I think it's lovely - but if your going down the custom bass route why bother getting a copy of someone else's bass when you can design your own - slightly off topic but I thought I'd throw it in there.
Because Leo got so much right in the Jazz and Precision that it is very hard to come up with a new shape and other characteristics that work as well. Especially when it's your own money and you want a fully functional bass you can love for ever as the end result .... It's a lot easier to improve a classic. If you look around many "custom" shapes are very similar to each other too so even one-off customs are likely to be "heavily influenced by" previous designs. Of course there are exceptions as BigRedX's Weird and Wonderful thredshows
 2.
Bloody hell, I thought I gonna get a couple of disagreements but people really are bothered by what I said. I totally agree that any bassist with enough cash is gonna go for the best they can, regardless of talent, I know I would. But the point I was making was the second thing I said. I may have phrased it badly but what I meant is it's not going to be the most effective signature model as the majority of fans aren't going to be able to afford one. I know it will generally raise Shukers profile in the long run so the endorsement is a good thing but what I was really questining was the need for a signature model. p.s. 'thisnameistaken', i'm not saying i'm any better than him or that I personally could get an endorsement/signature model. I've got all the perspective on the matter I need and i'd appreciate it if you didn't treat me like an idiot. Cheers, Mat
Sorry Mat, didn't mean to jump on what was meant to be a quip ... Jon's going to be selling these to normal people, not Kaiser fans who want to emulate Mr Rix. It will just be a "standard" model that people can order, just like the JJB.

 4.
i wish i had a bass hat....
I thought everyone had a bass hat! BTW what's east 17?
 5.
My drummer will be attending this as well for fun bass and drum jams.
I read that as: "My drummer will be attending this as well for fun bass and drum jokes" Sounds cruel
 6.
Yep, why is this necessary, and what exactly does it mean? It's kind of vague... Does it include in pms on this forum? In general conversation on another forum? Off line?
Total goodness so far, with this one exception. Please clarify or remove this clause
 7.
You mean the single pole-pieces? That's just what Delano pickups look like. Check out the Sandbergs, they use them too.
Some Delano's .. it's their Ferro one - the PMVC 4 FE/M2 Read allllll about it

 10.
What I don't understand is why such a mediocre band would need such a high end instrument.
Need? Well, no. No one needs anything much better than a Squier VM ,.. Want? Oh yes! Does have? OH YES!! Why? Simply "Because we can"...... Life's too damn short to play anything other than the best bass you can afford.
 11. I missed these two by a day Charles Mingus (1922); Paul Chambers (1935); Jon .. Nice idea but the rather clunky and dated site design puts me off. I'd suggest you get a skilled web design person to create a stylish and more functional design before publicising it too much.
 12.
Pleasure doing business with you sir. Everyones a winner, new head to me £100 to cancer research. Cheers for delivering aswell, very much appreciated. Top man
You too mate, take care with those cones
 13. Wow, such antipathy! Feel free to buy other makes ... Many people have bought a JJ Burnel Shuker P because it's a great P bass. Indeed my 5 string is essentially a JJB. For me, and I imagine many others, the JJ Burnel connection is interesting but certainly not enough to make me pay a premium and wait 9 months for a bass. This isn't a Squier Pete Wentz for £200... However having JJB come to Jon after he'd turned down a very large US based Precision bass maker beginning with F when they offered him a signature bass (allegedly) says a lot about the quality of the bloke's work. I doubt very much if Jon went out to get Simon Rix, or any other "young band" bassplayer to have a bass built. But having a high profile band's bass player order a custom bass he'd be daft not to make the most of it.
 14.
He's the man that made me leave bass day early a couple of years back....yawn. Surely JJ Burnel is infinitely more influential than the bloke from the ruddy Kaiser Chiefs no? I aint knocking anyone mind, each to his own I s'pose. I can't knock signature stuff, I've had my fair share, and I still have my Tony Levin, which although is heavily modded, is still a superb bass, however it seems to me that there's an awful lot of "signature" instruments around with some names on them that aren't exactly top of the influence list. I mean, the Kaiser Chiefs?? I can understand Marcus Miller, Jaco, James Jamerson (where IS the Jamerson sig bass?), but some of these lesser known people like m'laddo from the KCs, I mean, what'll be next, the "Bloke from Hannah Montana's backing band" signature bass? I'll be rushing out to buy that. All the "big name" rubbish to one side, that's a tasty looking bass.
A few months back there was a discussion of JJ Burnel on here and several people had no idea who he was ..... Seriously they didn't... Not all kids either. For the current generation of bassists, JJB is as long gone as James Jamerson, John Entnwhistle, Norman Watt-Roy and Paul Chambers ... All seriously influential on the people they look up to but way past it....
 15. Sold .. Cancer Research is now £100 better off. Ta to all interested parties..
 16.
How much would that set you back?
Well the JJB is about £1500 starting price so probably around there or a bit more for the work on the neck. Blocks must take ages ...
 17.
No, but I think I am as equally qualified as all those who hold Fodera in such high esteem (without actually having seen one, let alone play one), to pass such a ridiculous comment.
Indeed
 18. Oh er! There's a new "Signature" P bass at Shukers: A Simon Rix of the Kaiser Chiefs P bass .. Shuker Signature P bass gallery
 19.
For less than the price of a new Sadowsky you could look at a Shuker P5.
That's true .. P5 JJB-ish Shuker works out about £1600 .. You are welcome to have a go on mine anytime ..
 20.
'You oughta know' by alanis morissette, I find the songs very irritating however the line is un-mistakably very catchy.
Oooh Nice one. Not really listened to the bass before ... and there's that frisson of excitement just when there's a slight possibility that the DJ is playing the version without the radio edit

 23.
Price new now at GAK £760
Hi and welcome to Basschat. I hope you stick around ..
