Damn right I’m interested. Thanks for tagging me. Pretty steep price though, and as he’s based in Turkey for half the year, possibly subject to another £150 in taxes and fees. I get the pun but the the Nirvana reference is so far removed from the B15 sound. I’m sure there could be puns that gave a closer association to that era.

The Haz takes up a whole board by itself.

I borrowed a Haz recently and really liked it. Dithered too long in getting one that came up on Reverb but now that the Behringer clone is official, I’ll likely go for that.

Better might be to use a Boss LS-2 before it so that you can trim the volumes of both chains going into the preamp and use the footswitch to select between them.

It’s definitely fun trying this stuff out but I’ll likely always return to these few staples: envelope filter; phaser; octaver; preamp with low-gain drive; compressor. And the FI4 with a stereo delay and reverb, and maybe stereo chorus.

I think I can probably slow down a bit now. I’ve found some nice preamps that do the (old school) things I was after with my rosewood P bass/flats combo. At some point I might revisit things for use with the maple P/rounds combo as that’s a very different vibe. I found I dismissed the Capo quickly as it didn’t do the old school stuff as well as other things but it really added some heft to my Octabvre and was good for sparkly stuff, but probably overkill if all I’d ever use it for were clean sounds. I’m sure there’s other stuff that can do that. I need to explore my SA Bass ZIO for those kinds of sounds before acquiring more stuff. I may even be able to let go of a couple of more things. Then I think the only other thing I’d really like to get again would be a simple analogue lowpass envelope filter and the Behringer MuTron III clone might just fit the bill; nice and cheap too.

Fliptop is great but the GS has proper tube goodness.

I also had issues with the standard version with ear-splitting oscillation at certain gain settings on the pedal/my bass’s passive tone control. No such problems on the Grand version.

Sold a Broughton Fliptop to Ordep today. Went from receiving the initial message to posting the pedal out to him in under three hours so all very smooth and prompt.

I’ve just sold a couple of pedals; once they safely arrive with their buyers I’ll get one.

I’ve played both versions and this newer one is giving me pleasure that the previous one didn’t. I’m definitely getting one. Just want to sell a couple of pedals first to cover the cost of it.

Another fantastic transaction with Jeff. He contacted me about my wanted ad for an Origin Super Vintage and kindly held on to it for me for a while until I’d had time to check out one I’d arranged to borrow. I always think a measure of a good seller is how they deal with matters when things don’t go exactly to plan, and I’m happy to say that Jeff was exemplary in this regard. The pedal arrived with some scratches on the base which had either been missed or had occurred in transit. When I brought these to his attention, Jeff immediately offered to take the pedal back and refund me fully. I declined and said I’d be fine keeping it. Jeff kindly gave me a partial refund to account for this (without my having asked for one or my having expected one). As before everything was great as regards packing, postage and communication. Again, I’d have no hesitations in dealing with Jeff and can heartily recommend him to others. Many thanks.

I think what was meant is that increasing the pedal’s volume knob doesn’t introduce any more overdrive. (Putting a hotter signal before the pedal does allow the tube to overdrive (which Nathan states in the text I quoted). Similarly, putting a quieter signal into the pedal tames it a bit.)

Have you read the blurb that Nathan posted that is quoted on the first post of this thread? He does state that it’s clean only (no gain). Grand Slampegg: Also based on the Ampeg B-15N preamp but this time with a 6SL7 tube. I have modified the circuit on this one to stay clean no matter what, but it allows you get the B-15N clean tone LOUD which seems to be what most B-15 players want. 'it will not be able to break up by itself. Granted running another pedal into it and pushing the front end will still allow the 6SL7 to break up, but by itself it will just be clean.
