2. To my eyes, it looks suspect. Look how square the edges of the pickups are. They look like a very cheap Chinese part. Anyone who lives nearby and gets a look at it, let us know how you get on. M
 3.
I saw that Gold Edition box set but the price is a bit scary. £70 is a bit steep. Season 1 can be had for about £17 but season two is about £60. Crazy prices. I don't have a Blu-Ray player yet but I am tempted as I would love Band of Brothers on Blu-Ray. Twin Peaks would be great if available on Blu-Ray also. Is it definately coming out of Blu-Ray? Oh, and I had such a crazy crush on Madchen Amick. Not seen any pictures of her recently but I probably still would have that crush
I would suggest that the Gold Box is definitely worth the money. A really good print of all of the episodes, two versions of the pilot and loads of exclusive extras including an hour and a half's worth of documentary. Probably my best ever DVD purchase. Having said that, the Blu Ray looks as though it is all go for next year. I'm a bit of a fan boy so I'll probably get that as well! Also, I can confirm that Madchen Amick is still pretty foxy. Personally, I'm an Audrey man!
 4. skankdelvar - Thanks very much! Linus27 - Glad I could help with the strings. Now on to the REALLY IMPORTANT stuff. Twin Peaks is far and away the best television series ever made and anyone who disagrees with me is just plain wrong. I may, or may not, be kidding. The best way to appreciate it is get yourself a region free DVD player and the Gold Box set. Details here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/TWIN-PEAKS-Definit...0999&sr=8-4 Either that or wait for the Blu Ray version to come out next year... 5.
Yeah, I thought that also. Made me even more pissed off and I think I will cancel my order this afternoon and go to Andertons.
I'm sorry guys. I think I may have missed some sarcasm. As always, it's hard to tell on t'net. No-one has been in touch with me directly about problems they are having with the website. If they had, I would have sorted it by now. As for pushing product, it was perhaps a little off-topic, but people have been querying the availability for months and this topic has brought to light the fact that a much anticipated item has now arrived. As always, if you have queries/problems/comments/suggestions regarding the shop, mail order or the internet, drop me a PM. Getting in touch with me directly will usually sort out any problems straight away. M
 6.
What is the webprice and do you find it better than the Akai Deep Impact?
Hi there. They are online at £266. As for comparisons with the Deep Impact, I would suggest that it can do a little more. Having now opened up the editing software, the possibilities for experimentation are vastly expanded. Each preset has three oscillators with in depth controls as well as precise control over the envelope, filter and note dynamics. As for sound quality, it's been a long time since I've heard a Deep Impact but I would suggest that it would have to go some to be better than the Super Synth. It is much, much fatter and warmer than any other synth pedal we currently stock and can almost sound keyboardesque given the right tweaking. Overall, I would say that I am very impressed. The pedal itself offers you plenty of variety and when connected via USB, I would say that most players will easily find the sounds they are after.
 7.
mark_random, review, please!
Well, they are finally here, and all I can say is wow. Easily the best synth pedal I have tried. They are huge sounding. Warm and fat with being overly boomy. As for editing, just using the pedal itself yeilds almost unlimited tonal variation and I'm sure the USB (which I have not yet tried, due to my computer being on it's last legs) will unlock a load more sounds. Build quality is chunky, as you would expect from MarkBass, and the LED screen is a very welcome addition. The two I currently have in stock will probably be the only two I get before Xmas, so if you want one, PM me and I may even be able to knock a couple of quid off the web price for you. M
 8.
Cool, look forward to hearing your report. But they've been "in stock" at GAK since August, so you could've tried it several months ago.
So, they are here now and... THEY ARE AMAZING. Easily the fattest sounding, most versatile and easiest to use synth pedal I have ever tried. I've not had chance to try the USB features yet but I would assume that it open up even more sonic experimentation. If you are interested in taking one, I suspect that I will only have these two now before Xmas, so drop me a PM and I might even be able to knock you a few quid off the web price. M
 9.
You might want to look at this then: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/80499 Given that all your competitors are saying they've got them in stock or can deliver them in a matter of days, excuse me if I assume it's not an innocent mistake.
Well... THEY ARE IN STOCK! I'm not sure how I missed the delivery because I'm dying to have a go on one, but from the looks of our stock system, they arrived last week. I'll let you know for certain tomorrow when I've actually got my hands on one. P.S Looks as though Riverberos have come in too. M
 10.
Just incase you haven't done so, it's always good to have more in stock than it lists on your site. I don't mean LOADS more, just whatever cash flow will allow.
Thanks for the input. To be honest, I have very little to do with the running of the website, and we're technically not even the same company, but rest assured, all of your comments are being passed on to the boys in the offices. Like I said before, I am always happy to handle BassChatter's orders over the phone so give me a call and I can deal with it personally. M
 11.
If you just want strings use should use Stringbusters or Strings Direct. They'll probably be cheaper & they both deliver really quickly. They're also really on the ball with having stock marked as available or not. GAK have got a bloody terrible reputation for not having things in stock when they're advertised as available on their website.
