I dep regularly for various bands on both bass and drums (not at the same time!). I usually get whatever the regular guy gets - occasionally if I’ve had to travel further I might get a contribution to petrol, but that’s about it. Most of mine are covers bands so getting the tunes down is reasonably straightforward. Most bands I play with want at least one run through because they all do the standard covers band tunes in a different way. For example, one used backing tracks but the versions were different to the originals, so had I just been going straight in, that would have been quite the shock. I don’t generally want lots of rehearsals though - that’s mainly why I like depping so much. I’m not a pro by any standard, but I’m reasonably capable and reliable, and that’s what’s got me regular dep gigs.

Warwick Rockbass dual/double bass guitar bag. Quite old, not sure whether this model is still on sale now. It's got some nicks and dings - one on the front pocket and a nick on the side padding - but all zips still work fine. It's been used for storage for the last decade or so and is very dusty in the pics; some of the metalwork has rusted/tarnished. The gaffa around one of the straps is there to make it more comfortable; both shoulder straps are present (the other one is zipped away in its compartment). It's just dust on the inside in the photos. Ideal for storage, and still giggable if you're careful. £50 plus postage?

Just sold a couple of pedalboards to Jim - a great buyer, hope you enjoy them!

Have you ever thought your pedals weren't long enough? Have you ever wanted to create a dangerous trip-hazard for your bandmates? Are you tired of having to reach over the pedals at the front to get the ones at the back? If so, this is your lucky day! Feast your eyes on the Pedaltrain Nanomax, the only pedalboard modelled after a dachshund. In used condition - some screw marks where a CIOKS Grip was mounted (I've since sharpied them in!). Comes with softcase. £40 plus postage (could be a bit chunky because of the length [oo-er missus] but I can check before posting).

For sale, my Radial Tonebone Bassbone OD preamp pedal. A two-channel bass preamp with HPF, piezo input for double bass, DI out and switchable overdrive. A great pedal, I used it for years to double on electric and DB. Made it really easy with the dual EQ, switchable HPF, boosted input for the DB and tuner out. I've gone to more separated signal paths now (still via a Radial I/O!) so this is just sitting around not doing anything. Comes with original box, papers, and PSU. NOTE THAT THIS USES A 15v CENTRE POSITIVE PSU so you need the proper power supply or one that can feed it the correct polarity supply. A 'normal' Boss-style PSU won't work and will fry the pedal (as I found out with another one of these - this is the replacement one I bought). Recently PAT-tested too. Has Dual-lock on the bottom. These are now RRP £439! £260 posted.

***edit - deciding to keep this for now*** For sale is my lovely Yamaha TRB-IIF 5-string factory fretless bass in trans blue. It's a 35" scale factory fretless version of the well-regarded TRB-II basses. Made in Japan between 1998 and 2004, these were top of the line instruments, featuring Yamaha Alnico single-coil hum cancelling pickups and Yamaha's TRB 'Q-mix' 3-band preamp. This is an absolutely lovely example; there's some very small dings on the top but otherwise it's amazing for a 25+ year bass. The serial no suggests it was made in 2000 (if I've read this guide correctly). It has 18mm string spacing, and is currently fitted with DR Legend flatwounds. I think I have some Rotosound tapewounds if you would prefer. A lovely low action and amazing fretless tone. Got Basschat strap holders on ATM - I'll remove those and the strap unless you desperately want them. I think £900 is a fair value, looking at some others for sale ATM, but happy to consider offers. I much prefer a meet up than posting so you can be absolutely happy with what you're buying, but will post (UK only) if you’re desperate. I’ve agreed to buy a bass so this is now for sale only. Thanks for reading!

Yep, Gator was one of my first ports of call but I gave up as their website is unnavigable! I’ll take a look on Andertons, thanks.

Thanks - will take a look. Hmm, not looking for a hardcase ATM but worth bearing in mind if I change it! That Access bag looks handy - quiite spendy though! The Producer backpack might be worth a look! I've seen the Accessory Bag but don't know how it works out size-wise - that one looks quite big to me. It's strange, they're a properly niche product but there must be a market out there for a proper bass player's gig bag!

