Bought an item from Tom, really good comms and super easy to deal with. Delivery, packaging, everything was spot on. As stated previously, deal in confidence!

I like that idea...the 10+ year badge, heh. I've been on this forum so long and I don't necessarily comment much, but for the 'little boy' in me as an amateur enthusiast, this has been the place of dreams for me over the years with some of the things I've been able to acquire here from some really nice people. Here's to another 10 years.

That is f'ed up...

Right, I often tell myself to stay out of these parts of the forum 'cause many times nothing good comes out of it when difference of opinion flares up. But this is bugging me and I don't like how it feels. Last year a bass I had longed for a while came up for sale. It was a good price and I saw it an hour after it was posted, so I did not hesitate. Unfortunately I was still too late as it had just sold in principle. The seller later reveals to me, that unknown to him, he later realised it was a well known shop that bought it. A few days later the same bass was advertised on that shop for double its forum price. It just made me feel so uneasy knowing someone who owns a shop and has deeper pockets than I do, swoops in and takes something off the forum for immediate resale. I'm a bit naive in thinking the forum is for the benefit of the members here to enjoy the toys we all like. I bring this up as I recently purchased something tres cool (to me), from a member who has been here a while, and owned it even longer. I feel fortunate tbh. But I 'know' that someone may have bought that to flip it elsewhere, and I dunno, just makes me sad. I'm not against free markets and all that...but I always saw BC as that place where 'the one that got away' could swing back around years later (as has happened to me) when someone is ready to move it on and let someone else enjoy it, all at reasonable prices. I'm not saying individuals don't flip items, but at least its not at a business level. Anyways, rant over.

Jazzbois, at the Jazzcafe Camden tonight! I was such a Youtube fan when I discovered them last year, went to I think their first UK gig in summer, then tonight. Place was full which was nice to see. Love their vibe.

Junior Gong and Steel Pulse tonight. I wanted to go but can't...man that would have been fun https://southfacingfestival.com/event/jamrock/

There is some kind of crazy Internet magic, or Google _really_ knows me better than myself. Scrolling my youtube feed I randomly click a YT short of a guy playing a Wilcock Mullarkey. I love the look of that specific bass and the tone and wonder what it would take to get one just like that. I start googling Mullarkey basses. Independently I come on Basschat, see a Mullarkey bass for sale only to realise it was your very bass I just randomly watched in that video that got me interested in looking for one for sale in the first place! If I could I would, GLWTS!

A little wake up for the weekend vibes...

You raided my 90s cassette tapes! Long live the 90s!!! (somebody, please take me back)

Remembering the 90s - went to see '311' last night. I had a blast. And for once with an older established band, quite a lot of the audience appeared younger than me!

Good vibes bro...good vibes... 😎

Victor Wooten (The Wooten Brothers)...nuff said.

Byron Lee. Iconic for me in particular as I am only familiar with his stuff on the Soca scene. I only knew him as 'Byron Lee and the Dragonaires'. My dad had a record player, but only like 3 records I just remember two. One was a Salsoul Christmas record, and the other a Byron Lee (my initial interest had nothing to do with the album art as a young boy of course 😜 ). And some of those Soca tunes are ingrained in us, play that in any Fete and the crowd will just feel it!

That intro to the Towers of Dub. "Babylon an' 'ting".....I don't know if that is some sketch I should know or they did it, but man that whole thing had me rolling

The nostalgia is strong with this one. Plus, in my humble opinion, the greatest (and most fun) example....to show what one chord can do 😛

Finally saw Jazzbois tonight at Brick Lane Jazz Festival (Rough Trade East). Adds to the vibe seeing them perform in a record shop. They were a Youtube find about a year ago, and I've had them on repeat and been waiting to see when they come to London since. And talking to someone affiliated, I realised they were confirmed yesterday to play Jazz Cafe later this year...I am stoked!

Oh my goodness, that website is awesome! I did not know about that either....sweet.

I've had a melody (and its lyrics) stuck in my head for decades now from a song I heard in the 90s. It was a line in a dancehall song, but I just can't remember what that song or the artist was. So recently I actually tried in earnest to find that 90s song. I still have not found it, but in doing so, I realised that the melody is actually quoting another much older song (I should have known). And now, I've found a bunch of versions of that original song (it must be popular, I just did not know about it!). I see versions by Dennis Brown, The Skatalites, Anthony B and the Mighty Vikings. But I'll put the version here from Johnny Clarke cause I'm diggin that vibe today...I'm still on the hunt for my song, but the internet/youtube can be a wonderful thing.

Rotem Sivan Trio at PizzaExpress Jazz in Soho. I've not been there in over a decade, but I always treasure the 'jazz' experience of listening to top notch musicians in such a proper small jazz club where you sit down, have a drink, they are like 10 feet away from you and playing live. He and his group did not disappoint. Great music, ambience and vibe...makes me feel all grown up

A freaking classic. In the clubs, they would play this (I'm sure they still do back where I'm from). The whole crowd would start singing, and when he came down to the last 2 lines, we all would just go nuts. every. single. time.