Hi guys. I thought I should chip in... Firstly, I'm sorry to here that you have had a bad experience with GAK.CO.UK. I can only apologise on behalf of our internet team. As you probably know, we have only just started to advertise stock availability on the site and, in the majority of cases, it is working astonishingly well. However, as with any stock system, mistakes can occur and we are trying to minimise these errors where possible. My recommendation to you is give me a call or drop me an email when you want to order. I will happily deal with your order and physically check stock before taking any payment. Our policy is to match web prices whenever possible and on 99% of products, that won't be a problem. 12.
Nice one - liking the music. Listened to both songs on your myspace. Loving the sound of the bass on the intro to 'Just don't know' - [s]What bass/amp did you play to recording it?[/s] - Maybe I should read you post before asking stupid questions. Thats sounds great for SANSAMP - How much of your tone do you put down to the bass and how much to the sansamp? - whats the P sound like straight in?
Well, to be honest, my bass always sounds like "my bass" whatever it is put through. We just used a SansAmp on the day becuase it was already plugged in! I'm sure I could have found a very similar tone on another direct recording device, such as a Pod or some software. We did consider re-amping through a 70s SVT head but once we had rigged it all up, the sound was so similar to the SansAmp, we decided to leave it as it was. Simplicity, it seems, is the key!
 13. So, as well as running the bass department here at GAK, I also play in a punk band. We're called Corrigan and we have just been in to the studio with Peter Miles (Sonic Boom Six, Howards Alias, The Steal) to record songs for some 7"s. Check them out at our MySpace. As for bass, I used my trusty 2001 USA P-Bass straight in to a SansAmp. Simple but effective! M
 14.
Hi Mark, Thankyou for keping us updated. Any chance you could post as soon as the super synth arrives? Thanks
Of course. You effect-hungry Bass Chatters will be the first to know!
 15.
Just saw this. Seems an okay price from a retailer. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=67343&hl=
Thanks for promotion! The 1978 bass we currently have in stock is one of the nicest examples of a late 70s P that I have ever seen. Late 70s P-Basses can definitely be hit or miss but this one is lightweight and sounds like an absolute beast. With the tone up, it has that Stranglers-esque growl that you would expect and with it backed off it can emulate Jamersons Motown thump.
 16.
Hi Mark, Just wondering if the Compressore and Super Synth will be part of the "Take It Away" scheme, just as i plan on picking both of them up when you get the stock as a christmas present to myself. Cheers,
Hello mate. We're not actually part of the Take It Away scheme. We should be set up for it in the new year. However, we are still able to offer interest free finance on most of our products. I'll post on here as soon we get them in stock and we can discuss finance options. M
 17. Hi guys. I thought I'd update you on the situation as I understand it. Here at GAK, we have all of the pedals on order. Currently, we have the Compressor, DI Box, Super Booster and the Chorus/Flanger in stock. So far, I've been blown away by the pedals we have had in. Even the chorus, an effect that I'm not usually a fan of, is stunning. Loads of control over the effect and lush, rich tones. The compressor is the best of any that we stock and nearly everyone who has tried one has ended up walking away with one. As for the the availablity of the rest of the range, I can't say for sure. I would suspect that some of them will be here this month but I have no idea if the Super Synth will be one of them. M
 18. Thanks for the kind words about the boys here at GAK! If you're thinking of coming down, give me a call first on 01273 665427 and we'll make sure we have the bass that you are looking for. Mark
 19. For me, so far, it has been playing sold out gigs in Japan, releasing my first album and the last European tour I did. All great fun stuff that makes it worth doing all of the dingy pub gigs to no one!
 20. For all those with serious Bongo GAS, we've got a lovely Bongo 5 in Black Metallic in the GAK bass department at the moment. I've got it on the wall at £799 but if any BassChatters want it, I'm offering it for £699. PM me for more info, pictures etc.
 21.
thanks, i think even chopping two basses in, i'd still be a grand short. Would the person involed care for trades? I'm trying to get rid of a few more of my own before deciding on what to have made for me... I'm stuck in 2 minds, something like this alembic or a trad fender type thing. Band or personal enjoyment.
Andy, I've PM'd you regarding the Alembic. M
 22. Just so you know chaps, GAK is now a Sandberg dealer. I only have on bass in at the moment but I have it on an incredible deal. It's a Bullet Special 5 and there would be a silly, silly deal available to BC members. PM me for more details.
 23.
is that bass still there? Is it a 34" scale? I know not everyone likes it, but i do...a lot. Hmmmmm, part ex my bongo and jaydee? Hmmmm?
Hello Andy. This bass is no longer in store. It didn't actually belong to us and was on the wall as part of a larger commission sale. However, if you are serious about it, PM me and I may well be able to speak to it's owner about a deal. Mark
 24. THIS ITEM IS NOW SOLD. WES WILL CHANGE THE SUBJECT TITLE ASAP. M
 25.
Good reply but too be honest i think one of the problems with GAK which has made me slightly weary about buying there is the fact that just because it says on the site that an item is in stock, there is no guarantee that it actually is in stock.
Hi there. I understand the problem with not knowing stock levels on the GAK site and, believe me, it is something that our web guys are working to improve. However, bear in mind that the shop here in Brighton is a completely separate entity and I can always inform you of correct stock levels and take orders over the phone. As I said in my previous post, we have knowledgeable staff here who are in direct control of what we stock and we like to think that we can offer a service that you cannot get from online shopping alone. Feel free to give me a call if you need anything and if we have it in stock, I can nearly always have it for you the next day. Thanks again, Mark
