Depending on your budget there are a couple of options and generally Spectors are of great value at every price level from Korean made Legends, through Czech made Euros to the US made top of the range basses. I personally use a couple of Euro basses and they are the best basses for me. i've had 50+ basses throughout the years and these are the most suitable for my playing style. I really love the ergonomics and the distinct sound. I would not say it's a hifi sound, depends a lot on which model, which pickup option we are talking about. The neck is not chunky at all....but it is quite subjective anyway.
THIS ^^^ The best all-round basses for build, sound, playability, value for money etc I've EVER played in my 30+ years.... and I've played or owned most of the top makes in that time. Add to the above the BEST and most personal customer service I've ever had from an instrument company and I'd say you're onto a winner.... They also look sexy lol!
 5. These have been out for a couple of months. Hoping to see one or more in Bass Direct so I can try them out.... or maybe at the Bass Show. Getting great reviews on the US bass sites though!
 6. Bought a great SSD bass from Niels! Fantastic communication and the bass was sent very well packed. Highly recommended! Thanks Niels!
 7. Hi mate, I have no personal experience but have only heard good things. Request to join the wonderful 'Spector Bass Nation' on Facebook and there's sure to be someone helpful on there who can give you a first hand review. Gary
 8. That's gorgeous! Congrats

 12.
To each their own, but I was never much into the bass as a solo instrument. No doubt there are great artists doing this. For me, while it may not be "nirvana," I have always loved Peter Cetera's playing on the early (first four) CHICAGO albums, especially their first one, "Chicago Transit Authority". His playing was influential in me taking up the bass, and today I often listen to and admire his playing on these albums.
THIS ^^ A genuinely underrated and brilliant bassist!

 14.
For a rock band it is hard to beat a Spector. Queensryche, Alice in chains, Skid Row, Cannibal Corpse, Judas Priest and a host of other well known and iconic rock bands' bassist all used and still use Spector basses. I'd say you go for a EURO 4. It has PJ pickups, active electronics, slim neck, contoured body. They'd fit into your budget even new, but used they go around 800-900 GBP (or less sometimes) It will give you different tone options compared to your P bass.
This. You can't beat a Spector for rock music
 15.
I've been pretty disappointed with the customer service at Warwick - nothing short of poor TBH - why not get yourself a quality Spector - after all it is their design..
This
 16. Glad to finally have you onboard here Darren! Gary
 17.
As long as you've got more than one knob Simon is the go to man for compression!!
Luckily my Empress Compressor has FIVE knobs....... AND two switches
 18. What can I say that hasn't already been said..... apart from to reiterate everything!! Nik, Colin etc.... thanks for all your hard work and organisation. Alex, Herbie (what a star!) and John - thankyou for sharing your talents and expertise. My fellow bassists - thank you for sharing your equipment, enthusiasm and laughter On a personal note - thanks to Simon for temporarily clearing the fog in my brain re: compression! lol! I didn't come away with any GAS.... but I did come away with a renewed enthusiasm for my instrument and respect for my fellow bassists Best time I've had in a while..... and best value for money in ages! Cheers to all and here's to the next one!
 19.
What I was trying to imply was there are already hundreds of copies of Fender basses available at all sorts of price points, so why yet another brand doing it and what do they hope will make them more special than all the others? Especially when the headstock logo is so eye-waveringly ugly! And if I was a beginner after a Fender-style bass I'd probably want be looking at one that actually said Fender on the headstock even if it was only a very small logo.
Yep, this......
