1.
I've just been offered one of the 500/3? in straight swap for the Aerodyne Jazz I'm selling.
Apparently early 60's in good nick.
Have I dropped a clanger here?
    Karl.

Edited, found it, linky below, comments chaps please?

The chap who's selling this approached me about a swap for my John Birch Rickenfaker - I did a bit of research and this has been around for ages in various sales/swaps forums, its not a particularly desirable bass and they tend to go for the 300 quid mark and that is all original excellent condition. The chap was friendly enough however (until I mentioned cash to balance the value) and I think genuine - he probably thought it was the model associated with Stuart Sutcliffe. I wouldn't bother as your Jazz would fetch far more - swap you for my JB plus cash! :)

  3.
There's a bid on it now too. Someone's going to get seriously stung...
Once again I'm wondering why they pulled my John Birch Faker and not this? I described it as a UK made bass and there was no reference to the R word, mine got pulled and to cap it all I got barred from selling on Ebay temporarily, I also got a flea in my email from John Hall about how I was breaching intellectual copyright! I wasn't trying to con anybody into believing it was a Rick and if anyone's seen my JB it isn't an overt copy - I'd say 'inspired' by the Rick shape....

Its a Kay used to be sold in Woolies and catalogues unless you are buying for nostalgia I'd say DON'T DO IT!!!! :)

  5.
Looks like Ibby pups but I don't recall Ibanez doing a bolt-on neck. Bassassin is sure the one to analyse this fella.
Yes Ibanez did do a bolt on. Oddly the pickups were more 'Ricklike' on that version than their more expensive - presumably earlier - through neck version which had a big Gibson EBO type neck pickup and a smaller one at the bridge. I've owned both versions and they are very nice basses in their own right. The pickups certainly look similar to my old bolt on but I've only ever seen the black finish on a through neck. Daft price for what it is if it is an Ibby certainly not up to the standards of a JB or a real Rick.

  6. This is a great bass for those new to 5 string or wanting a backup bass. It has a nice straight wide neck with a shallow profile, easy string spacing and action. Two jazz type pickups give plenty of tonal variation. The bass is in excellent condition with no issues. Its in a black finish with rosewood fingerboard. Looking for 125 GBP and will post in the UK for an extra 15 quid.

Page 5, my post is under "Mad Dog Cole" about half way down - and then the Ricks are great & all else is crap begins. Loved how it ended from a poster with a quick insult before the mod endorsed the insult then locked it.
It's incredible its like they've been brainwashed or cloned to a unified doctrine of stupidity - they don't seem to have any understanding of your hypothesis.....

  8. Here is my lovely old Fender Jazz Bass its made rather than crafted in Japan - although I'm not sure if there is a significant difference. The bass has the nicest neck of any MIJ Jazz I've owned or played, it's very slim and easy to play and in excellent condition. The bass is all original but as you can see there is no scratchplate ( I have one knocking about in a kind of tortoiseshell/red pearloid the holes don't line up but I will include it if wanted). There are no extra routes or structural issues with the bass. The pickups sound great - typical Jazz sound - you know what I mean. The black finish is original but a bit scruffy, there is a significant ding at the bottom of the bass, one on the lower bout (touched up) and near the neck plate (see pics). These are just cosmetic, its obvious someone has tried to buff some flaws to the finish up at some point and in a certain light you can see patches of surface scuffing to the gloss - very difficult to capture accurately in pics especially on a black bass. This bass contains no artificial 'distressing' and has the honorable marks of time rather than the dishonorable marks of a sander! The bass is light - around 8lbs - with a good balance, like many of the earlier MIJ Jazz basses including the JV series the copper earthing strip runs from bridge to treble pickup and is clearly visible. The control route has a copper plate also. The hardware is tarnished and there are spots of rust here and there but all perfectly functional. This is a great bass for gigging and will serve you well! Comes with a gigbag. I'm not after trades on this - looking for 350 pounds - as I'm not sure how much these are going for. Cash preferred but paypal via 'gift' possible I could post within the UK but this would be extra.

There's a couple on at the moment, I was similarly surprised that the Ibanez lasted, wonder why Mr Hall finds the John Birch so threatening eh? :)

  10. All original 1974 all valve WEM Clubman Mark 9 combo 5 watt. This is a great little valve practice or recording amp. This has also been used for guitar and breaks up nicely at volume. A great little British classic amp. I'm looking at 120 collected. Its in great condition the pots are a bit scratchy and the silver metal fascia under the controls was lost years ago - other than that no issues, very clean inside with valves labelled and a nice original 10'' speaker.
