Bought the Ashbory from Graham for a very reasonable figure. Posted Saturday and arrived Monday, all nicely packaged, then 10 days later a nice new set of strings arrived. Top man.

    South East Bash
+1 Thanks Dave...really helpful! Just wondering two things, (i) is there a space outside where we can unload our gear before parking up for the day and (ii) is the studio on the ground floor? See you there, Nik
Yes there is room enough outside to park and unload without blocking the road. It is the ground level but there are a couple of steps up. See you there.

    South East Bash

This afternoon I checked with the owner of Backline and everything is OK for Saturday from 10:00am. The entrance is directly off the Station Car Park on the Farnham/Cathedral/University side, not the town side or for those with a compass, the west side. If you are coming by train, take the exit for the University, not the town centre exit. This brings you out into Guildford Park Road. Turn left and turn left again down the slope signed Station Car Park/Farnham Road Car Park. If you are coming by road and end up in the one-way system, you need to take the road signed A31 Farnham. Immediately after the railway bridge is a mini roudabout. Turn left into Guildford Park Road. Turn right into Station Car Park/Farnham Road Car Park. At the bottom of the slope, turn right. Just in front of the bridge on the right-hand side next to the advertising hoarding are some green gates. This is the entrance to Backline. This is the Station Car Park which Pay and Display. If you carry on past Backline under the bridge you get to Farnham Road multi-storey car park which is pay-on-exit. See you all there.
  4. Ahah at last. Welcome. The knobs have just arrived so I'll be bringing Pinkie.

    South East Bash

I'm going into the venue tomorrow, Wednesday, just to confirm that everything is OK for Saturday. On the day I'll bring the three Laklands and my Epi rig. The 18th was a good date as I didn't have a gig that night but now I do so I'll have to leave a bit before the end.
  6. Hi Rufus Welcome from a very Oldie.

    Ready to Gig

I've finally got the recently acquired Lakland Daryll Jones 4-string ready for action. New scratchplate, new strings, J-Retro and she's ready to gig.
  9. Bought his Lakland DJ4. Absolutely no issues. Very nice chap delivered it on his way home from work.

    Modding EH Pedals

I think you'll find that because on EH pedals the chassis connectedto 0v (-) and on Boss it's connected to +9v(+), you need to totally isolate the socket from the chassis. I make and sell adaptor cables and I have a few odd ones that were cut slightly too short. If you want one f.o.c. then pm me.

  12.
Dave Best of luck this weekend. I can't make it unfortunately. Is the DJ 4 string being taken for a walk tonight? Will definitely see you on the 24th though. Nick
Thanks. Most certainly is. Used it on Sunday and there were several comments about the tone so I must be doing something right.
  13. Second Time Around have 2 gigs this weekend. Friday 3rd August at the Running Horse, London Road, Bracknell. Saturday 4th at the Crown and Cushion, Haslemere, Surrey. Both new venues for us.

    Stingray GAS!

I know it's not black and I know it's not a maple board but who cares. Just to keep the gas fueled:
  15. I could be interested in the Ashbory if you decide to sell.
  16.
The seller of this Stingray describes it as a one off, not being up on ray's what makes it a one off? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/musicman-stingray-ba...1QQcmdZViewItem
I can't see that it's any different to any other. The colour is Blue Dawn I think. Black into Blue with a sparkly coat.
  17. The best Fender Jazz is a Lakland.

    Epiphone EB3
Has anyone compared them to a vintage Gibson? Or is it just that some people don't like the muddy tone? What would you do it with it ('project') if you were to acquire one obbm? paul?
Maybe fit a Dark Star, maybe use it. We're a 60s/70s covers band so it fits, muddy tone and all. I once had an EB0 which was nice to play as I have smallish hands. At the sort of price they are going for it would make an alternative bit of fun to Squier Vintage modified, and it's not a Fender.
  19.
Yeeeaarrrghhh! Congrats on your purchase obbm, I am most pleased for you. Let me know if you ever want to sells it. How much does she weigh by the way? Cheers, paul, the.
Thanks. I shall have to buy some scales or a spring balance before I can give you the weight. I have no method of weighing anything.
  20. As you quite rightly say, priceless.

    Epiphone EB3

Anyone own or have owned one of these? Any comments/opinions/experiences? They look like they would make a good cheap project bass.
  22.
I still think about this bass. I would have bought it had it been Fralin equipped.
When I took it apart to fit the J-Retro I could find no identifying marks on the pick-ups so I emailed Lakland to ask the difference between Aeros and Laklands own.
You can tell by looking at the leads. The Aero pickups have black and white lead wires. The Laklands have red and black, and green and black.
The Aeros in my DJ5 are plastic covered but this DJ4 has cloth covered wires so back again.
The cloth covered wires are on the Lindy Fralin pickups. The plastic coated wires are the Aeros. There have been times when the Aeros were hard to come by. We would sometimes install the Lindy Fralins if there was a pinch. We wouldn't go the other way however (Aeros for Fralins). We feel that the Fralins sound better than the Aeros.
So there you go it's a DJ4 factory fitted with Lindy Fralins, hardly to the published spec but I'm well pleased. For future reference it might well be worth having a look inside to check before buying a Daryll Jones. paul, the - Sorry
  23.
Which ones are you bringing to the bash?
Probably the DJ4, DJ5, Duck Dunn, Stingray 5 with Status Neck & East pre-amp and maybe the 1980 Stingray. A bit of a load but it's not far.
  24.
You starting a collection?
No just changing the ratio of 4s to 5s.
  25.
There's not one for sale. I ment ordering one
Joe, I did the next best thing. I bought a Skyline DJ4 in Lake Placid Blue.
