1. Here some of me / the band in action.
2. I've got the burgundy red version, fantastic bass, the coloured oil finishes are over £700 new, have a bump on me!
3. The Fusion 550 is very tempting! No idea of price yet though
4. Stumbled on this, which is an interesting read if you're into GK gear http://www.instituteofbass.com/bass_gear/
5.
'Bass' - like the fish.
Or like the shandy! fifteen eighteen two-ten four-ten six-by-ten eight-by-ten heart-key wha-rick (wha as in what) gallien-kruger (as in Spanish Gallion and Freddie Krueger)
6. I use one of these; http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...cfm?prodID=1600 I've seen mixed reviews about it, but I'm fairly happy with it. I've noticed slightly less bass when using this instead of a lead, but nothing that can't be compensated for in your amp. Also very noisy pops and clicks when switching it on and off. I always mute my amp when turning on and off Other than that I'm happy with it. It's not let me down, touch wood
7.
Hi Matt, I know of a couple of Drummer's who are "redundant" at the moment. What sort of age group are the band? The reason I ask is that 1 guy is in his 20's and the other nearer 50. The younger one is the son of the drummer from one of my bands and is superb. Not sure if either is suitable, but who knows. Let me know. Stuart
Hello Stuart, Thanks for the interest in the band, but we've now found a replacement drummer, hopefully we'll be gigging again soon! I know there are a few bands similar to us in the region who are looking for drummers in the northwest. Have a look on the Ads page on Northwestbands.co.uk, and you'll find their details. cheers Matt
8. Great info, I'll be getting my Lemon Oil and Mr Sheen out at the weekend! Cheers
9. That's great, thanks for the info
10. Thanks for the info. Think I'll leave the lemon oil for the neck and fretboard only. The Warwick site say the wax should only be used on the natural finish bodies. The coloured oil finishes do not need waxing. Think I'll just use a dry cloth for a wipedown, unless there are any other suggestions. cheers
11. I've been using lemon oil to clean the neck (ovangkol) and fretboard (wenge) of my Warwick. The body is swamp ash, and has a coloured oil finish. Does anyone think there may be problems using the lemon oil on the body too, or is there some other cleaner that might be better suited with the type of finish I have? Any help much appreciated
12. Was thinking of holding out for Christmas to wait for the DVD, that way at least I know I'll be getting something decent! If I've been a good boy of course
13. You can't beat those Greek Islands, make the most of the Mythos and Tzatziki!
14. Started on guitar, was asked to play bass in a band a few years later and stuck with it. Still play the guitar at home though
15. Hello Steve, Thanks for the information, we've been on Forming Bands, musofinder, partysounds and Gumtree. We've seen a few drummers, but nothing ideal for us yet! The band is spread over Manchester, and we practice in the Greenhouse in Manchester. I didn't know about Apocolypse, I'll have to take a look. Is there any forum like this one specifically for drummers? Maybe I could stick an add on there! cheers Matt
16. 1. Is a light bass cabinet important to you? N 2. Would you be interested in a smaller designed cabinet for maximum portability? N 3. What is the weight of your current rig now? 77Kg 4. Have you ever had portability issues with this cabinet before? N 5. Would a Neo speaker make the amplifier more appealing? Indifferent 6. Would you want casters on the amplifier for added portability? Y 7. Would you want the input to be in the back? Y 8. Would you want the Ohm rating to be 4? N 8 ohms please! 9. Would you want the power rating to be over 200 watts? Y 400 watts please! 10. Is a metal grille cover attractive on an amplifier? Indifferent
17. Long before I was in a band, I'd much rather go to a pub and see a decent covers band. The only originals I see are bands with my mates in, or friends of friends etc. I'm in a covers band for that reason, it seems like much harder work sorting gigs and getting a following, and if you get enjoyment from that, that's great too, but I'm sure things would become a bit of a chore for me. We've had comments from other original bands asking why we don't do our own stuff, (they thought we were good enough to do so!!!), but just explain the reasons I've just mentioned. I'm playing in a band for the enjoyment of playing in a band, I don't want to get bogged down in all the other hassles, but that's just me! The other thing is a decent covers band will probably play about 2 hours of music, originals tend to just have a 45 minute set? If I'm setting up all the gear, PA etc, I'd much rather be playing for a long while rather than do all that faffing for only 45 minutes of play time! Saying that, I'll often pick up a six string at home and have a noodle away on that, but wouldn't want to introduce any of my noodlings to the band! No problem with originals bands, great stuff, just not really for me.
18. Replacement drummer found!!! - -- The drummer in our band has decided to call it quits due to work and family commitments, which is a shame, he is a great drummer and a great guy, but that's life I suppose. The rest of us are all keen to carry on as a band. Hence the ad! We're a female fronted pop rock covers band and practice once a week, (normally a Thursday evening) in the Greenhouse studios in Manchester. We've been gigging approximately once a month, in Manchester and the Northwest, although we could be looking to gig slightly more frequently. Our website is; http://www.southbynorthwest.co.uk Click on the music page, and you'll find a list of all the songs we currently have in our set, it's quite a wide range of songs, we're basically trying to appeal to everyone! We have all our own gear, transport and a band PA and storage for drums if needed at the rehearsal studios. Give me a shout if you think you might be interested, and we'll sort out a practice soon. cheers Matt
19. You could try turning the preamp down, (to zero). Turn your master, (power amp) volume up (say to 2 or 3 o'clock). Gradually turn up the preamp volume to a desired level. Your master, or power amp should be doing all the work, so that's why I suggest turning that up and turning the preamp down. Hopefully this may help!
20. My top band; Pink Floyd (Roger Waters, Guy Pratt - more recently) Guy Pratt is great on Bass, but recently saw Roger Waters live and his sound is the classic Floyd sound. I think David Gilmour also played bass on some of the tracks in studio
21. I have a 700RB 210 combo, and couldn't be happier. I use if for practice, and have a GK410SBX extension cab for gigs (if needed)
22. I've purchased a bass and amp from them in the past 12 months. No problems. Beware that if purchasing on the net, the delivery address can only be the same as credit card address due to security reasons. I wanted delivery to my work address so had to order over the phone rather than internet.
