1. Yes the body is quite ergonomic compared to many doubles and it's made from obeche which isn't a dense wood. The heaviest bits are the plethora of tuners!
2. It's mine and it's not as heavy as the Gordy twin neck I sold on here. Weighs just over 12lbs and balances ok when standing. It's being sold as I have 5 Shergolds and I love them all but rarely play any other than my Modulator - although another Marathon 6 would be nice. I'm after what I paid for it so if anyone is interested here pm me....

Hi it's heavy given it's stunted size but not too heavy if you know what I mean I reckon it's just over 8lbs Cheers

Yep a great little bass - lots of interest but as yet mainly from overseas. I'd prefer to sell in the UK as it's less hassle but may consider it as the bass is relatively small. At buyers cost of course!

Thanks it's a great setup but a bit too much for my needs at present - I used it last night at Lancaster Castle in one of the old prison wings incredible tone and power.

Cheers Karl you are right a versatile and powerful amp. For those who have asked I don't want to sell the modules separately.
14. Cheers
15. Thanks for the info 4000! I've had a fireglo 4000 and an azureglo the former had a through neck and wasn't as nice to play as the others. I read that the fixed necks were fairly uncommon in the Ric bass book. Having said that 4000 basses are pretty scarce full stop! Yep I really like this one, it's beaten up but sounds and plays superbly.

Bump for offers
17. Boxed with instructions and used at home a couple of times only. This works with the Moogerfooger pedals and the minis plus all the newer synths. Postage will be a fiver. Cheers
18. As promised a couple of pics of my 4000 note the set neck only produced for a short time. The tuners are replacements apart from one of the 'wavy' Grovers. It has been refinished as you can see some of the old burgundy paint job through the dings. In the last pic it sits next to my similar era shortscale 3000 bass. This is a bolt on neck 'student' bass that has the loudest pickup ever!

21.
Interesting. Mine is a 2012, wide-ish neck but not as wide as many 4001/3's that I have had. Slim profile back to front. The whole Rick sound to me is a bit of a misnomer. When you put in studio work, effects pedals, strings, technique, amp/amps there is a lot that goes into making that Rick sound. Even with a couple of early 70's Ricks I struggled to get a sound like Squires. Mebbe it's just that I'm sh*te. This 4004 will do anything from JPJ to 'Arry with just tweeks of the rotaries. That'll do me.
Seems like this Rick is a winner for you Karl - glad to hear it! I have my sights on the new 4003S I prefer the unbound look and contouring. My main bass now is a '75 Rick 4000 mono with a set as opposed to through neck. It's bloody luverly

23. His solo album Epsilon in Malaysian Pale is beautiful, it's hard to get the original version as it was remixed and 'improved' for CD but if you can get it buy it! To me it's a work of genius. I met him and Chris Franke at Manchester Apollo 1981 at a TD gig and he patiently signed our record covers and spoke a few words with us. RIP Edgar.
24. Still waiting for the weight of this
