2.
Wow i read the info sounds like a really cool event to go to but im afraid i can't go =/ my mothers in hospital so im running the pub with my old man and because it's getting close to christmas it's getting rather busy thanks for the invite though. Callum
No worries. Good luck with the sale. I have a spare bag of fullstops and commas here if you'd like them?
 3. Well yes, £110 off RRP.... I saw that but when I G ^_^ ^_^ gled it I found they were only knocking off £5 on the price everyone else sells them for ....
 4.
hmm im thinking about getting rid of my p-bass its either 1999 or 1998 made in corona, california got all the original tags from buying it from the shop comes in a hardshell case i think it's a ash body,4 string. only 1 little chip on the back which i don't think is bad seems it's like 11 years old would be interested in a trade for a 5 string fretless bass with fret lines of the same kinda value if you live kinda local as i don't drive not that i know how much it's worth seems ive never seen anyone selling one as they don't make them anymore heres a few pictures for everyone to have a look at =)
Welcome to Bass chat, mate, Certainly looks nice and like it has an Ash body.. Bring it along to the Cardiff bass bash next week? See my sig for link to details. Cheers, OG ..
 5.
Great ideas and thanks for the prompt responses Always wanted to play Christmas Wrapping so need to get the mag today as the bass line sounds excellent
Yeah great bassline. You'll have to convince your singer though. I don't think it's easy to sing judging by the live versions on Youtube and the singers both have the words on about 20 sheets of paper Listen to that crowd go though.....
 6. Ha ha Spotify! Then at least you can listen before you buy. I'm listening to Jamaican reggae band "the Gaylords" this morning because someone posted a Spotify link reminding me of their existence. It was Big Fish yesterday
 7. I just louve Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses (fabbo bassline is transcribed in this month's Bass Player, BTW) but I imagine anyone who has to remember to words would not consider it "easy" .. Bruce's Santa Clause is coming to town has to be on the list. If your audience can stand a slow blues then Charle's Brown's Merry Christmas Baby is a nice one. Or Bruce's version which rocks a bit more
 8. Good list .. the links don't seem to work though .. What sthe last one?
 9. Yeah That's the guy.. same odd knob spacing and the TRC looks like that (the anorak in me downloded it and did an enhance Not as good as CSI Miami but close enough to see it's the same as this one)
 10.
Bikers and Hells Angels are different life forms! I've played bikers gigs and they are great people, we even got asked to turn down at one! But with Hells Angels, just keep it loud and don't stop playing. Oh, and if they ask for a request or an encore, just do it!! I used to play at the Cartoon in Croydon and the Road Rats, local and very nasty Hells Angels gang, used to love the band, thank god!!
Go on, tell me there was some Barry Manilow in the set list
 11.
Ishibashi links tend to do this - this one might work for a minute or two: http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/ubox.cgi?...p&tid=list3 Anyway, the pics aren't great & I can't read Kanji, but this looks like a fairly faithful modern 4001/4003 copy to me, bolt-neck, accurate hardware, which most modern copies don't have. The title just describes it as "4001 Type", and I can't read what's on the headstock. Not sure what's happened with the control layout, though. Good price - but Ishi prices often are for 'Fakers, because they've continued to be made for the home market despite becoming largely extinct in the West since the 70s. Shipping & customs might smart a bit. J.
Add about £100 for shipping, duty and parcelforce's ransom ..
 12. I guess what you do depends on whether you want to gig or not, the audiences and how long you want to play for.
 13. What's this? About £200 on the Ishibashi used pages. New plate with the knobs in the right place would help http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/e/ubox.cg...p&tid=list3
 14. If the question is "does your bass sound better if the volume controls are set at 10, 8 or 5?" then we should probably differentiate between actives and passives.
 15.
I quite fancy those but the Jaxon Deadman Topper is very tempting. I feel a dress code for the bash coming...
ha ha yeah. Dress code is black rock/bass/amplifier/band themed tee shirts and jeans I like those too specially if it came with this face. My wife would like that
 16.
Who is the band Alan...? Hope its not Sabre...cos damn....that would be a bad gig....
"Bad" traditional or "bad" 1980's?
 17. I don't understand the problem. It's the balance and suitability of the volume levels for the tune / event / room / audience that matters, not if it indicates 1 or 12 on the volume setting.
 18.
OK, so what about us baldies? Should we wear hats on the principle that hats are cool so why shouldn't we get to wear them like hairy bas***ds, or should we avoid them on the 'Edge' principla that everyone is going, 'well we know why he wears a hat'? fatback
Choose your hat carefully ... Dave Hill from Slade
 19.
Check out this band, Clatter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAhQ2F56Gn0 Also here, posted before on this forum, you'll find more about her rig: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6HbKRkPnpA
Excellent explanation. She has a12 string here too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24FFBDaoFgk That's the winner for me so far:) The Jazz stuff is a bit "Ummm. Nice" and the Metalish stuff just sounds like a normal metalish band.
 20.
The god of all basses... Mr Andy Fraser (Free).
Another from the same gig, I suspect. Do you think he got his nose done at some point? 2006
 21.
More amps and more cabs is a definite theme. Heres a local band that do it: Fun finding their website on google.
ha ha yeah I can imagine Meanwhile .... Now despite the more simple playing than the Kinky Wizzards I think that is a lot better to listen to. Loops and samples would be good too..
 22. We have a local Drum + Bass brothers Duo called Kinky Wizzards who are great showmen and players Myspace http://www.myspace.com/kinkywizzards Vid http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...ideoID=40129968 I have to say though that it gets a bit tedious once you've seen them a few times, or after a few tunes. I've only ever seen them do 20 mins and that was enough. You quickly start wishing for a vocal, a tune or other instruments to play some different sounds ... So, plan carefully and make sure you are entertaining to normal humans as well as other players who go "wow" once or twice
 23.
I've been playing since I was 12, that's 25 years now, and I've spent the last 10 years playing pro/semi pro. I studied at college for 3 years. I can sight read. I've done hundreds of gigs and loads of studio work and theatre pit work. I have great gear, and transport. I'm reliable and honest. And I can play pretty much any style of music to a very high standard. So why can't people be bothered to reply to me when I answer their adverts ?
Probably because you are scarily talented beyond their ability and bass players just ain't supposed to be like that. Try leaving half of it out next time?
 24. You'll be fine mate, Earplugs a go-go though
 25. There's studio racking made from IKEA "Rast" bedside tables on the IKEA Hacker site
