1. Bluesparky, PM sent Do you receive PM notifications?
 2. I am glad you like it. The PCB wasn't in such bad conditions. One track was damaged but nothing that couldn't be fixed.
 3.
I love my Digitech Bad Monkey. More overdrive growl than distortion though.
+1 Great pedal for a reasonable price.
 4.
So what do you think then, 7v ?
7V DC is the absolute minimum. The Xciter should work but you may have clipping problems with a strong input signal.
 5. If you have multimeter, it might be a good idea check the actual output voltage but considering that the Xciter accepts a wide range of voltages, it should be ok.
 6. The old version is not true-bypass (but it can be converted to true-bypass) The new version is true-bypass.
 7.
I did what obbm of this very forum suggested and got a short XLR lead and disconnected pin 1 for use with desks where there may be phantom power. That means there's no circuit for the 48v phantom supply but the signal's OK as it's carried on pins 2 and 3. Saves the worry of damage without the cost of an isolating transformer.
You can achieve the same think using the "ground lift" switch. In theory it shouldn't be necessary though. Good DIs are designed to work without problems when connected to phantom power.
 8. Sometimes the DI/XLR outputs of the amps are not at the same quality level of dedicated DIs but in a band environment it’s probably difficult hear the difference anyway. I would recommend you set "GND LIFT" to off.
 9.
Cheers for the responses guys, sorry I havent been able to get back to you all, Ive been in Spain! Just a couple more questions (sorry!) 1) Does it physically boost what ever frequency you dial in? 2) is there a point where the sound gets very trebely/gritty, just would be nice if it did this for me! Thanks, Josh
This is not how the KO operates. I wrote a review a while ago. You may find it interesting.
 10. Have you though about a phaser? Another option could be a Zoom b2.1u...
 11. I think it is a nice pedal. It is essentialy an EQ with an unusual interface and filtering so don't expect super-effects. The only think I don't like is its size. Considering that half of the box is empty EHX could have make it smaller.
 12. From the Aphex Web site:
Flexible External Power 7 to 36VDC any polarity 5 to 24VAC If the plug fits, it works!

If it is 9V DC then could I power all my 9V DC pedal via a couple of daisy-chains?
Yes - providing the pedals don't have any specific requirement. I have an Aphex Xciter and I can daisy-chain it to all my other pedals without any problem.
Would the problem with the noisey EHX and Line 6 be solved by those gig-rig battery doo-dad? I've heard mention of them but I'm not entirely sure what they do!
The GigRig Virtual Battery, isolates the 9V-input from the 9V-output. In other words, from the output of the Virtual Battery you get 9V that have no point of electrical contact with the input power supply. If you experience incompatibility problems with the power supply, it might help. Unless the producer says that you shouldn't, I would test the pedals without it first.
 13. Are you sure the Aphex Punch Factory needs 9V-AC. AFAIK it works with 9V-AC or 9V-DC.
 14. The Korg Kaoss Pad KP3 is a very cool device. The only problem is that is has been designed to operate with fingers. AFAIK it is possible to control the X-Y coordinates with a MIDI CC messages but I am not 100% sure.
 15. On top of my mind I can think to a few cases: - Change EQ between fingerstyle and slap. - Tone control of the amp doesn't have the cut off frequencies that I like/need - Portable EQ solution - Change tone and volume between basses (e.g. active/passive, fretted/fretless) - Buffer for connection to a recording device - Booster to saturate an amp or an overdrive - Post/post-distortion equalization - ...
 16. I am selling my Xotic BB preamp. It is brand new. I used only a few times at home, on my desk. I didn't even use my feet to turn it on/off The net is full of reviews that tell how great this pedal sounds. You probably already know it. I am selling it because for some unknown reason I end up buying overdrives but I realise after a few weeks that I don’t need them --- WITHDRAWN ---
 17.
I still have that Blue Dragon pedal (the one in the mini-chassis, think i bought it off you a while ago?) and it works a treat, very transparent and a handy little pedal
The Blue Dragon you have is based on Jack Orman's mosfet booster. It is nice little pedal but it a completely different from the current Blue Dragon.
 18.
Why do you need these specific cables?
No specific reason. I customer mention them as good quality cables and I was interested in try them.
 19.
(...) I am also looking for something to boost my clean levels, since when i hit the drive and fuzz off the volume takes abit of a hit. I've tried lowering the volume on the pedals but it just doesnt seem to have the same bite then. Does anyone have a clean boost pedal that is really good. Eg something just to give me abit more volume for the cleans, and finally is there anyway/pedal that will latch on when another latches off? So i hit a pedal off (my loop) and it engages the clean boost automatically. Or something?(...)
The Boss LS-2 should be able to do what you look for. Alternatively, (I hope it doesn’t sound like an ad) I designed a booster specifically for absolute transparency. I can modify it to activate an external loop when the boost is not active.
 20.
(...) I've been trying to find a UK supplier who stocks one of the following: - Canare GS-6 - Canare GS-4 - Mogami 2524 but I can't find one. I've tried RS, Studio Spares, Canford, etc. (...)
If you manage to find them in the UK please let me know. I was looking for the same type of cables a while ago.
 21.
(...) My guess is it's basically a rectifier using diodes that flips the negative part of the bass signal up to the positive, so getting two humps in the waveform for the price of one.(...)
I though exactly the same thing. I am not entirely sure but in theory a bridge of Schottky diodes and some filtering to remove the DC component should do the trick.
 22. I am not sure I understand why you would like to run the effects in a second amp. Unless the the second amp has a very strong personality, from the sound viewpoint, you should be able to achieve the same thing with a blender.
 23.
I'm after a decent cheapish DI box with tuner out- can any of you DI experts recommend one???
A lot of DIs have a "parallel" (aka pass-through) output that you can connect to a tuner. Alternatively, you could connect the output of the tuner to the DI or split the signal with a Y cable and send it to the tuner and the DI.
 24. Metaltime and Katri - email received. I'll get back to you later in the week. Thanks, Max [sfx]
 25. Quick update By now all the applicants should have received an answer. If you haven't please let me know. All the best, Max [sfx]
