1. i would personally pick the Musicman SUB any day over the sterling by musicman because the Musicman SUB is a proper musicman bass but just a lower model compare to their famous stingray version etc. Is just like Fender MIM which is a proper Fender compare to Fender Squier.
2. Have anyone tried those Redwood Acoustic bass that sells in Dawsons? It seems pretty fair price and it uses Fishman preamp as well (altho is not high end preamp).
3. I got this Stingray Ray 4 to trade. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/187697-ftfs-musicman-stingray-4-string-3-band-eq-trans-orange/page__p__1815531#entry1815531
4. you don't happen interest a trade for my 4 string stingray?
5. open Trade for this bass so it can either straight swap or cash to my side. The bass come with the original musicman case. It have a little paint chip at the back of the bass but the chip already their when i bought the bass new in the shop. Sale price i would look around £900. Not looking for a quick sale at the moment since i after a trade first. Looking to trade Bass only so no pedals, amp, cab etc. 4, 5, 6 and fretless bass is also welcome
6. I was looking into this amp yesterday in the store, it wasn't expensive and the size is good. Looking to get this and a matched 1x12 cab as well. I'm downsizing my GK rig atm lol
7. thats the plan, going to a music shop next week since i'm off work for the whole week. PMT in manchester have ampeg, ashdown and orange stuff to try. The Ampeg portflex is very interesting and seems like something i'm after, specially that 1x15 for doing New Wave stuff
8. Also looking at the Ampeg Portaflex 15 and 2x10 cab plus the PF-350 or 500 head. Head and cab cost around £700 which i only add a little bit of money if my rig sells.
9. For budget i will defo have to sell my whole rig or trade for the new rig. I play in a 3 piece band mainly and we play New Wave rock. Volume wise i would say we not playing very loud, when i use my GK combo i never have to turn pass 9 o'clock on both input and output (maybe i use active bass). We mainly do gigs for events and occasionally as support band where the bass will go through the house PA and the amp will be use as stage monitor. I use to own a Little Mark 250 which i kinda regret selling. Looking into either a Markbass, Orange and the small GK amp mention above. Cab wise something i can carry with 2 hand will do lol. The GK combo is almost impossible to carry in 2 hand and walk (i'm skinny and not muscle guy).
10. I'm start to thinking about downsizing my bass rig, something that i can easily transport on my own without breaking my back etc. Consider i have to carry up and down the stair and into my car etc. I use to own a full ampeg rig but thats too heavy and big so i down size it to a GK 700RB ii 2x10 bass combo and a SWR workingmans 1x15 cab but i mainly use the combo more for gigs but i no where use the full power of the combo as i often been told to turn down. The sound on the GK is good but is too bloody heavy to carry that on my own etc. Thinking about 1 cab and 1 head for my rig and i can always DI my bass or mic the cab for bigger venue. Something that can keep the volume on stage as monitor. Any recommendation?
11. Musicman Stingray 4 with 3 band EQ: Bass feels good, nice balance and pleasant to play with. Sounded great live with lots of tone control and cuts in the mix nicely for the music i play. Record at home using this bass and the result had been fantastic. Only problem with this bass is when playing alone at home it sounded thin and trebly and lack balls. So this pretty much is a gigging bass. Fender classic 60 Jazz bass with J-Retro preamp: The bass feels light, nice slim neck and balance well. The most comfortable bass out of my collection. Variety of tone control available thanks to the J-Retro and jazz setup. I always get good tone alone or in live performance. This is also my gigging bass. I swap between this and the stingray depend on the song or the band i with. Fender standard Precision bass: The bass felt alright, standard precision stuff. The thing i like about this bass is passive and not much control apart from volume and tone so i just need to plug and go without messing around with EQ. Only down side with this bass is it lack control sometimes on the bass. So i like this bass for practice and backup for live performance. Strug it with flatwound so i can play some old school stuff.
12. cheers dude, i shall tried that tomorrow night's rehearsal to see how it goes. This also can help the drummer to hear my bass better via the stage monitor because in the past the drummer is struggle to hear the bass because everything is backline, all he can hear is vocal.
13. I'm doing a Sunday gig this coming Sunday for my church and we playing in a different venue which is bigger then our usual church. The church bass amp is abit little under power to use as a main source of sound to cover the venue, its ok to use as stage monitor to monitor my bass sound. My question is instead of mic the bass combo can I use the MXR M80 direct outout and normal output together? So my bass goes to the MXR M80 input and then the normal output connect to the input of my bass combo then the XLR direct output goes to the house PA? So i get the sound of my MXR on stage and it also sends the bass to the PA to project it bigger?
14. i guess no one actually tried one of these?
15. Was wondering have anyone tried the following Redwood bass? http://www.dawsons.co.uk/guitars/bass-guitars/redwood-rm6-natural http://www.dawsons.co.uk/guitars/bass-guitars/redwood-s5b-brown http://www.dawsons.co.uk/guitars/bass-guitars/redwood-rj5-5-string-bass-guitar-sunburst After selling my 5 string warwick last year i kinda want a 5 or 6 string bass again for certain project i working on. The price of these bass is attractive and the spec look pretty good as well.
16. Interest on the bass, was it original fretless or is a defret from a fretted bass?
17. It weights 45 ibs. Here are the spec: http://www.zzounds.com/item--SWRWORK115T
18. Willing to trade the whole rig for a Markbass mini CMD 15 or maybe CMD12
