hi

Hi folks My name's Mike; I live in Dorset. I'm middle-aged. I've owned a bass guitar for about four years; I'm still rubbish at playing them, but I'm a lot better than I was. Not gigging at the moment (but looking to, assuming the band holds together that long). Musically I'll try anything except metal and late-70s soul (and Simply Red, who I cannot abide). I'd like to do more folkish stuff. I'm impressed by this forum, and by how well-mannered it is. I hope to be here for a long time.
6. Bought a Korg pedal tuner from Pete. All as advertised, in good nick, prompt delivery, well packaged and good comms. Nice one. Thanks Pete Mike
7. what a stonking list! Please let us know when you gig
8. Paul bought my Aguilar Octamizer. Excellent comms, very quick payment, nice guy. Thanks Paul
9. Thank you, sir Niice fresh pedal here, layzan gemmun...
10. Aguilar Octamizer Octave Pedal - £95 posted. Bought from P-T-P (Pete) here in May - looking to recover what I paid for it. No complaints, selling because I just don't use it.
11. And, now I know what I'm going to do with this http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=142625 which justifies bumping this thread, as if it needed it - what a cool machine
12.
Not at all... But as 'most' EUB's ate a little odd looking anyone can get away with it on a stand. Worn on the strap I can see how the die hard traditionalist Fender lovers may find it a little offensive looking!
That's the difference between a bass player and a bass guitar player, I guess
13.
<snip> It does look a little 'unique' being worn on a strap though...
You say that like it's a bad thing
14. I'll probably try to convert it to a fretted RH EUB, when I've got time (ho ho). I might do something with the bridge while I'm at it - get some adjustment on it and reduce that nasty angle. The pickup works, but it's not exactly well-suited to the job it's being asked to do, so that will want changing at some point. I guess this thread ought to be moved, probably to Reviews.
15. I'd also say, the pickup pole alignment is not good. The thing is just too wide for the string setting.
16. That's a stunner Way out of my price range, but I'm curious - does it balance on a strap?
17. Okay, I've had time to have a look at it. Unfortunately converting to RH looks quite a bit trickier than it first might. The nut appears to be glued to a carry plate which is screwed onto the headstock, which means it's pretty thoroughly handed. It's possible it's just floating, but if so I can't see why they'd bother with the carry plate. I haven't bothered to look any closer, because of the other problem: The bridge screws directly onto the end of the body, as noted above. However, the end of the body is not square; it's cut at an angle, for intonation. So reversing the bridge is not simply a matter of taking it off and turning it over. Simplest solution is a wedge-shaped shim; which isn't impossible. But it's not obvious to me that it would be worth the effort. Shame, because there are things I really like about this. It's so easy to carry and store, it would stash under my desk at work so I could sneak off at lunchtime and run it through a headphone amp to practice. I guess I mark that one down to experience.
18. Gone to a friend. ============== Guitar/bass tab books for Disturbed albums 'The Sickness' and 'Believe'. Used (not by me - acquired as part of a trade), so there are coffee stains, folds etc. but quite readable, complete and spines intact. Free to anyone who covers the postage cost.

20. I tried this on a junker BB450 I've now disposed of, using an EADG set of strings. The low B was a bit flabby, but I would have bet that using a proper set of strings would have sorted that out. OTOH, I wouldn't necessarily do my first experiment on your nice Jazz
21. Bought a cello pickup. Easy transaction and very quick. A pleasure to do business with. Thanks
22.
Just listened to this... excellent trippy track with the Sugarcubey one in great voice then the end wraps your brain up into a crumpled piece of inky paper and slams it against the wall. Listen to it on headphones. ficelles
That was moderately bonkers
