1.
Well, I don't know who decided that the Les Paul Bass was a good idea, but the original Les Paul guitar was designed by Ted McCarty (in collaboration with, and endorsed by, Les Paul). Ted McCarty... wait for it... didn't play guitar either. Maybe there's something to it? Some sort of objectivity that comes from approaching the situation purely as an engineer.
So which famous ground breaking planks were designed by players?
 2.
<set mood to HOPEFUL> I hope this doesn't mean that the delivery of my bass will be delayed any further! Mark
Hope not!.. Were you expecting yours next week too?
 3.
Anyone ever wondered about what could've been different if Leo Fender had learned to play? It's always seemed remarkable to me that a non-player could get so much right when it came to instruments. Unless it's all a myth, of course, and he had chops like Hendrix/Pastorius.
Bit of a lucky escape IMHO
 4. <Set patience to ON> I've suggested Enrico hangs on to the Ergon for an extra week as he has a few potential customers who want to look at the finished thing. They don't do many 4 string passive basses so it's a bit of an oddity. I'm cool with that as he's been great during the build and very understanding. Apparently my spec sheet was the most extensive and detailed they'd ever had, by a long way..
 5. "So you say in 40 years time you'll be able to buy one just like this, endorsed by a top bass player and for the price of a tank of gas? You Geordies do have a good sence of humor. Can you get me Eric Burdon's autograph?"
 6.
Yes, but why were 4 of them clipped outside his shirt and one left loose inside?
Even engineers have their rebellious moments
 7.
Get yerself one of these boy - with the Flanger module of course! I use one of these basses (Electra X-610 MPC model) as my main `rock' instrument and the flanger gets left on - its such a massive sound!
Goodness. What would Leo say?? Edit .. Is this the flanger in action here? Seems to be flanging the whole track!
 8.
OMG, OG! That is rather nice. May we expect a report once you've had a chance to gig it? (Or is that a silly question? )
Oh I expect so
That's the best W&T I have seen. Nice one.
Thanks Paul. Bit plain and normal for them I think. They like to do their exotica Can't wait to get my mits on it I just hope the shipping is fast enough to get here for my gig next Saturday
 9.
Cor Si, that's a bit nice... Last pics I saw of this were of wires and a big chunk of wood. How many basses are you down to now? Still got a cupboard full of P's? :-)
Ha ha yeah it has rather changed in the last few weeks .. Once the PJ goes off to it's new home I'll be down to three bass guitars: Posh 5 string, posh 4 string and a jam P bass Quite restrained really
 10. "Listen limey, I have my hand on my gun so if you don't take you hand out of my pants pocket I'll introduce you to Mr Colt"
 11.

ha ha Best description of a sunburst finish ever

 16.
Gorgeous Bass Si! Those boys out in Italy really know what they're doing don't they... You must be chuffed Eude
Well chuffed I was literally speechless when the pics came through. People who know me will know it takes a lot to achieve that The finished bass looks so much better than the bits and pieces build pics I've had so far. I'm really hoping they can get it here for my gig next weekend...
 17. Custom Wood & Tronics Ergon 4 string PJ passive. Finished yesterday. Let's hope the shippers are careful Enrico took some snaps. Proper studio shots to be taken Saturday but for now .... 18. 1998/99 USA Standard PJ Precision with shaped Fender Hard case. £500 plus postage Loads of pictures, just ask.
 19. Sounds rubbish. Come on someone, buy this beauty ..
 20. You may need a paper bag.... Method one: Breathe into it to alleviate panic attacks Method two: Put it over your head and await the courier bringing your new bass.
 21. Or and ibanez precision-alike ... and a plectrum .. Oh! Just remembered I have a flanger for sale http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry696424
 22.
the myspace is about as informative as this one
In terms of bass player recruitment this probably counts as an epic fail then ....
 23. I suspect we are expected to go to myspace and communicate that way. I think the guy won't be back here to answer any questions...
 24.
Mark Hoppus has a jazz body with a P-bass neck but Duff McKagen: Based on the instrument he has used ever since the first GNR album, the Duff McKagan Signature model is a distinctive, sleek and full-sounding reissue of the '80s-era Jazz Bass® Special, which combined a Precision Bass® body with a Jazz Bass neck and a set of Precision and Jazz Bass pickups. That's all here, with a Pearl White finish, gloss-black neck and headstock, TBX circuit (treble/bass cut), black hardware and custom skull-engraved neck plate. There is no other Fender bass in the line right now with this look, feel or sound.
Woah! that was weird. Thought Crazykiwi had reverted to his old Avatar for sec then .. There's plenty of variation on the neck width of p basses. Even the early ones came in A, B or C profile with A being relatively slim and C being being flat and wide. About 42mm at the nut..
 25. Sounds like you need Spotify or GrooveShark to check these things out before shelling out... I find ToP studio stuff a bit lacking (and lacking space in the bass ) but the live stuff has huge amount of excitement. Soul Vaccination live is crackin' http://open.spotify.com/album/3isAHpwMn35WtDIl4gfjV0
