure the likes of \bergantino, etc are all great options in fact I was looking at the genz benz shuttle 9 with the bergantino 4x10 cab but I felt it would be more akin to playing Santana than nirvanna if you know what I mean. I want some growling attitude, my eden stuff and SWR give me wonderfull clear bright tones but its just not doing it for me and I felt going down TC or berg or GB will take me back to the same spot as I am in with eden and SWR. Does that make sense?
23. Hi Fellow bass players, I currently have 2 rigs that I use, an SWR 750x into a goliath 610 and I have the eden wt550 and have 3 cabs I can swap about with a 410xlt, 210xst and 210xlt. I still havent found what I am looking for in my sound though and am considering a move to Ampeg to get a bit more "attitude", so with the following in mind could you tell me what would be the best rig in your opinion. I play rock and classic rock, I have blown 4x10s before with this band so probably need at least 6x10 or cabs to give me that level of volume. We often play without a sound engineer and use the backline as volume (when we have PA and engineer support its not a problem) I play finger style and play quite hard and have an aggressive style and use an Overwater 4 string with an East pre amp so have huge tonal control on my guitar. I dont like muffled blusey bass and like a bright "new strings" kind of sound. I dont go for effects but do have a sansamp in the box and an ebs compressor. I like the idea of the CL series as its a simple plug and play with little to do but dont really know if the valve thing is worth the hasstle so was possibly thinking SVT 450H, if valves do make a huge difference I would go CL but as I like a bright sound possibly pro3 (the 4 looks great but I just wont use all the features and would get into a knot) Cabs wise I thought I can write out HLF cabs as they are for 5 string/de tuned? please correct me if I am wrong so its 8x10 or 4x10 and a 1x15 or maybe get all 3 then I can chop about If I go 410 & 1x15 I have the choice of a smaller rig for smaller gigs and easy transport as the 8x10 looks a monster to lug about. I would be interested to have any genuine advice from Ampeg users please. Kind Regards Rob
