1. You can see the drums have been moved about, ended up with the floor tom as the snare as they are just triggers, didnt help.
2. 3. Ended up with my amp sat on top of a bass bin and nothing of mine in the wedge! Fecking electric drums started playing up 'popping' when hit hard, just as people started to dance naturally! Grabbed a subway and came home in a grump, lol
4. I dont think there is any in the secret ingredient but it needs rolling with something, now there is always the option of space cakes
5.
All the best again Pete - main thing to relax and enjoy it.
Well I liked Bassman Sams advice but as an ex smoker I dont want to chance the nicotine
6. Hard to decide what to do isnt it? Ive no idea how much nicer better ones are or how much worse cheaper ones are, then is a badly setup expensive one going to be any use, can a cheaper one be setup easily and will it sound good even if it plays well, I give up, lol.
7. This is mine http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Standard-Model-A-Carbon-Fiber-Double-Bass-Bow-French-/140358033272?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Sting_Instruments&hash=item20adfd9f78
8. Im not sure lignum vitae is the wood that sinks its so dense isnt it? My 2007 had a pau ferro fretless board but I bought it after it had gained a 2004 fretted neck instead!
9. You could message john and ask him?
10. I have some dots from Allie on here for 3 little birds so tomorrows practice will revolve around that, I will then base all my reggae lines on that one song
11.
Playing live, different set-ups, acoustics, and sound engineers - it's always different I'd definitely take a cab along There have been times when I haven't been able to hear myself in the monitors on Double Bass So I'd always take an amp & cab along - just in case Sometimes, during the soundcheck, you'll hear everything fine, then, come the gig, something has changed Don't leave it to chance mate I've got a couple of amp / cab combinations, and I'll usually take at least my PJ head, and one PJ 4x5 400W cab - that way, I can at least control some element of what I can hear Somehow, it seems more critical on DB, than Bass Guitar Let us know how you get on Marc
I have put the 1x12 in the car, we are on at 6 so I will report back Weather isnt as good as when we did it in may so im hoping there will be a few punters.
12.
You can have more confidence if you know what kit is available and whether you have a mon engr. If you don't know any of this... then I wouldn't be taking a chance and going without my own bass monitor We have a nice stage gig where I might have to use the stage rig as access and parking is just so much hassle... and we have another gig to get to ..but since we can't get garaunteed secure parking for the first gig , I might have to leave the rig at home and collect for the next gig. This will make an early slot a quick shoot and scoot I don't tend to trust rigs unless you really know... if you do, then fair enough.
I would not concider it normally but the pa is nice and like I said the sound guy was a staff crew member on the take that tour among many other big acts, olympic ceremony etc, trust me he's good!
13.
Which one, there is so many?
Mine was around £90 I think.
14. I have been looking at other forums and they literally are identicle to the 94, same electrics, same necks, hardware, full USA build etc but only in three colour options and no fancy top option saving a grand or more maybe and that's if you can get a 94 here. I think I want one!
15. I'm not sure about the rosin yet, I had nymans and it was to hard to apply, then I got a free pot of pops with my Gedo and is a lot better but I sometimes get it just nice then I loose it again. French or German pattern you will need to decide on too, mine is French which appears more popular here and maybe in the USA I think where other countries tend to prefer German, most people will tell you to get what your teacher uses.
16. I have a yita music one, they sell via Ebay, I was told they were good on here and when Jake Newman came to give me my first lesson he liked it so much he has since bought himself one, personally I think it must be faulty because it sounds terrible when I use it
17. As for the daisy rock, I am saying nothing, lol
18. Sorry yes I meant my ClassicRay5 which has a fancy birdseye neck with a vintage tint and full gloss finish, the tobacco body is not so fancy but it is a one piece slab of ash (I think) with a top notch paint job, then it has a glossy pickguard rather than the matte of a normal Ray, all the extra chrome on the back with string thru body ferrules, battery box cover, engraved neck plate, bigger bridge and stuff overall it looks less like your average honest working mans bass.
19. Just looking at others, the bongo looks ace with a roasted neck and trans finish!
20. They are making some really nice gear now with the Classic, PDN and BFR stuff, they have found a bit of something special from somewhere! I felt that mine was a bit glitzy for a stingray at first but hey its my bass and like yours it looks and feels ace up close.
21. Premier Dealer Network, very nice mate, very nice indeedy.
22. Crazy! Love it. Does it have a bfr inlay on the 12th fret?
