A small rubber car mat. The type you might put in the rear footwell of a car, it should be about the right size, it'll be rectangular to fit most cab tops and pretty cheap from a car autoparts shop (not a BMW dealership etc).
Thats not a bad idea. i'll try that first, ta. i used duct tape last night it worked ok but i think the places we plat at are going to be moaning about the balls of tape i've forgotten to take home.

Up for sale is my Lakland that i bought off a fellow Basschatter a couple of months ago. The reason for the sale is its a little too light for my taste. i'm not getting on with the Fralins i'm afraid. so it's on to a Fender Precision i think. The neck on this plays beautifully, it really is a treat tp play. along with the bass is a Lakland case, straplocks and Allen keys. looking for £600 plus postage, here's some crap photos which i apologise for. i'm going to have to get a new camera.
Did a gig- late 80s- my bass fell off its stand after the first encore and I snapped a peg ( 70s Jazz ) I was so out of it ( pretty big gig ) that we played another two encores before I noticed the peg was missing - didnt even go out of tune ( as I remember it) I remember my dads pal welded it next day so it was ready for my next gig. Loved that bass ( it was nicked outside another venue- blame pissed roadies ) Suffice to say I would recognise that bass immediately- strange blue colourings on E string peg. I would pay £5K to get that one back- I still look at at at a gig I did in `87 on Youtube. Never mind. Cheers Bob
Any chance of a link.

It looks like i'm going to sell the Rick copy i bought off a fellow Basschatter a couple of weeks ago. i believe its an Electra. I played it at practise tonight and its not really my cup of tea. i would like what i paid for it. here's the original thread. I have reduced the price on this bass to £190 before i stick it on ebay. anyone? I have bought a couple of Hartke cabinets to go with my HA3500. at the moment i have my amp on top of the top cab. During practise tonight i noticed just in time that the amp was about to slide off! i dont really want get a rack at the moment and i thought the weight of the amp was enough to stop any movement. obviously i was wrong. our drummer suggested blu tack but i think it would look unsightly when i take the amp off. i might try duct tape at the back of the cab onto the top of the amp. anyone else had this problem.

Ahhh!
Tell me about it. i learnt It's my life by bon jovi. in the key they do it. easy enough. singer decides he wants it down one. it sounds totally different. i have to use an open string and i cant get my head around it.
Crap!! My band The Beautiful Sound played at The Railway Inn, Foxhall Road, Ipswich last night. It was the band's second show there and, when the gig was booked, we were offered either a flat fee or 100% of the door takings. Bearing in mind that the gig involved six band members travelling a round trip of well over 300 miles, hence involving an overnight stay, we opted for the flat fee arrangement. On arrival we were informed that we would start the show at 9.00 pm sharp and that on no account must we "play a note" after 11.00 pm due apparently to some noise complaints from neighbouring houses. We subsequently went on stage at 9.00 and played a single set (including three encores) and we left the stage at 10.58 pm. We were then told that we were required to play 15 minutes more. We asked what additional fee would be paid for this and whaty had happened to the 11.00 pm curfew and we were simply told "there'll be no more money". We declined the opportunity to play for a further 15 minutes. When our manager went to get paid after loadout, we were paid the princely sum of £140 (which, incidentally, didn't even equate to the door takings) on the basis that we had no written contract, so there was nothing we could do about it. Suffice to say, the audience were almost as incensed as we were and we were apparently not the first band to suffer such mistreatment. I've just driven over 3 hours back from Ipwich and I thought I would let you guys know the situation at this venue without delay. I also intend to email all the bands on their Gig List and let them know so that they won't get stung. If you know of anyone else booked to play there, please let them know too!!
Thats tough man. i know we are not in it for the money. but when you get ripped off like that it makes you wonder. perhaps we should compile a list of places to keep well away from for future use.

Some of the Doors bass parts were played by Doug Lubahn. a bit of a myth that the keyboard player the bass lines. http://www.douglubahn.com/

The one on the left is a MIM jazz, its got Wizard pups and it sounds really well. i thought is ok to play untill i played the lakland in the middle which i bought of oldhorsemurphy. its got the best neck ever. but the juries still out on wether or not i like the sound or not. the rick copy i have only just had so have'nt played it through a rig yet, the action is a little high but i dont know if the normal for this bass.
