1. Can't comment on volume but +1 for the Crafter, and they come in fretted or fretless
2. Hey folks probably asking the impossible here but want some recommendations and advice. I'm now on the save for that ultimate bass as i've always had budget basses (£500ish mark). I could save for ever so i've set a limit of £2-2.5k on this. Has to be a 5 string but i'd just like a few pointers of basses worth checking out in this price range, I don't mind going 2nd hand. So far i've looked at: Warwick Infinity - always loved these and seen some good 2nd hand ones around this price. Recently purchased a fretless Warwick standard corvette from here and the tone is unreal, so why not go for the top of the range Sadowsky metroline basses - Can't find much on them but any sound bites sound incredible, what's the point to buying a USA one? Zon Sonus - again can't find out a whole lot on them apart from and sound bites which tend to sound amazing. So that's about all i've come up with so far. I can see these being a real pain to track down to play. So anyone got any other recommendation? Is doesn't have to max the budget out, but i'd like to be able to get the best bass for the money. Thanks in advance for any advice, Dave
3. Another quick thing i'd recommend is try the programme (if you can) before you buy. I tried the latest Cubase and Sonar and hated them. Really annoyingly got on very well with Logic, which is frustrating as I don't have a mac!
4. Thanks for the messages guys. Both top people to deal with
5. Thanks for pointing out the feedback section Nigel! Loving the fretless Warwick :-) Really nice bloke to deal with and thank you for being so accommodating
6. Stuck this album on this morning and just love the tone here. Greg Howe, Victor Wooten and Dennis Cambers = awesome mix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKXewENvIfE
7. In all the times I heard this on a low quality sounding radio I never really heard the bass properly till I ran it through my Hi-Fi, Bass is quite low in the mix (i'm assuming it is a proper bass being the 80's it could be anything though ) I do get confused though with all the sound effects on it, sounds like an upright at the end so I could be wrong. Great song anyway Any how, Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush Don't Give Up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJWurqWTeSk
8. I'd personally only endorse stuff I actually like, so if Mesa or Markbass wanna send some amps and cabs be my guest lol, basses probably Warwick as it's the only way i'll be able to afford an Infinity. I couldn't for example endorse Rotosound or ernie ball strings as i never got on with them
9.
ERB="Extended Range Bass"
Ah ok that makes sense, i'll adjust the title now
10. What does ERB mean? Just put it up on ebay to try and get abit more interest as well No problem Brian hope you find a good 5 stringer
11. Yep blank plank as you put it, very excited now as I should be picking it up soon
12.
The angled bolts were quite interesting. Although I wonder why he doesn't just go neck thru if it's that big a deal to him.
He's stated on quite a few interviews he doesn't like the feel and sound of a neck through. Having owned a neck through I quite agree with him. I think Billy is great at what he does and I do admire him for that, if the bass was priced under £1500 i'd probably consider it as I know it'd be built like tank and I wouldn't break it, but I liked the old red colour more.
13. I liked that, was cool. But then i'm a huge Gilbert fan so I would do lol.
14. Thanks for the replys guys, yeah i managed to missed Mikeg's thread when i posted this. Found an awesome Warwick on here now
15.
If this goes even stupidly lower i'll buy it just so i can convince my guitard brother its an ironing board (He never does any house work...) Bumpo on me!
LMAO that has to be quote of the day. I can't really justify letting it go for any less though, would be an awesome ironing board though
16. Stupidly low price now to sell.
17. Thanks for the offer Talon but after the Yamaha I purchased last year i'm not gonna buy another, thank you anyway.
18. Hey guys hoping for a bit of advice here. I'm going to enter the world of fretless bass but don't wanna spend loads on my first incase I don't continue with it. I was originally looking at the Squire VM fretless which i've played, feels and sounds good and get good reviews. Then Went into a shop yesterday and ended up playing a Crafter BA400EQ acoustic, I loved it. The guy in the shop also recommended, but didn't have in a Vintage (as in the company) Jaco model but having looked at the pictures I don't want the beaten up look. These basses are all around the £300 mark, anyone have any experience or point me in the right direction here. Cheers, Dave
19.
Whats the string spacing? I'm sooooo tempted but i will be killed by my family for having no money haha Bump on me
LMAO, well cheers for the bump if anything. I've included two pictures with a tape measure so you can see the actual spacing, one is at the 1st fret one at the 12th. The spacing is quite tight, I'm rubbish at slap and it was even harder due to the small string spacing. I suppose though it has to be tight else, with 8 strings, the fret board would be about 2ft wide lol.
20. Hi sorry about the wait getting back to all you guys. Cris thanks for the offer of a trade but i'm not really after anything other than to prune my bass collection back abit. The question about how well it plays, string height is fine the string spacing is quite small though. The reason I can't get on with it is because the sheer amount of notes is too mind boggling and it's abit on the heavy side with my increasing back problems, although I have played a 45 min set with it before. I live in Tring in Hertfordshire, If anyone would like a play with no pressure to buy then you are more than welcome.
21. Yamaha RBX375 is worth a look in that price range, great bass.
22. Sorry for the stupid question here but i presume they are NEO speakers then? I've got some gear i'm selling at the moment, will be interested if I can get he money together from selling my own stuff.