Mini overdrive pedals that don't lose low end

Another recommendation for the Nobels - I have one and it's great. They also comfortably come in below £100: https://richtonemusic.co.uk/Nobels-ODR-Mini/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_dMP2mU7HJHM6ivOpTCYajXwLUO&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzrzABhD8ARIsANlSWNNJYcfn9nLX3jXkUS2tdd738P0Vnvt9mcdi5BlMFu_zKHNLvU8O4hAaAg4YEALw_wcB Looks like they've issued a v2 with adjustable bass control: https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/241007430618008--nobels-odr-mini2-mini-overdrive-pedal?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD76p-3t5uLD4DbNS_Iy7Q0NGNOTb&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzrzABhD8ARIsANlSWNNtv6M9Gqi6-KnAmZPBtqecq2szHBli9ceQdPmn2AKH0WZASIj_-n4aAsHsEALw_wcB -
I was wondering if anyone can recommend an accessory gig bag that will accomodate the following: Class D head 3 x instrument cables Speaker cables x2 IEC cable Hercules mini-stand 4-way reel Bass Bar stand (https://caswells-strings.co.uk/product/the-bass-bar-double-bass-stand/) Ipad Pockets for odds and sods such as picks, wireless, page turner, chargers etc etc.... I've found bags that will take most stuff, but it's the Bass Bar that causes problems! Currently looking at stuff like this: https://www.thomann.co.uk/flyht_pro_gorilla_soft_case_gac410.htm But I'm finding it hard to visualise how much stuff fits in one. This looks like it might be good, but could be too big: https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Trojan-Pro-Cable-Gig-Bag-40/6TA6 Basically at the moment I carry three separate bags/cases plus the instrument/s, and it'd be good to reduce that down to one if possible! All recommendations gratefully received.

I'd take a look for something like a used Mackie SW1501. I have one for my PA, and rarely actually use it. They're cheap as chips because they weigh an absolute ton. Provided you can collect I'm sure you'd find one for around your budget.

3/4-size NS WAV 4 Bass – On Hold - *SOLD*

That's awful. I actually messaged Louis about a bow I have and I'm selling and hate to think genuine messages could end up being exploited by these scammers!
-
No, it was the Finally v3.

Just to come back to this. It turns out it wasn't the tube, apparently there was an issue with a couple of the pedals where the HPF became microphonic. Nathan was great to deal with, and I have a replacement which hopefully doesn't go the same way! Love the sound of the pedal though, adds so much richness.
-
Hmm, what a pain! I did get one of these but never got round to trying it - might be worth a crack on each pedal to try and sort it? https://www.thomann.co.uk/joyo_zgp_noise_blocker.htm

I found one of the problems I was having with ground loop hums (despite having a ground lift on my preamp) was to do with daisy chaining pedals. I had a fully isolated Cioks PSU but even so, I ended up with a lot of noise in the signal chain. I've ended up trying to make sure that only pedals that don't contribute to the signal chain (such as a tuner driven from a separate tuner out, MIDI switcher pedal, A/B switch etc) are daisy chained. Can you reconfigure your 'other pedals' if they're daisy chained?
-
I went to Bowspeed for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely fantastic that shops like this still exist. The wealth of knowledge Hamilton has is amazing and I could spend hours listening to him!
-
Ah, that sounds like the same issue then. Don’t even need to open it up, just tapping the pedal (or even the board) makes a clunking noise.
-
Difficult to say what the mic could be from that pic, but the windshield shape suggests it could be a DPA: https://www.dpamicrophones.com/microphones/instrument/4099?variant=29
-
@Quatschmacher @Kev Could either of you expand on the issue with the tubes please? By PM if easier. I've recently received a new Finally V3 and love it, but the first time I used it in anger at performance volume today (I'd only set it up beforehand) there was a lot of noise which seemed to be coming from the physical pedalboard chassis - i.e. when you stepped on a pedal the clunk seemed to reverberate through the board. It seems linked to the Finally as when bypassed it was fine, all the connections are good and didn't happen before it was on the board.

We've all been there! 🤣
